Chapter 140 Nathan Goes to Jail

Axel felt something was off with Clara and couldn't help but step forward. "Ms. Williams, are you really okay?"

Clara had her palm on the table, head down, making it hard to see her expression. She lost her patience after being questioned. "Get out!"

Seeing Axel still standing there, she raised her voice. "I said, get out!"

Axel, seeing Clara in this state, swallowed all the words he wanted to say and quickly left the office with the documents. Clara was clearly angry, though he didn't know why, it was best not to provoke her.

After Axel left, Clara quickly walked over and locked the office door. She looked flustered and, without thinking much, hurriedly dialed Nathan's number. But the phone rang twice, and no one answered.

"Pick up the phone!" Clara anxiously tapped the table until the cold, automated busy signal came through the phone.

Hearing this, Clara almost threw her phone in anger. But she kept her composure, took a deep breath, and dialed Mia's number. Fortunately, this time it was quickly answered.

"Mom! Diana, she..." Clara was about to explain the situation, but Mia, on the other end, was even more anxious; it seemed like she was crying. "Clara, your dad was taken by the cops for investigation. What should we do? You need to come back quickly!"

"What happened? Why was Dad suddenly..."

Mia took a deep breath to control her voice. "Come home, we'll talk in person!" With that, Mia hung up.

Clara was left stunned in the office. When she came to her senses, she didn't waste a moment. She grabbed her bag and car keys and rushed home.

Mia had always doted on her and had never been so out of control; something must have happened at home.

The other people in the office saw Clara's anxious expression and were very curious, speculating whether there was a problem with the company's business.

At the Williams Villa, Clara sped to the front door, but no servants came to greet her. Her face grew darker, and she entered the living room to find Mia crying, surrounded by tissues.

"Mom?"

Mia heard the familiar voice, quickly turned around, and opened her arms to Clara. At that moment, Clara, with a heart full of anxiety, rushed into Mia's embrace.

Mia's sobbing voice surrounded her. "Clara, your dad was arrested for involvement in a kidnapping and murder case. What should we do?"

"What? Kidnapping? Murder?" Clara pulled away from Mia, her eyes wide open.

"It was that thing he hired someone to do before." Mia wiped her tears, her voice growing smaller.

Clara sat there in a daze, suddenly remembering something. "No, Dad hired them from the Dark Web. How could it be traced back to us?"

Clara was working herself to the bone because of the $1,500,000 Nathan spent on the hitmen.

Mia sniffled, her tone heavy. "Those people suddenly turned themselves in and said your dad was the mastermind."

"What?" Clara looked incredulous, thinking those people were crazy.

The Dark Web, as a medium, shouldn't let the hitmen know who the employer was.

Meanwhile, Dean, who had just finished handling a series of matters, was happily reporting to Diana, "Sophia, how did I do this time? Those people have been locked up in the suburbs for so long, they're completely obedient now. I promised them each a sum of money when they get out of prison."

Diana was in a bit of a mess, calling from the restroom to avoid being monitored by Charles. She had tested the soundproofing beforehand, and it was pretty good.

So, she relaxed her voice a bit. "Is that all? You must have done something shady to make them willingly go to prison."

Dean guiltily touched his nose. "Of course not, I used my charm to persuade them. Besides, they didn't kill anyone, so they won't be in for long."

Diana chuckled. "When did you become so kind? They committed crimes, the longer they're locked up, the better. Don't tell me you really plan to take care of them when they get out."

Dean smirked, playing with a pen in his hand. "Don't worry, Sophia. For bad people, you and I think alike; we won't let them be too comfortable."

"That's good. I have to go. I can't talk to you for too long. We'll talk next time." Diana had been in the restroom for almost half an hour, staying any longer would attract attention. Plus, Dean was always reliable, so she ended the call quickly.

When Diana came out, Brenda brought her some nourishing soup. "Ms. Spencer, freshly made, come and try it."

After spending so many days together, Diana could tell that Brenda was a very dedicated and good doctor. Although Brenda was an employee of Charles, she often sided with Diana.

Thinking of this, Diana gave a friendly smile. "Thank you, Dr. Ramos."

Usually, Brenda would leave after delivering the soup, but today her expression was a bit off, and she seemed hesitant to speak.

Diana raised an eyebrow slightly and took the initiative to ask, "What's wrong, Dr. Ramos?"

Brenda scratched her cheek, her eyes wandering. After hesitating for a moment, she couldn't hold it in, "Ms. Spencer, today someone claiming to be your boyfriend wanted to see you. But I had the bodyguards stop him. He seemed like a smooth talker."

Brenda laughed awkwardly, but when she looked up, she saw Diana's serious expression, and a bad feeling rose in her heart.

At that moment, Diana asked, "Was he very tall, handsome, with curly hair?"

Brenda swallowed hard. These features matched the man from earlier, and she nodded heavily. But thinking Charles' woman having a "boyfriend", she felt absurd.

"Ms. Spencer, did you ask him to come?" Brenda asked uncertainly.

Diana calmly replied, "Yes, I asked him to come. Isn't it said that visitors can see me after registering?"

"That's right, Ms. Spencer, but the registration list has to be approved by Mr. Percy. To prevent some..." Brenda tried to be as tactful as possible.

But the next second, Diana said, "It's okay, Charles knows him too. Just let him in next time."

Diana had Billy come today to discuss how to leave Charles. Right now, Diana was completely isolated and helpless. The Richardson Family was big enough to somewhat counter the Percy Group. Diana wouldn't let any resource she could use slip by.
