Chapter 31 What Exactly Happened
Charles, that jerk! Total scam artist!
But then Nolan's next words made Diana take a deep breath and calm down.
Nolan: [Ms. Spencer, you know how Mr. Percy operates. If you don't agree, the deal's off. We have other ways to get the gem.]
Diana brushed him off and replied.
Diana: [Yeah, I know exactly what kind of person Charles is, but right now, I'm the only one who knows where the gem is.]
Diana: [I can't accept these terms. If the deal's off, then the gem might as well not exist.]
A bead of sweat trickled down Nolan's forehead, accidentally hitting his phone and sending a "Love you" emoji.
Diana immediately shot back a question mark.
The next second, she saw the emoji was retracted, like it never happened.
Nolan: [Ms. Spencer, we can't meet your original terms. If you destroy the gem, then you...]
Nolan didn't finish, but Diana already knew how ruthless Charles could be, so she decided to take what she could get.
Diana: [I want 15% of the Spencer Group shares from Mr. Percy.]
Diana only had 15% right now, and she wasn't about to bust her butt for such a small stake.
Nolan quickly checked with Charles.
Charles didn't hesitate and agreed right away.
Nolan: [Alright, Ms. Spencer, come sign the contract tomorrow.]
Seeing Nolan's quick reply, Diana regretted not asking for more.
Now, Diana had 30% of the Spencer Group shares, while Charles still held 40%, making him the largest shareholder. But Diana was confident she could eventually get the rest back. So she replied.
Diana: [Looking forward to our cooperation.]
Just like that, the issue that had been dragging on for days between Diana and Charles was settled over the phone.
Once the deal was done, Diana couldn't wait to tell Robert and Evelyn. The mood in the Spencer Family finally lightened up.
That night, Diana received the gem via Dark Web logistics. She didn't dare mess with it, so she just carefully checked it and then cautiously put it in her bag. It was a real treasure.
The next day, Diana got up early. With such an important company handover, she had to be serious. This time, Diana went upstairs smoothly; the receptionists and security guards all recognized her. No one dared to stop her, but just as she was about to enter Charles's office, she ran into Clara coming out.
Diana didn't want to waste time and pretended not to see her as she walked in.
Clara, catching sight of Diana daring to show up at the Percy Group again, exclaimed, "Who let you in?"
She stepped forward to grab Diana's hand and drag her back. "Diana! I can't believe you're so shameless! You still have the guts to come to the company. Do you think you can make Mr. Percy change his mind? Get out!"
Diana frowned, shook off Clara's hand, and said disdainfully, "Let go of me! Do you think everyone is as desperate for a man as you are?"
Clara, provoked by Diana's words, raised her hand to slap her. "You bitch! You have nothing now, how can you talk to me like that!"
Diana didn't even flinch and grabbed Clara's hand. "Even if I have nothing, that's none of your business."
With that, Diana pushed Clara away. Clara, wobbling on her high heels, lost her balance and fell to the ground.
Just then, Nolan came out of the office and saw the scene. Clara, who had been fierce, immediately squeezed out a few tears, looking pitiful.
Nolan, seeing Clara and Diana at it again, felt annoyed. But there was important business, so he ignored Clara's pitiful look and reminded Diana, "Ms. Spencer, Mr. Percy is waiting for you. Did you bring the item?"
"I did. By the way, can't the Percy Group hire normal people? There's always someone blocking my way." Diana rolled her eyes at Clara on the ground and walked past her.
Halfway, Diana suddenly remembered something and turned back to Clara, saying, "Don't you want to know why I'm here? Come in and see for yourself." With that, Diana continued to follow Nolan to the CEO's office.
Clara, angry but curious about what Diana was up to, followed them. She thought, 'Charles hates Diana so much. He actually wants to meet her. Diana must be up to something, and I need to expose her.'
Charles, looking at some documents, stopped when Diana entered and said the most polite words he had in a while, "Have a seat."
Diana didn't hesitate and found a seat. They were about 6 feet apart.
Nolan, seeing everyone seated, took out two contracts and handed them to Diana. Charles had already signed them, just waiting for her.
Nolan said coldly, "Ms. Spencer, these are the terms we discussed last night. As agreed, you give us the item, and in return, the Percy Group will withdraw the Spencer Group's bankruptcy liquidation and give you 15% of the Spencer Group shares. You will become the largest shareholder besides Mr. Percy, and you won't have to repay any debts."
Clara, who had come in later, was red with jealousy. 'What is going on? What deal are they making? Why does Charles suddenly let Diana off?' She was confused.
Back then, Nathan had used the Percy Group's investment to profit and ruin the Spencer Group.
But why, as soon as Diana returned, the Spencer Group didn't have to go bankrupt? The debts didn't have to be repaid, and even shares were given away.
Clara, wondering about Diana's recent actions, glared from the corner, unsure of what to do.
Nolan continued, "This is the contract. Please review it, Ms. Spencer. If there are no issues, please sign here."
Diana carefully reviewed the contract, looking for any traps. She regretted not bringing Robert with her in her haste this morning. So Diana asked, "Can I let my lawyer review the contract?"
Nolan nodded. "Of course."
Seeing Charles didn't object, Diana took photos of the contract and sent them to Robert.
