Chapter 506 Amusement Park
In the morning, Jacob and a few servants had watched the entire cake-making process. Charles had done it all by himself, without even the pastry chef present.
The cake was even more perfect than the one from the day before. Charles truly had a knack for everything he did.
After explaining, Jacob couldn't help but add, "Mr. Percy was so happy while making the cake. I haven't seen him this joyful since that incident five years ago. Mrs. Percy, I'm so grateful you came back."
Diana bit the inside of her cheek, unsure of what to say. It seemed like everything was unfolding in a way she hadn't anticipated.
Charles wasn't supposed to be like this. He was supposed to be cold, unfeeling, ruthless...
But now, these little details he got so right made her question which version of him was real.
Could it be that Charles, like her, had changed souls?
Before she could ponder further, Benjamin came running in like a little cannonball.
Seeing Diana standing there in a daze, he hugged her leg and grinned, "Hey! I caught you!"
Diana snapped out of her thoughts and looked down at her son, who was sweating from running. She knelt down to wipe his forehead.
"It's getting hotter. You shouldn't run around outside. What if you get heatstroke?"
Benjamin shrugged it off. "We're going to the amusement park later. I need to get used to the sun!"
Diana couldn't help but tap his nose playfully, pretending to be angry. "You're such a smart aleck."
"Of course! I'm the smartest kid!" Benjamin boasted without a hint of modesty.
Then he grabbed Diana's hand and started swinging it. "Ms. Spencer, did you see the new cake? It's so pretty! Just the way I like it."
Diana nodded, not holding back her praise. "Yes, it's beautiful. Charles made it. He's really talented."
Seeing that she was willing to praise Charles, Benjamin's eyes lit up, and he nodded enthusiastically.
"Yeah, yeah! I think it's amazing too. I super-duper love this cake! It must taste great."
Kids always use exaggerated words to express their likes, and though it sounded childish, it was incredibly sincere.
Diana ruffled his hair. "We'll eat it together when we get back tonight."
Benjamin nodded vigorously. More than the cake, he loved the feeling of being together as a family.
After their conversation, lunch was quickly finished.
Even as they left the house, Benjamin's excitement didn't wane.
He chattered non-stop about the rides he wanted to go on and the snacks he wanted to eat, even planning out the order of their activities.
Diana listened with a smile, occasionally chiming in. The atmosphere in the car was light and joyful.
Even the usually stern bodyguard in black silently turned on the car's music and played a birthday song for Benjamin.
As the car approached the edge of the city, the colorful amusement park came into view.
This amusement park was different from the one they had visited last time, and it was much larger.
The park was divided into four sections, each with its own architectural style and attractions.
Diana doubted they could cover everything in one day.
As they neared the park, Benjamin pressed his face against the window, eyes wide with excitement as he watched the Ferris wheel slowly turn and the roller coaster zip along its tracks, accompanied by the screams of riders.
The car stopped, and Benjamin was the first to jump out, his eyes sparkling as he looked at the giant mascot at the entrance.
The mascot was a cat, inflated with air, one paw waving back and forth like a lucky cat, looking particularly charming.
Benjamin couldn't help but raise his voice. "Ms. Spencer, look! The cat wants us to go in!"
Diana squinted up at it, her interest piqued. She directed Benjamin to stand by it so she could take a picture.
Benjamin wasn't the type to spoil the fun. Although he wanted to go in, he was happy to pose for a photo with his mommy.
After the photo, Diana suddenly remembered that they had arrived at the amusement park, but where was Charles?
Was he still working?
She held back the eager Benjamin and fiddled with her phone to send Charles a message.
Barely two minutes after sending the message, Charles called.
The other end was very quiet, and Charles's deep, melodious voice came through like a cello.
"Are you there? Where are you now?"
Because of the cake, Diana's feelings towards Charles were complicated. Hearing his voice, she suddenly felt her face heat up.
She handed the phone to Benjamin, signaling him to answer.
Benjamin held the phone with both hands and spoke loudly into the receiver.
"Mr. Percy, we're at the amusement park entrance. Where are you?"
Hiding in a corner, Charles finally looked up, his gaze searching the entrance. He only saw other visitors and the back of the mascot.
"I can't see you. Describe something nearby so I can find you."
Benjamin looked around and replied, "There's a big cat here, and the ticket booth is on the left!"
Charles understood their location. They were in front of the mascot, while he was behind it, so he couldn't see them.
"Walk forward. I'm just ahead."
He didn't hang up the phone, holding it as he stepped out from his hiding spot.
Diana and Benjamin followed his instructions and walked forward.
It wasn't a busy day, so the amusement park wasn't crowded, but there were still people coming and going.
As she looked around for Charles, Diana couldn't help but wonder why he hadn't rented out the park. It seemed more his style.
Tall, short, fat, thin—she passed several men, but none were him.
She frowned, thinking it would be hard to spot him in the crowd.
But then she saw him, recognizing him instantly.
In the colorful backdrop of the amusement park, Charles stood out in his suit, broad-shouldered and slim-waisted, his figure tall and imposing.
Even from a distance, his chiseled features and distinguished air made him stand out, looking out of place among the crowd.
He held his phone to his ear, and at almost the same moment, he saw Diana.
She wore a simple white dress, her hair in a side braid adorned with lily-of-the-valley accessories, giving her a soft, glowing aura.
As for Benjamin, he was too short and hidden by the crowd, so Charles didn't notice him at all.
