Chapter 183 Do You Have Someone You Like?

Nolan was thrown into a whirlwind of confusion by such a bizarre message. 'What restraint? Why wait until after the baby is born? Does this have anything to do with Diana?'

Nolan was stumped and couldn't make sense of it, so he decided to ask.

Nolan: [What's going on?]

Brenda saw the message and laughed in frustration.

As Charles's right-hand man, Nolan was practically his shadow.

She couldn't believe he was completely clueless about what Charles was up to.

Based on her experience with men, Brenda figured Nolan was playing dumb to cover for Charles. She was a doctor, after all! Nothing got past her sharp eyes.

So Brenda replied coldly: [You know very well what Mr. Percy has done.]

Nolan: [?]

Seeing him still acting clueless, Brenda tossed her phone aside and stopped replying, leaving Nolan in the dark.

As a special assistant, Nolan was usually great at reading people. But now, he was genuinely puzzled about what Charles had done that could affect the kid.

Even though he couldn't figure it out, Nolan decided to give Charles a heads-up. Since it was something Charles did, he should know.

So he knocked on the door and walked in, immediately hit by the strong smell of smoke. He saw Charles sitting behind his desk, his face hidden in the shadows, making it hard to read his expression.

Nolan called out uncertainly, "Mr. Percy?"

"What." Charles's voice was low and raspy, probably from chain-smoking.

Nolan was taken aback and immediately thought of Brenda's words.

Could it be the smoking? Smoking was definitely bad for pregnant women.

Thinking of this, Nolan took a deep breath and said, "Mr. Percy, smoking too much is bad for your health."

Normally, he wouldn't dare give such advice. He thought, 'Telling Charles what to do? That's nuts.'

But now, for the sake of Charles's kid, Nolan decided to go for it. He lowered his head, bracing for Charles's reaction.

Charles snapped out of his daze upon hearing Nolan speak. He had been smoking again, and Diana would definitely be upset.

Thinking of this, he instinctively stubbed out the half-smoked cigarette in the ashtray.

After doing that, Charles frowned angrily and knocked the ashtray to the floor.

Why did he always think of her?

Nolan was startled by his reaction and quickly bowed, "Sorry, Mr. Percy, I misspoke."

Charles looked up, his eyes dark and unreadable. After a moment of silence, he slowly said, "It's not your fault."

Nolan breathed a sigh of relief and then said softly, "I'll go now."

But before he could move, Charles's voice stopped him. "Wait."

Nolan paused, looking up with questioning eyes, waiting for Charles to continue.

Charles asked casually, "Do you have someone you like?"

Normally, this question wouldn't be weird, but coming from someone as aloof and uninterested in women as Charles, it was very strange.

Nolan thought of Brenda's words again, reminding Charles to show restraint.

Could it be that Charles had been single for so long that regular relationships no longer did it for him, and he needed something more thrilling?

Nolan shivered and stammered, "Mr. Percy, I like women."

Charles was clearly not satisfied with his answer, "I know you like women, so..."

Before Charles could finish, Nolan blurted out, "Mr. Percy, I'm straight."

Charles was silent for a moment, regretting that he hadn't thrown the ashtray at Nolan's head earlier.

"Nolan, I think you're a bit crazy..."

Nolan looked up, meeting Charles's look of disdain. He realized he might have overthought it. Charles didn't seem interested in men.

So he cautiously said, "I don't have anyone I like, but I did back in school..."

Hearing this, Charles waved his hand dismissively. How could he expect his long-single assistant Nolan to solve emotional problems? The only one who could solve problems now, Eugene, had been sent to the countryside to farm.

"Book two tickets to Celestria for tomorrow, and come with me on a business trip."

Nolan looked up, his tone hesitant, "Just the two of us?"

Charles closed his eyes, suddenly overwhelmed by the urge to snap Nolan out of his overthinking. But he didn't have the energy to be angry now, so he said again, "Book three, bring Claire along."

One Abigail was enough for the company.

Nolan heard this and finally breathed a sigh of relief, then left.

But why did Charles suddenly ask this question? Was it possible that he had feelings for someone?

Nolan's brain worked quickly, but Diana's beautiful face appeared in his mind. She was now pregnant and living with Charles.

Nolan shook his head vigorously, trying to dispel his thoughts.

Charles hated Diana so much, how could his prejudice turn into affection so quickly? Besides her, there was no one else often around Charles.

There was Claire! Charles had just said to bring her on the business trip.

Thinking of the trip, Nolan realized he needed to book tickets.

Working overtime late at night was bad enough, now he had to go on a sudden business trip. Nolan felt a deep sadness, no longer interested in guessing Charles's emotional state.

Compared to his low spirits, Claire was overjoyed when she heard she was going on a business trip with Charles. She finally didn't have to be a decoration at the Percy Group, staring at the office door every day.

Nolan: [Going on a business trip with Mr. Percy tomorrow.]

Claire looked at the words in the chat box, feeling a sweet shyness.

This kind of thing, once it happened once, there would be a second time.

She had already found out what kind of person Diana was. As long as she wasn't as stupid as Diana, even if Charles didn't immediately fall in love with her, he wouldn't hate her.

Claire threw her phone aside, no longer sleepy, and got up to pack her luggage.

At the Percy Mansion, Diana finished her meal, washed up briefly, and lay back on the bed. She had messaged Robert shortly after getting home. They were talking about Nathan.

Diana was just short of the 15% shares Nathan held to regain control of the Spencer Group.

Robert: [He's currently detained, our witness was very useful. He won't be able to leave the detention center for a while, so we can't get the 15% shares.]

Diana pursed her lips and replied: [Then exchange his freedom for the 15% shares.]

Robert was stunned. If Diana wanted, it wouldn't be a big problem to bail someone out from the police station. But she hated Nathan so much, was she really going to let him go just for the 15% shares?

Before Robert could think further, Diana's message popped up again.

Diana: [Once he hands over the shares, sue him for embezzlement.]

What a bridge-burning move, Robert laughed. He knew Diana wouldn't let him off so easily.

Robert: [Okay, I'll talk to him.]

It was better for him to handle this. But the next second, Diana replied: [I'll go myself. I haven't seen my dear father in a while, I kind of miss him.]
