Chapter 216 Sold
Charles said coldly, "Just leave it at the office."
Nolan quickly realized Charles was talking about the necklace and replied, "Got it, Mr. Percy."
Turning around, Nolan saw the mountain of paperwork and felt a bit overwhelmed.
Since the call was still ongoing, he gathered his courage and asked, "Mr. Percy, when are you coming to the office? There are too many unresolved issues from the shareholders' meeting, and I can't make all the decisions on your behalf."
Nolan was usually pretty good at handling things, but he didn't expect Charles not to return after leaving yesterday.
He figured mentioning the necklace might get Charles's attention.
Luckily, Charles was always a workaholic. He said, "Got it, I'll be there soon."
Nolan hung up, feeling a bit excited. He never thought he'd have to push Charles to come to work.
Why did it feel so satisfying? Is this what being a boss feels like?
Charles left in a hurry. Jacob had planned a fancy dinner for Charles and Diana, hoping to help them bond over a meal.
But now, that plan was out the window again.
Since that day, Charles had been holed up at the Percy Group for two days straight and hadn't come back.
Jacob was getting anxious, wondering if he should remind Diana.
But Diana seemed pretty happy after Charles left, and the puppy had been cleaned up and brought over.
Right now, she and Evelyn were playing with the dog on the lawn in the backyard.
Even though it was winter, the sun was out, making it feel warm.
The puppy, tired from playing, lay still on the lawn. Evelyn picked it up and smiled at Diana.
"Ms. Spencer, give it a name. It's weird to keep calling it 'the puppy'."
Diana raised an eyebrow and thought for a moment.
The dog's fur was snow-white, and it was found in a snowdrift.
"Let's call it Snowy."
It seemed to understand Diana. Snowy, lying in Evelyn's arms, barked and wriggled to get down.
It ran and jumped around her excitedly.
"Ms. Spencer, it seems to like the name," Evelyn laughed and clapped her hands, "Snowy!"
"Ms. Spencer." Jacob had come over at some point and saw Diana having fun. He didn't want to interrupt, but this couldn't wait.
Diana turned and asked, "What's up, Jacob?"
Jacob held a bottle of medicine with foreign writing all over it.
"Ms. Spencer, this is Mr. Percy's stomach medicine. The company called and said his stomach problem flared up. This medicine is from abroad and isn't available locally. Could you take it to him for me?"
Diana looked puzzled. With so many servants at the Percy Mansion, why did she need to run errands?
Seeing her confusion, Jacob explained, "My legs hurt terribly in winter, and many of the servants are sick with colds. I really can't leave, so I have to trouble you."
Maybe it was his sincere tone, but Diana couldn't bring herself to refuse.
Thinking she needed to go out to see Robert anyway, she decided to do it today.
With that in mind, she stood up, brushed the grass off her clothes, took the stomach medicine, and said, "Alright, I'll take it over later."
Hearing her agree, Jacob felt relieved, hoping Charles and Diana could have a good talk during this opportunity.
Diana explained things to Evelyn and then called Robert, "Robert, about the shares, I have time today. Let's meet. The location is..."
A few days ago, Diana had reclaimed all the shares, and now she was about to make a big move.
On the phone, they agreed to meet at a café near the Percy Group.
Diana handed the stomach medicine to her bodyguard and pointed to the building across the street. "Take this to the receptionist. I need to talk to Robert."
The bodyguard looked conflicted but eventually shook his head. "Ms. Spencer, I can't leave you alone. Let's deliver it together after your meeting."
Diana's grip on the medicine bottle tightened, but she kept her cool. "Fine, but stay far enough away. We're discussing company matters."
The bodyguard nodded and sat at a table about 15 feet away, keeping a close eye on her.
"Does Charles always have you under surveillance like this?" Robert asked, looking puzzled. This level of protection seemed excessive.
Diana sighed and replied calmly, "I'm carrying his child. He's worried I'll run off with the baby. I'm lucky I can even go out."
It wasn't that she was used to being watched, but she did have thoughts of running away.
Robert sighed, pulled out some documents, and said quietly, "These are all the shares. With Charles's share, we're already the largest shareholders."
The implication was clear: there was no need to acquire all the shares.
Diana shook her head. Charles could give his shares, but he could also take them back. Trusting him completely wasn't an option if she wanted to secure the Spencer Group.
She had promised the original Diana to keep the Spencer Group, and she intended to keep that promise.
"Robert, I want to sell the company," Diana said slowly.
"What?" Robert was taken aback.
"I said I want to sell the company," she repeated.
Robert frowned. They had gone through so much trouble to reclaim the shares, and now she wanted to sell them all. This was the Spencer family's legacy for generations.
When Diana was determined to reclaim the Spencer Group, Robert thought she had the spirit of Bianca. But now, what was this?
Being hired by the family, he couldn't directly oppose her decision, so he asked, "Selling the company isn't something that can be done in a day. If you really want to sell, what are your requirements for the buyer?"
"I've already found a buyer." Diana took out a business card from her bag and pushed it to Robert.
"You found one?" Robert frowned and picked up the card. It only had a name and a phone number, revealing nothing else. "Dean? He is your buyer?"
Selling a company wasn't a trivial matter. If they encountered an unreliable buyer, the Spencer Group would be ruined.
Robert couldn't help but ask more questions. "Who is this person? I've never heard of him."
"A foreign buyer. Don't worry, Robert. We've known each other for a long time. You should know my character."
Diana's tone was confident, and she seemed to have everything under control.
Robert was still somewhat reluctant, but Diana's decisions had rarely been wrong. So he asked in a low voice, "How much do you plan to sell it for?"
"How much?" Diana paused and said, "Five million dollars."
She had given Nathan and the others five million dollars recently, and it would be nice to make up for it.
"Five million dollars?" Robert stood up abruptly, almost thinking he had misheard.
Seeing people around them looking over, Robert sat down and lowered his voice, "Selling a company is a significant and complex endeavor. Do you know what five million dollars means?"
Diana nodded, thinking for a moment.
Robert thought she had come to her senses, and his expression softened a bit.
But the next second, Diana smiled and said, "Then eight million dollars. That's a nice price."
