Chapter 218 Going Home

Claire blinked, finally getting it. No wonder she thought this woman was a bit off earlier; it was Diana!

But wait, didn't Charles really dislike Diana? Why would he let her bring the medicine?

"Why would his ex-wife still bring the medicine?" Claire muttered under her breath.

Another receptionist looked around to make sure no one was eavesdropping, then whispered, "Mr. Percy used to really dislike Ms. Spencer, but their relationship got better after the divorce."

"Got better?" Claire's voice shot up, catching the attention of people nearby.

Realizing she was making a scene, she cleared her throat, "I mean, how did that happen?"

"We can't understand the ways of the rich," the receptionist sighed, shaking her head.

Claire bit her lip; this Diana was more of a headache than she thought.

Upstairs, Nolan knocked on the CEO's office door with the stomach medicine.

Without waiting for Charles to respond, he pushed the door open and walked in. "Mr. Percy, the medicine's here."

Charles, looking pale, took the stomach medicine from him silently and washed it down with the cold water on the table.

The medicine would take a bit to kick in, and his tone was a bit annoyed, "Why did it take so long?"

Nolan hesitated, then said honestly, "Ms. Spencer delivered it. The folks downstairs didn't know the details, so they stopped her."

"Diana?" Charles asked.

"Yeah, Ms. Spencer had brought stuff before, but you were really against it. Then you told us..." Nolan paused, awkwardly scratching his cheek before continuing, "to throw away everything she brought. The receptionists didn't know what to do, so they stopped her again."

Charles's lips pressed into a thin line; that was indeed what he had said before. "Did she wait downstairs for long?"

Nolan shook his head; he had gone down and brought the medicine up right away, with almost no interaction with Diana.

But from the scene he saw, she had probably been there for a while.

So he cautiously said, "She was probably there for a bit. Ms. Spencer was waiting at the reception the whole time. She only left after I took the medicine."

Hearing this, Charles raised an eyebrow, thinking, 'Diana still cares about me.'

Whether it was the medicine starting to work or the feeling of being cared for, the burning sensation in his stomach eased a lot.

He sat up straight, casually flipping through the documents on the table, and said in a low voice, "Don't stop her next time she comes."

Nolan was taken aback; had Charles changed his mind about Diana?

He didn't get what Charles was thinking, but he nodded, "Got it."

On the way back, bodyguard Jett was driving up front, and Diana was playing with her phone in the back seat.

Lately, she hadn't met up with Isolde, but they still chatted on the phone.

The Porter Group was super busy at the end of the year, but Isolde, being the boss, had some free time.

Diana vented to her about Charles's weird behavior, and Isolde, on the other end, cursed even more fiercely than she did. Her righteous tone made Diana laugh several times.

Another message popped up, but Diana was a bit troubled.

It was from Sabrina.

Sabrina and Diana were about the same age, but Diana had lived two lives and had been deeply scarred by society.

When she encountered a young and energetic girl like Sabrina, she always felt like she was looking at a kid and found it hard to keep the conversation going.

But Sabrina was persistent, often sharing her school life and daily activities with her.

Over time, Diana found Sabrina really cute, but she always struggled with how to respond in a way that matched a college student's mindset.

Luckily, Sabrina didn't seem to mind. She only had Noah and Garry in the Rainbow Federation. Even though they spoiled her, they couldn't really understand her.

Plus, Sabrina was a bit spoiled and didn't have many friends at school.

So, she had a special fondness for Diana, who was gentle, smart, and a bit older.

The more she hung out with Diana, the more she thought Diana would make the perfect sister-in-law.

Right now, Noah was super busy, so Sabrina took it upon herself to chat with Diana.

Sabrina: [Diana, are you free on Sunday? I don't have classes and really want to hang out, but I don't have any friends here in the Rainbow Federation.]

Sabrina knew Diana was soft-hearted and could hardly say no to her.

She even added a crying bunny emoji to her message.

Diana felt a bit helpless, almost picturing Sabrina as the crying bunny.

Thinking that Sabrina was indeed lonely and that she had nothing planned for Sunday, Diana replied: [Sure, you pick the time and place, and I'll be there.]

Sabrina's eyes lit up when she saw the message, but her excitement quickly faded.

Diana: [I'll invite Isolde too. The more, the merrier.]

This was a bit of a fib; Diana didn't really like crowds. She just worried that hanging out alone with Sabrina might be awkward, so she decided to bring Isolde along.

Sabrina pouted, a bit unhappy, but she agreed, keeping her goal in mind.

Sabrina: [Okay! I'll let you know the details!]

Seeing Sabrina agree, Diana smiled.

She was about to tell Isolde about the plan when Jett, who was driving, suddenly swerved sharply. The car shook violently.

Luckily, Diana was wearing her seatbelt; otherwise, she would've been thrown around.

But her phone wasn't so lucky; it slipped from her hand and fell to the floor, sliding under the seat.

Diana rubbed her chest, sore from the seatbelt, and frowned, "What the heck are you doing?"

"Sorry, Ms. Spencer, someone is trying to cut us off."

Jett's forehead was covered in sweat, and the car was still moving. He gripped the steering wheel, constantly dodging.

Diana was being tossed around and almost felt like throwing up.

She looked out the window and saw why Jett was having such a hard time.

There were three cars trying to cut them off.

One on the left and one on the right blocked the way ahead, leaving no room to change lanes.

And there was another car behind them, sticking close, blocking the rear.

Jett could only weave through the gaps but was still surrounded by the three cars.

This wasn't just some random cutting off; it was a planned attack.

Jett, who was driving, couldn't help but curse. He rolled down the window and shouted, "How dare you cut me off? If you stop, I'll make sure you regret it!"

Diana frowned, making sure her seatbelt was secure. Holding her stomach, she snorted, "Crash into them."

They had left the busy area, and there weren't many cars around. Even if they crashed, it wouldn't cause a big pile-up.

Rather than being bullied by these people, it was better to confront them head-on.

Jett was stunned, "What?"

"Crash into them. Charles can afford it." Diana raised her voice. Jett had been cursing fiercely just now; why was he hesitating now?

"But Ms. Spencer, you're pregnant. We should..." Jett hesitated.

"I said crash into them. I'm carrying Charles's child. If I have a miscarriage because of these three, do you think he'll let you off? If you crash into them, don't worry. I'll make sure you're safe no matter what."

It seemed her words worked. Jett pursed his lips and answered with action.

There was a loud crash.
