Chapter 462 Calm

Claire felt a wave of absurdity wash over her as she listened to Elise. She almost immediately refuted Elise's words.

Holding her head in her hands, she was utterly baffled.

If Diana's resurrection was already hard to believe, the appearance of that child was even more outrageous.

So now the situation was that Diana had left a child after the car accident and then emerged unscathed from a shipwreck?

This was beyond human comprehension.

"Is she a superhero or something?"

Claire's voice was sharp, her tone odd due to her fluctuating emotions.

On the other end of the line, Elise remained calm. "She played us all. We always thought she was just some clueless orphan. Who knew she had all these tricks up her sleeve?"

Diana seemed like a completely different person before and after the divorce.

Who was behind her, helping her escape unscathed from Charles?

Elise pursed her lips, her tone becoming more serious. "You said it yourself, we're in this together now. I don't want her living in this world anymore. This time, it has to be clean. I want to see her pushed into the incinerator with my own eyes."

She didn't mention the child again, as that was mostly Elise's speculation.

Although there was no concrete evidence, just a hint was enough for Claire to understand.

Claire's mind was reeling from the intense shock. Even with the facts laid out before her, it all felt like a surreal dream.

It was as if she had stepped into a looped world, with Diana as the resurrecting boss.

Taking a deep breath to calm herself, Claire responded to Elise, "I get it. If she dares to come back, she must be tired of living. We're not the only ones who want her gone."

There was also someone else who probably saw Diana as a thorn in their side.

In the CEO's office, Charles was working at his desk.

Diana, instead of watching him, was playing with her new phone by the floor-to-ceiling window.

The new phone was a gift from Nolan, with only Charles in the contacts.

Besides that, it had a few games, probably to keep her entertained.

Diana fiddled with it for a while and discovered that any attempt to contact someone else would prompt a permission screen requiring a password.

It was obviously Charles' doing, but bypassing such things was child's play for Diana.

So she didn't complain, instead, she immersed herself in the games.

Compared to their close interaction last night, they were now quite distant.

Charles was somewhat displeased.

He looked away from his computer screen and cleared his throat, "You're here to keep me company at work. Why are you so far away?"

Diana, engrossed in her game, didn't look up.

He raised his voice, "Diana!"

"What?"

Diana finally snapped out of it, but her eyes remained on her phone.

She responded perfunctorily, "What's up? I'm listening."

Charles pursed his lips in silence, wondering if he shouldn't have given her the phone.

He called out to Diana again but didn't say anything. After a moment of silence, Diana finished her game, put away her phone, and ran over to him, "What's up? Are we signing the agreement?"

Earlier, Nolan had come in to report that the agreement was still being drafted. She didn't expect it to be ready so soon.

Charles glared at her, his tone cold, "Sit next to me."

Diana tilted her head slightly, looking at the heavy desk and the pile of documents on it, showing a reluctant expression, "You know, I've suddenly lost interest in confidential matters."

She had seen enough yesterday. Did she have to look again today?

She wasn't a monarch who needed to review state affairs daily.

Charles found it amusing. He raised his chin and dangled a bait, "Everything said at the door counts. I'll have Nolan contact your friend. Who do you want to see today?"

Hearing this, Diana's eyes widened slightly. She placed her hands on the desk, leaning forward to close the distance between them.

Their eyes met, and Charles could see the excitement in Diana's eyes.

"Really?"

She couldn't hide her joy in her voice, "I want to see Robert Davis."

She had given Robert all the things Bianca left behind. She wondered if he still had them.

If possible, she wanted to get the house back, as a keepsake for herself.

"Really, you can. But you have to keep me company at work and sit next to me."

Although Charles could be a jerk sometimes, his current expression didn't seem like he was lying. Diana's heart warmed, and she immediately agreed.

She ran to the side, grabbed a chair, and sat next to him like last night.

As if to reward her obedience, Charles picked up the internal phone in front of her.

Abigail answered, "Mr. Percy, do you need anything?"

"I need Nolan."

"Okay."

After a moment, Nolan's voice came through, "Mr. Percy."

"Arrange for Robert Davis to meet at the café downstairs."

"Robert Davis?"

Nolan was momentarily confused, not immediately recalling who that was.

Seeing him only half-understand, Diana quickly leaned over, "Nolan, Robert is the lawyer who used to work with me. He's a good friend of my mom's. Do you remember?"

With her reminder, Nolan finally had a vague recollection.

He thought for a moment and nodded, "Okay, I'll find him now."

Barring any surprises, Robert should still be at that law firm.

Nolan was always reliable. After hanging up, Diana sat back down, satisfied, "Alright, you can work now. I'll be here."

"Okay."

Their exchange was harmonious. Charles responded lightly and refocused on his work.

Charles had always managed the company's affairs without feeling tired.

To him, it was both a trophy and a responsibility.

But today, with Diana by his side, he had an unprecedented urge to ditch work and take a walk with her.

Diana's light laughter reached his ears, probably because she saw something amusing.

Charles lowered his eyelashes, dismissing his earlier thoughts, and smiled.

Oh well, this was nice too.

After some time, Nolan finally knocked on the CEO's office door again.

He came in holding a document, his expression serious, "Mr. Percy, here's the agreement. Please review it. If everything is in order, you both can sign it. I've also arranged for Robert to meet at the café downstairs in an hour."

He placed the agreement on the desk.

Nolan's efficiency was impressive. Diana gave him an appreciative look and reached for the agreement.

The terms were all as she and Charles had discussed, and at the bottom, there was a share transfer agreement.

Diana paused, pulling out that sheet.

She had thought Charles was just speaking off the cuff, but he had actually had Nolan draft a contract.

She turned her head and asked, "Are you sure you want to sign this?"
