Chapter 484 Cooperation

When Diana heard the question, she froze, unsure how to respond. Isolde kept talking.

"Yesterday, I saw a kid with Eugene who looked a lot like Charles, and also like you. The kid seemed to be about four or five years old. It made me think of your child, who would be around that age now if they were still here."

If Diana hadn't come back, Isolde wouldn't have dared to make such a bold guess.

She didn't know much about the inner workings of the Percy family, but she had heard that Charles had a brother, so maybe it was his kid. Or perhaps Charles had a fling and ended up with an illegitimate child.

These guesses seemed more reasonable, but Diana's return complicated things.

A woman's intuition kicked in, and Isolde wanted to know the truth.

Her question had a significant impact on the two people present.

Before Diana could answer, Evelyn exclaimed, "Ms. Spencer's child survived? They must be old enough to run around and go to school by now."

Evelyn accepted Isolde's guess in a heartbeat. After all, if Diana could come back from the dead, maybe the child was a miracle too.

Diana felt like a heavy stone was pressing on her chest. Her lips moved, but she didn't know where to start.

Seeing her struggle, Isolde waved her hand, "If you don't want to answer, you don't have to. Let's just eat."

Both Isolde and Evelyn were people Diana trusted. Since they had asked, she felt she had nothing to hide.

So she interrupted Isolde and said, "Yes, I have a child."

The atmosphere became tense.

When the guess was confirmed, both Isolde and Evelyn were shocked.

Diana gave a self-deprecating smile and continued, "It's ironic. I used to hate kids, but I still had him. We had a happy time abroad, but he insisted on coming back."

Isolde didn't quite understand how such a young child could act independently, but she comforted her,

"You gave birth to him, so he's your family. You did nothing wrong. This is probably the main reason you came back, right? Charles has him."

Diana lowered her eyes and shook her head, "Not entirely. He doesn't know the child is still alive."

The situation was too complicated to explain in a few words. It would take all day to clarify everything.

Finally, the series of events connected to reveal the truth.

Isolde and Evelyn felt a mix of emotions. They exchanged glances, and Evelyn was the first to comfort Diana,

"It's okay, Ms. Spencer. God will protect him. He won't be taken away."

"Yes, and since he hasn't reunited with Charles yet, we still have a chance. I have connections abroad. I can help you find his real brother's child."

Their support meant a lot to Diana, even if it didn't change much. Sharing her burden made her feel better.

She didn't refuse their kindness and smiled gratefully, "Thank you."

"Don't mention it. Your child is like my own. Remember how you helped me get Cecil back? Next time I meet him, I'll make sure he calls me Aunt Isolde."

"Okay."

At the White Mansion.

Stella had locked herself in her room, refusing to eat or drink all day.

A servant knocked gently on the door, speaking softly, "Ms. White, please eat something. You don't want to harm your health."

There was no response from inside.

This was the third time the servant had tried to get Stella to eat. She had come home upset about something and was refusing food and drink.

With Oliver and Calista away, the situation was dire.

Footsteps approached, followed by a question, "How is she? Still not eating?"

It was the housekeeper. She frowned at the untouched tray of food, already knowing the answer.

She waved the servant away, "You can go. I'll handle it."

The servant sighed in relief and quickly left.

Once alone, the housekeeper knocked on the door.

Unlike the servant, she didn't urge Stella to eat. Instead, she said, "Ms. White, your friend is here."

Stella, a celebrity, had few true friends outside of work. Especially after breaking off her engagement with Charles, the wealthy socialites who once surrounded her now openly mocked her.

Hearing the housekeeper's words, Stella, lying on the bed, stirred slightly.

"Ms. White, your friend is waiting downstairs. She said seeing her will make all your troubles disappear."

The housekeeper continued.

Stella frowned, unable to think of any friend who fit the description.

The housekeeper knocked again but received no response. She sighed and raised her voice, "Alright, Ms. White, I'll tell her to leave..."

Before she could finish, the door opened.

Stella looked disheveled, her eyes red and her hair messy, clearly in a bad mood.

"Did she say her name?"

The housekeeper was taken aback but shook her head, "No, she just said you know her and would want to see her."

"Playing games," Stella muttered irritably, but curiosity got the better of her.

"Tell her to wait. I'll be down soon."

Relieved, the housekeeper nodded, "Of course, I'll let her know."

About twenty minutes later, Stella had freshened up and slowly made her way downstairs.

A woman was sitting on the couch, casually flipping through a magazine. Her nails were painted a striking red.

Stella couldn't see her face clearly but continued to approach silently.

The woman finally heard the footsteps and turned to greet her, "Hello, Ms. White. How have you been?"

"It's you?" Stella frowned. It was Claire.

Stella and Claire only interacted at the company. Whenever Stella visited Charles, Claire was always cold to her.

If anyone was happy about Stella and Charles breaking off their engagement, it was Claire.

Her visit now could only mean trouble.

Stella lifted her chin, her expression disdainful, "Who let you into my house? You're not welcome here. Leave, or I'll have security throw you out."

Sensing the tension, the housekeeper quickly apologized, "Ms. White, I thought she was your friend. I'm sorry for the mistake. I'll have her leave."

"Wait!"

As the situation escalated, Claire smiled confidently and tossed the magazine onto the coffee table.

She stood and faced Stella.

"Ms. White, I'm not here to cause trouble. A lot has happened recently, but it wasn't my doing. Like you, I now despise the same person. I think we can work together."
