Chapter 463 The Ring

Does this mean that Charles' job will be hers in the future? But she really doesn't want to manage the Percy Group.

For the first time, Diana felt that this gamble might be too big.

Hearing her question, Charles responded with a nod and then said with a slight smile, "Yeah, but the contract only kicks in if I mess up."

In other words, the company wouldn't be handed over to her immediately; there were conditions.

Besides, even without signing this contract, they were married, and Diana could still have access to these things.

Hearing this, Diana breathed a sigh of relief and placed the document back on the table.

"Then I have no objections. You decide."

Charles nodded, glanced at the document, and said, "I'll look at it later. You should go see that lawyer."

"Alright."

Diana felt a bit uneasy with his urging.

She adjusted her hair and turned around.

Nolan bowed slightly and gestured with his hand, "Ms. Spencer, a bodyguard will accompany you shortly. Please."

Diana nodded, but Charles suddenly spoke up, "Wait a minute."

Both of them turned back, unsure of his intentions.

Especially Diana, who furrowed her brows and asked, "You're not having second thoughts, are you?"

Seeing her look at him like that, Charles glanced at her with a hint of resentment in his eyes.

But he didn't say anything. Instead, he reached into a drawer and pulled out a small, elegant velvet box, then said to Diana, "Come here."

His voice was deep, and his fingers held the box, drawing Diana's attention.

She blinked and obediently walked over to him.

Charles didn't waste any time. He took Diana's hand and opened the box.

Inside was a diamond ring.

It wasn't from a luxury brand, but the design was beautiful.

The ring featured a pink diamond, with the band designed to resemble vines, mimicking a rose.

The large gemstone sparkled in the sunlight. Before Diana could react, Charles had already slipped the ring onto her finger.

The metal felt cool against her skin, but Charles' touch was warm.

The contrasting sensations made her instinctively curl her fingers.

Charles looked at the ring, satisfied with how well it suited her hand, and squeezed her fingers twice before letting go. "It's a wedding ring. Don't take it off casually."

Hearing his words, Diana suddenly remembered their wedding ring.

That diamond was also large and bright, but it wasn't bought by Charles; it was prepared by Juniper.

When Charles put the ring on the original Diana, she felt happy.

But later, that diamond ring was lost during an argument.

It might have rolled into the drain or been thrown into the trash.

For a moment, the office fell silent.

Charles didn't see joy in Diana's expression; instead, she seemed preoccupied, which made him frown and glance at Nolan.

At that moment, Nolan, usually reliable, was staring at the ring with an exaggerated expression.

Charles cleared his throat twice, snapping Nolan back to reality.

Noticing his boss's gaze, Nolan quickly gave him a thumbs-up, his eyes full of admiration: 'Mr. Percy, you're so romantic, so thoughtful.'

Seeing Nolan like this, Charles suppressed the urge to scold him and stopped expecting a reaction from Diana. He waved his hand, "Alright, you can go now."

Diana finally looked up, disbelief in her eyes, "You bought this for me?"

"Who else?" Charles replied with a smirk, then paused and added, trying to sound casual, "I was supposed to give it to you at the wedding, but I've been swamped and can't arrange a ceremony yet. If you want, I'll give you a grander wedding."

He answered quickly, like he'd rehearsed this response a million times in his head.

Diana smiled slightly, feeling a bit strange. Charles being so accommodating made her uncomfortable.

She glanced at the ring on her finger. It was indeed beautiful, and she had always been interested in jewelry.

She didn't argue with Charles about the wedding ring, thinking it could just be a regular accessory.

The meaning of a ring is given by people anyway.

With that thought, she waved her hand, rejecting Charles' offer, and said, "No need. This is fine. I'll be going now."

She left the room, and Nolan quickly said goodbye to Charles before following her out.

At the door, Abigail and Claire occasionally glanced towards the CEO's office, waiting for Nolan to bring out new information.

Especially Claire, whose eyes were dry from staring. She rubbed her eyes while looking in the direction of the office.

Finally, under their expectant gazes, Nolan led Diana out.

As they passed the workstations, Diana didn't look around, completely ignoring the two women.

She walked quickly and soon disappeared around the corner.

Abigail turned to Claire, her eyes full of disbelief, "Ms. Murphy, doesn't she look just like her?"

She didn't say the name, but both of them knew who she meant.

Especially Claire, who knew the truth and was almost grinding her teeth.

"Stella looked similar before, but this one is identical. No wonder Mr. Percy suddenly broke off the engagement. If I were him, I'd be thrilled to find someone who looks exactly the same."

Abigail spoke to herself, not envying the woman for entering high society with a similar face, but feeling glad that Charles found someone to comfort him after losing his true love.

"I hope Mr. Percy can be happy with her this time. Otherwise, if he gets angry, I can't handle it."

Lowering her voice, Abigail prayed softly.

Beside her, Claire clenched her phone, showing a not-so-friendly smile, and whispered, "It's not certain if she'll stay until the end."

"What did you say?" Abigail didn't hear clearly and leaned closer.

Claire snapped out of it and shook her head, "Nothing. I said it's none of our business. Let's get back to work."

Meanwhile, Nolan escorted Diana downstairs and handed her over to the bodyguard.

"Ms. Spencer, I'll leave you here. Robert is in the café across the street. After your meeting, the bodyguard will bring you back."

"Okay," Diana responded indifferently. She had no plans to run today, so surveillance didn't matter.

The bodyguard, a new face wearing sunglasses, stood quietly like a palm tree.

Nolan watched them enter the café from across the street, finally relaxing.

He adjusted his tie and smoothed his hair, just about to head upstairs when a familiar male voice called from behind, "Nolan, what are you doing here?"
