Chapter 381 Shaving 1

Jacob was getting older and couldn't play with Benjamin as much, but luckily, Benjamin really liked the new caretaker, "Ms. Wipere".

Jacob bought a lot of interactive toys for them to play with together.

The floor was scattered with puzzles and building blocks.

Benjamin had just found a pack of stickers and was now sticking them all over Snowy with Diana.

Snowy's fluffy fur was covered in colorful stickers. Snowy didn't know what was happening but happily stuck out its tongue, cooperating fully.

As they continued, both Benjamin and Diana ended up with stickers all over themselves too.

Benjamin giggled as he stuck a sticker on Diana's face, and she returned the favor, both of them laughing together.

It was a picture-perfect moment, like something out of a family commercial.

That was when Charles appeared.

He stood in the doorway, backlit by the sun, making it hard to see his expression.

Diana's face lit up with a radiant smile, almost as if she was glowing.

Charles swayed slightly, his eyes stinging, feeling a bit dazed. It was as if, in that moment, he finally realized that after a long, hopeless wait, he had finally found Diana.

She had traversed the hardships of time and distance and was now standing before him, safe and sound.

It felt like a miracle, a divine blessing. Nothing had changed; Diana was still vibrant and warm, her smile as sweet as ever.

This was real. He could see, smell, hear, and feel it. He wasn't imagining things. He wasn't crazy.

In that instant, he couldn't quite describe his feelings. It was like eating a lemon—sour, a bit bitter, and it made him want to cry.

"Mr. Percy, you're back! Don't move, I'll help you!"

Jacob's attention had been on Diana and Benjamin, but when he looked up and saw the shadow at the door, he realized Charles had returned.

Charles looked thinner, his features more defined, with a stubble on his chin that he hadn't had time to shave, making him look a bit haggard.

Having been used to seeing him in his usual commanding presence, Diana was momentarily taken aback when she looked up and saw his face.

Her smile faded slightly as she heard Benjamin call out, "Mr. Percy, you're back! Are you feeling better? Does your wound still hurt?"

Benjamin ran over to him like a little cannonball but restrained himself from hugging him, just looking up at him with concern.

Charles' lips curved into a small smile as he gently patted Benjamin's head, "I'm better now."

He then withdrew his hand and looked up at Diana.

It was then that she remembered she was just an employee. Her expression froze for a moment as she stood up, noticing the stickers on herself.

Feeling awkward, she hastily peeled off a few stickers to regain her composure and greeted, "Mr. Percy."

Her tone sounded a bit formal.

Charles frowned slightly and beckoned her over, "Come here."

As Diana walked over, Jacob, who had been about to help Charles, paused, his expression complicated, his wrinkles deepening.

It looked exactly like Diana, so why didn't Charles recognize her?

Feeling Charles lean some of his weight on her shoulder, Diana steadied herself and supported him.

"What's your name?"

Before Diana could answer, Jacob said, "It's Ms. Wipere."

"Alright, Ms. Wipere. My body hasn't fully recovered yet, so I'll need your care, just as we agreed."

Diana's eyelashes fluttered as she remembered what he had said before.

It was just taking care of him. There were servants and a cook in the house, so it wouldn't be too troublesome.

He had only injured his arm, not been paralyzed.

Right, if it was just his arm, why did he need someone to support him?

Diana suddenly realized and tried to pull her hand back, but his arm held her firmly.

"Ms. Wipere, don't move. I'll fall."

"You!"

"What?"

Facing her temper, Charles turned his head, looking innocent.

Seeing his haggard face, Diana's heart softened, and she decided not to argue.

Fine, supporting him wouldn't cost her anything.

Benjamin stood by, watching Diana and Charles together, his eyes brightening. So this was how his parents used to be together.

But knowing Diana wasn't happy about it, he didn't show his joy, just helped support Charles' leg.

"Mr. Percy, I'll help too."

But he was too short, more of a hindrance than a help.

Still, Charles was in a good mood and didn't reject his help.

The two of them helped him to the elevator.

With a ding, the elevator stopped.

There was still some distance to Charles' room, and supporting him made walking difficult for Diana.

Even though her shoulder bore some of his weight, it felt like he was holding her as they walked.

Finally, they reached the room.

Just when Diana thought it was over, she heard Charles say in a low voice, "Open the door and go in."

"Mr. Percy, I'll open it!"

Benjamin eagerly opened the door before Diana could react.

He had been in this room once before. He ran straight to the big bed, kicked off his shoes, rolled around, and then patted the bed.

"Come on!"

Diana's face stiffened. Benjamin was being so reckless!

Charles was a clean freak. If he got mad and punished Benjamin, Diana wasn't sure she could save him.

But surprisingly, Charles didn't get angry. Instead, he chuckled softly.

"Alright."

Diana was puzzled. After helping Charles sit on the bed, she sighed in relief.

"Do you need anything else?"

Charles' gaze fell on her, and he was silent for a long time.

Even Benjamin felt uneasy with the prolonged silence. He climbed down from the bed and walked over to Diana, whispering, "Maybe we should go and let Mr. Percy rest."

As they moved slightly, Charles finally spoke.

"I need something."

Diana looked at him, waiting for him to continue.

"I need to shave. My right hand isn't working, so I need your help."

"Shave?"

Her tone was hesitant, thinking she had misheard.

"Yes."

"Mr. Percy, I'm a woman. I don't know how to shave. I might hurt you. Let Jacob do it."

"He has his own work. You're here to take care of me."

Charles' expression was calm, but his tone left no room for refusal.

Benjamin, seeing Diana's reluctance, patted his chest and stepped forward.

"Mr. Percy, I'm a man. I don't have a beard yet, but I can try."

"You're too short."

Charles' words doused Benjamin's enthusiasm. He pouted, crossed his arms, and huffed. "What's the big deal?"

Their banter lightened the mood, making Diana less resistant.

"Fine, I'll do it. But I don't know how to shave, so if..."

Before she could finish, Charles interrupted, "I'll teach you."

Diana's lips moved slightly, but she didn't say anything, tacitly agreeing with him.

"Help me to the bathroom first."
