Chapter 483 Reminiscing

For a moment, the air seemed to freeze.

Like Evelyn, Isolde's first reaction upon seeing Diana wasn't excitement, but a dazed confusion.

She stared at them as they walked over, and even after they sat down, she remained unresponsive.

Diana, puzzled by Isolde's lack of reaction, waved her hand in front of her face.

"Isolde!"

The next second, Diana's cheeks were pinched, her lips forced into a pout, resembling a bird's beak.

Her eyes widened, and she mumbled incoherently.

Isolde scrutinized Diana closely before her own eyes turned red.

A sharp slap echoed through the room as Isolde smacked Diana's arm, causing her to gasp in pain.

"You really are alive! It's true! Diana, you scared me to death back then!"

Isolde's voice was high-pitched, almost loud enough to lift the roof. If they weren't in a private room, they might have received complaints.

Tears streamed down her face, her expression a mix of crying and laughing.

Another round of slaps followed.

Diana quickly grabbed Isolde's excited hands, gasping,

"Isolde, stop! You're going to kill me!"

Hearing the word "kill," Isolde immediately covered Diana's mouth, glaring at her seriously, "Don't say that word. It's been so long since we've seen each other, can't I touch you a bit?"

"Isolde, my arm is swollen from your slaps. I'm right here in front of you, we can talk about anything, just don't hit me."

Diana rescued her arm from Isolde's grip, speaking sternly.

Evelyn, watching from the side, couldn't help but smile. Her smile was sweet, with a dimple at the corner of her mouth.

"It's wonderful that we're all together again. Ms. Spencer, Ms. Porter and I have missed you."

It seemed to be the first time since Diana's return that she felt so relaxed and happy.

She opened her arms to hug Isolde, saying earnestly, "Isolde, what happened back then was my fault. I left without saying a word."

Isolde's eyes reddened again. She wiped her tears and pulled Diana out of the hug.

Grasping Diana's arms, she replied, "You had your reasons back then, we understand. It's also my fault for not being able to help you, otherwise you wouldn't have had to..."

Isolde paused for a few seconds, unable to say the word "suicide," and took a deep breath before continuing,

"But now, knowing you're alive, we're all very happy. If you need any help, just let us know. Don't try to handle everything alone."

Diana was deeply moved, feeling the urge to cry but embarrassed, so she turned her head to  change the subject,

"I know, I know. By the way, when are we eating? I'm starving."

Isolde chuckled and poked her head with a finger, "The food will be here soon. I ordered your favorites. If it's not enough, we'll add more."

Sure enough, shortly after she spoke, the waiter began bringing the food.

The three of them ate and chatted, the atmosphere light and joyful.

Over the past five years, Isolde had transformed from a struggling stay-at-home mom into a formidable businesswoman.

During their conversation, she got straight to the point.

"Diana, Charles is not easy to deal with. Leaving him will require a lot of effort."

She still remembered how decisively he had dealt with her ex-husband, his cold demeanor unforgettable.

It was no wonder Diana chose to fake her death to escape. With his wealth and power, he could have found her anywhere.

The clinking of cutlery against plates rang out as Diana speared a piece of steak, replying,"I'm not afraid of challenges. But he's not as easy to fool this time. I haven't figured out how to leave yet."

She then stuffed the steak into her mouth, chewing it vigorously as if it were Charles.

Isolde felt a surge of sympathy and sighed, following Diana's lead, "Unless he hates you, doesn't like you anymore. Like when you divorced. How did you make him hate you so much back then?"

Evelyn immediately defended her,

"Diana's always been amazing. Charles was just blind!"

Diana seemed to have a sudden realization, her eyes lighting up.

Of course! She could revert to her pre-divorce self, making Charles detest her again.

Ideally, he'd divorce her again and send her far away with a plane ticket.

Excited, she turned to Isolde,

"Isolde! You're a genius!"

She had been focused on running away, never considering this perfect plan.

But it wasn't too late. If she succeeded, Benjamin's departure would need more planning.

Isolde had spoken casually, but seeing Diana's enthusiasm, she was taken aback, coughing in surprise,

"You're really going to do that? What if he hurts you?"

"He won't. I'll protect myself."

Diana shook her head. Despite Charles's constant psychological impact, she could ensure her physical safety.

"By the way, now that you're back, is Evelyn staying?"

Isolde abruptly changed the subject, making Evelyn nervous.

She had spent five years at the Porter Villa, caring for the children. Naturally, she had grown attached. But with Diana back, leaving her alone at the Percy Villa felt wrong.

Diana, however, firmly shook her head, "No need. She's settled in well at your place. Suddenly moving her would be inconvenient for you. Besides, I can't have her with me right now. Whenever you don't need Evelyn anymore, she's welcome with me."

Isolde playfully slapped her, scolding, "What do you mean I don't need her? Evelyn is wonderful, how could I not want her? You're just trying to stir things up."

"Isolde, Diana didn't mean it like that."

Evelyn, feeling conflicted about staying, weakly defended Diana.

"It's for your and Cecil's sake. I'm being sincere. I'm glad you two get along. By the way, Cecil is six now, right?"

Diana responded cheerfully, quickly smoothing things over with a few words.

Isolde, distracted from her anger, replied, "Yes, Cecil is almost seven, already in kindergarten. You wouldn't believe how mischievous he is."

"He's at that energetic age, it's normal to be a bit naughty. But you should communicate well with him. He's young, not dumb."

Having Benjamin made Diana more attentive to parenting, so she couldn't help but offer advice upon hearing about Cecil.

Seeing her talk so passionately, Isolde suddenly remembered the child she saw at the Bailey Group Building, also from the Percy family...

Her expression grew serious as she asked, "Diana, does Charles have a child?"
