Chapter 234 Creating a Style
Diana quickly sensed something was off, but before she could say anything, Sabrina jumped in, "No way! If people find out I still need my brother to tag along at my age, I'd die of embarrassment."
She pouted, frowned a bit, and clung to Diana's arm, pleading, "Diana, come on; you won't say no, right?"
Sabrina's eyes got all watery and pitiful-looking.
Diana sighed, closing her eyes. She was a sucker for kind words, especially from a college girl.
"Alright, but I'm not socializing for you," she finally gave in.
Sabrina lit up instantly, hugging Diana tight. "Thanks, Diana! Don't worry, you won't have to socialize at all!"
She thought, 'With Noah around, I can just shove everything onto him.'
With Diana on board, Sabrina pulled out her phone, "Let's get the driver to take us for a makeover."
But Diana stopped her, shaking her head, "My bodyguard can handle it; he's right here."
Right on cue, the bodyguard appeared, bowed slightly, and said, "Ms. Spencer, Ms. Glenn, I'll get the car. Please wait downstairs."
Sabrina's eyes widened, "How long has he been here?"
"He's been here the whole time," Diana said calmly. She'd asked him to follow from a distance to avoid freaking Sabrina out.
Soon, they arrived at the styling studio Sabrina had mentioned. Unlike Amelia's quiet spot, this place was buzzing.
A staff member greeted Sabrina, "Ms. Glenn, welcome back! It's been a while, and you look even more stunning."
Sabrina brushed it off, "I booked a private room. Take me there. And she's getting styled with me."
The staff's smile faltered, looking a bit uneasy.
Sabrina frowned, "What's the holdup? Take me to the private room."
The staff, looking nervous, explained, "Sorry, Ms. Glenn, we didn't expect you now. Your private room isn't ready yet."
Sabrina's temper flared, "What do you mean it's not ready? I made a reservation; you should've kept it for me all day!"
She'd planned this day for ages, and now there was a hiccup she couldn't stand.
The manager, noticing the commotion, hurried over and apologized, "Sorry, Ms. Glenn, it's our mistake. Please let us fix it."
Sabrina, still fuming, snapped, "How are you going to fix it?"
The manager quickly offered, "We'll waive all your and your friend's expenses this time, but you'll have to share a private room with other customers. Don't worry, our rooms are spacious, and the other customers are well-behaved."
Sabrina shot back, "Do I look like I need free styling?"
"Of course not, Ms. Glenn. We just want to make it up to you," the manager explained.
Diana realized the studio wanted to keep everyone happy and didn't want to upset other customers, so they were hoping Sabrina would compromise.
So Diana grabbed Sabrina's arm and said, "Alright, let's just go somewhere else then."
The manager, still apologizing, felt a wave of regret. Losing a customer wasn't part of the plan.
But Sabrina cleared her throat and said, "Diana, if we leave now, we won't have time to get styled."
The manager's eyes lit up, sensing an opportunity. She quickly stepped forward, opened a brochure, and started promoting, "Ms. Glenn, don't worry. Even if you have to share a room, we have a celebrity stylist who's amazing at party makeup. I'll have them do your makeup!"
Sabrina didn't really want to leave; she just wanted to see their reaction. Seeing their sincere attitude, she raised her chin and said, "Alright, we'll give it a try."
With the issue resolved, the manager breathed a sigh of relief and quickly escorted them to the private room, afraid they might change their minds.
As soon as they entered the room, they saw a woman getting styled. Diana recognized her immediately as Charles' secretary from the Percy Group.
But Diana didn't dwell on it and sat down.
Claire, on the other hand, felt a mix of jealousy and confusion. Since their last meeting, Diana had given her a strong sense of crisis. Now, seeing her here, Claire couldn't help but wonder what she was up to.
The makeup artist interrupted her thoughts, "Hello, what kind of styling would you like?"
Before Diana could speak, Sabrina answered, "We're going to a party, so make us look as beautiful as possible."
The makeup artist smiled and nodded, but Diana added, "Just keep it simple and elegant. We don't want to outshine the birthday person."
Sabrina pouted but held back and compromised, "Do as she says."
Claire overheard their conversation. A birthday party? She had a feeling their destination tonight was the same as hers.
Yesterday, she had subtly asked Nolan who Charles would bring to the Richardson family's birthday party. But Nolan was tight-lipped and didn't reveal anything.
Claire had no choice but to use Elise's connections to get an invitation. Even if Charles didn't bring her, she would go to keep an eye on things.
Now, seeing Diana, she became even more vigilant.
Claire's makeup was almost done, so she raised her hand to signal the makeup artist to stop, "I'm going to the restroom."
Diana and Sabrina didn't notice her leaving. As soon as Claire stepped out, she quickly dialed a number.
When the call connected, Nolan's cold voice came through, "Hello, Ms. Murphy, what can I do for you?"
Claire cleared her throat and said, "Mr. Smith, could you please confirm if Mr. Percy truly doesn't need my company at the party tonight?"
Nolan checked the time; there were still a few hours before the party. He decided to be honest with Claire.
"Yes, Ms. Murphy. Mr. Percy already has other arrangements for his companion tonight. Consider it a day off for you; just relax."
As the call ended, Claire's lips tightened, and a hint of jealousy appeared in her eyes. She was almost certain that Diana was Charles's companion for tonight!
