Chapter 161 nursery

Juniper was stunned, "What did you just call me?"

Charles didn't answer, just lowered his eyes, looking listless. Juniper knew he hadn't fully adapted yet and comforted him gently, "Of course, as long as I'm here, you'll always be a child of the Percy family."

From that day on, Charles lived with Juniper. But his biological father, James, never acknowledged him and even despised him. Yet Charles grew up just like that.

They thought that after Juniper's death, he would be kicked out. However, not only did Charles inherit the Percy Group, but Zachary was also sent abroad.

Thinking of this, Elise tightly gripped the cup in her hand, her knuckles turning white. She curled her lips into a sinister smile, "Don't worry, Claire. If you need my help, just ask."

The Percy Mansion.

It was noon, and Jacob was hanging out by the door with a bunch of servants. Even though the sun was shining, the cold wind was making everyone miserable.

Someone grumbled, "Jacob, I still have work to do. It's been almost half an hour. When is Ms. Spencer getting here?"

Jacob didn't budge, his eyes fixed straight ahead. He snapped, "Just wait like you're supposed to. Why all the chatter?"

The servant rolled his eyes at Jacob's words.

Suddenly, there was a stir in the crowd.

"She's here, she's here, I see the car."

Seeing her arrival, Jacob quickly started giving orders, "You guys help with the luggage. You guys head to the kitchen and get the food ready..."

As he spoke, three cars pulled up at the mansion's entrance.

Diana stepped out of the first car, looking way better than when she had fainted.

Jacob secretly sighed in relief and quickly went to greet her, "Ms. Spencer, long time no see. Your room is all set."

Diana nodded slightly. After spending half a month in the hospital, coming back to The Percy Mansion felt a bit weird.

She introduced to Evelyn, "Evelyn, this is the Percy family's butler, Jacob." Then she turned to Jacob, "Jacob, this is my maid, Evelyn. From now on, she will be responsible for my daily needs."

Jacob hesitated a bit because he had specifically chosen two maids with childcare experience for Diana's return.

"Ms. Spencer, Evelyn can take care of you. But I don't feel comfortable with just her. These two maids have experience with pregnant women. Let them help out too."

As he spoke, two maids, one plump and one thin, stepped forward and greeted Diana in unison, "Hello, Ms. Spencer."

The plump maid was older, with a round face, round nose, round eyes, and a black mole at the corner of her mouth, looking kind of funny.

The thin maid was more delicate, with a sharp chin and thin eyebrows, but her thin lips made her look a bit harsh.

Diana glanced at the two of them and didn't refuse. "Thank you, Jacob."

Jacob breathed a sigh of relief and said, "This is my duty, no need to thank me. Ms. Spencer, let's get you to your room. The wind is strong today, you don't want to catch a cold." He gestured for her to follow.

Diana nodded, but she thought it was a bit much just to go to the storage room.

But when she entered the mansion, she noticed that the sharp corners of the tables and chairs were all covered. Even the stair railings had been re-polished.

They followed Jacob to the second floor, but instead of going to the original storage room, they entered a suite.

The entire room was decorated in pink, with a carpet at the entrance. The bed was adorned with toys that little girls would like.

Diana couldn't help but twitch her mouth, "Jacob, what's this?"

Jacob was a bit embarrassed and explained, "I didn't know what style you liked, so I decorated it according to my daughter's preferences. If it's not to your liking, it can be changed at any time."

Although Diana found the room a bit too girly, Evelyn seemed to like it. "Ms. Spencer, this room is so beautiful."

Her words gave Jacob great confidence, and his smile widened.

Diana didn't want to make more demands and just asked, "Can I stay here?"

After all, before this, the best she had stayed in was a guest room.

Jacob replied, "Of course! Mr. Percy personally instructed me to prepare this room for you!"

Diana was stunned. Charles? She couldn't believe it. He actually told Jacob about this? Thinking of his deadpan expression and looking at this pink room, a strong sense of dissonance arose.

"Ms. Spencer, Mr. Percy said that as long as it's reasonable, he can meet your needs," Jacob added, feeling relieved as long as the two of them didn't argue.

Diana was chosen by Juniper to be Charles's wife, and although Charles despised her during their marriage, now that she was pregnant, Charles's attitude towards her had clearly changed. This was a good start.

"Can a nursery room be arranged?" Diana asked, and Evelyn's eyes widened.

She had casually mentioned it before, but she didn't expect Diana to actually bring it up.

Jacob thought for a moment. A nursery room was indeed necessary, as it would be needed once the baby was born. Just to confirm, he decided to ask Charles. So he took out his phone and made a call in front of Diana.

The phone didn't ring for long before it was answered.

Diana could clearly hear Charles's voice on the other end, "What is it?"

"Mr. Percy, Ms. Spencer wants to prepare a children's room at home. What do you think?"

There was a moment of silence on the other end, and Charles couldn't help but think of the child's image.

"Prepare it." With that, he hung up the phone.

If it weren't for recognizing Charles's voice, Diana would have doubted if it was really him.

Since when did Charles become so agreeable? Was it just for the child in her womb?

Jacob said, "Ms. Spencer, you heard it. Mr. Percy said yes, I'll arrange it right away."

Diana came back to her senses and instructed, "Just prepare an empty room, I'll handle the specific arrangements."

"Okay, Ms. Spencer." Jacob nodded and turned to make the preparations.

The two maids were still standing in the room.

"Do you have anything else?" Diana's gaze shifted between the two of them.

Although it was Jacob's good intention, she didn't really need anyone to serve her. Even Evelyn was just there to keep her company in the hospital.

Now with two more maids, Diana felt a bit troubled.

The plump maid spoke up, "Ms. Spencer, we haven't introduced ourselves. My name is Bronte Langley, and I've had two children. I have a lot of experience taking care of pregnant women and children."

"My name is Tessa Hawthorne, and I have a background in nursing." The thin maid Tessa spoke less and quickly lowered her head after glancing at Diana.

The two of them waited for Diana to speak, but then they heard her say, "I haven't given birth yet, and Evelyn is enough for now. Just do your work in the mansion."

Taking care of Diana involved less work, and because of her special status, the Percy family paid higher wages than ordinary servants.

Being directly rejected by her, the two maids were naturally unwilling.

Bronte forced a smile, "Ms. Spencer, we are here specifically to serve you and the child. Even if the child isn't born yet, it's good to get used to it in advance. And Evelyn isn't familiar with The Percy Mansion. With us here, we can help each other."

Tessa nodded in agreement, "Yes, Evelyn, The Percy Mansion has many rules. You're new here and don't know anything. If you anger Mr. Percy, it won't be good."

Diana looked at Evelyn for her opinion.

Evelyn bit her lip, thinking that what the two maids said made sense, so she spoke up, "Ms. Spencer, let them stay."

Seeing that she was willing, Diana didn't refuse further. "Then stay."

Bronte and Tessa's smiles became more genuine upon hearing this.

They immediately linked arms with Evelyn, "Ms. Spencer, we'll take Evelyn to familiarize herself with the mansion's layout."

Diana nodded and said, "Very well. Thank you."
