Chapter 94 Interview Results

Coralie nodded awkwardly; she knew she had messed up at work. Diana flipped through the documents and picked out another one. It was from one of the male interviewees. She glanced at the photo and then at the guy himself, saying, "Sorry, but neither of you meet our company's hiring standards. We'll cover your travel expenses for the interview. You can leave now."

The guy looked shocked and confused. "Ms. Spencer, I haven't even introduced myself yet. Why are you asking me to leave? I didn't do anything wrong."

Diana gave a polite smile and explained, "Here's the thing. Even though we don't have strict dress codes for daily work, an interview is a formal occasion. You didn't even bother to wear a suit, and your socks don't match. It's hard for me to believe that someone who is careless in life can be meticulous at work."

Everyone's eyes shifted to the guy's mismatched red and green socks. Lily couldn't hold back and burst out laughing. The guy was speechless. He was wearing a sweatshirt with a cartoon print and pajama pants. But he couldn't help but retort, "Didn't you say you value abilities? Why are you judging by appearance now?"

Diana took a deep breath, trying to stay polite, and replied, "It's precisely because I reviewed your resume and combined it with your appearance that I had to decline you politely."

'Do I have to say you're both sloppy and incompetent?' Diana kept this thought to herself.

The guy had nothing more to say, stood up awkwardly, and left the conference room. The woman didn't stay long either; she stomped her foot and walked out, flipping her hair.

Coralie went to close the door, and the interview officially began. The three candidates had impressive work experience and education. Now it was time to see who was more qualified for this job.

All this was to avoid mismatches after hiring, which would waste time. Diana asked the three to introduce themselves one by one. Besides Lily, the quiet girl was named Ophelia Blake, and the remaining guy was Chris Diaz.

Ophelia's personality matched her appearance; she was a rather introverted girl. Chris, on the other hand, gave off a seasoned vibe as soon as he spoke. He was very formal and perfect, like he was taking an exam.

Diana nodded, satisfied with the conversation. Coincidentally, the three were interviewing for different positions, so Diana decided to hire them all. Whether they could become permanent employees would depend on their future performance. The interview ended, and the candidates left the conference room beaming with pleasure.

Diana, feeling a bit parched after talking, took a sip of water and said to Coralie, "When the company expands its business, we need to hire more people and you should be stricter. Follow the requirements I just mentioned. For now, we don't need to hire anyone. If these three are willing to join, have the senior employees guide them to get familiar with the business."

Coralie nodded, having taken notes on Diana's key points during the interview.

Outside the conference room, a commotion suddenly erupted. Coralie and Diana went out one after the other and found everyone gathered around Axel's computer. Some couldn't get close, so they opened their phones, clicking on something.

"Ms. Williams' makeup and styling are perfect. This must be a professional team. Look at the lighting; it's much better than before." Nia pointed at the computer, excited, not noticing Diana's arrival.

Diana asked, "What's better than before?"

Everyone realized Diana was there and fell silent, scattering the next second.

Nia quickly returned to her seat, not daring to speak. Axel, flustered, tried to close the computer but accidentally hit the volume button. Clara's sweet voice filled the room, "Thank you all for your support. We will definitely take your suggestions and work hard to improve our products."

Diana looked closely and saw that Clara was also live streaming, just like she had done before. Nia was right; Clara's live streaming was much more professional than Diana's previous one. Clara wore trendy makeup and a particularly exquisite dress. The professional lighting and set design made her look stunning.

But Diana frowned, not out of jealousy, but suspicion. Diana suspected Clara didn't understand the basic logic of live streaming for promotion and had just jumped into it.

Clara looked beautiful, but it wouldn't help boost the company's product sales; it would only attract men who liked to watch pretty girls. As if to confirm Diana's suspicion, the screen flashed with fancy gift effects.

Clara was momentarily stunned, then covered her mouth in surprise, thanking the gift-giver. The person, pleased by Clara's reaction, sent even more gifts. But from beginning to end, Clara never mentioned the company's products.

Diana rolled her eyes, not wanting to watch Clara's pretentious act any longer, and returned to her office. Axel breathed a sigh of relief as she left. He had been so scared that he broke out in a cold sweat, thinking he was done for.

No one dared to speak, communicating only through their phones in a group chat.

Nia: [Are you okay, Axel? I thought you were dying.]

Axel: [I am still alive, but I was scared to death.]

Dax: [Was Ms. Spencer upset just now? I saw her frown.]

Calliope: [Of course, Ms. Williams totally copied her. It was Ms. Spencer's idea first!]

Dwayne: [The internet isn't owned by you, and neither is the live streaming software. Ms. Williams' streaming is clearly more professional than Ms. Spencer's.]

Seeing the argument brewing, Coralie quickly sent a message to stop it.

Coralie: [Let's just chat for fun. No need to hurt the harmony among colleagues.]

She then used her admin privileges to delete Dwayne's message. Dwayne wanted to say more, but others quickly changed the topic, not discussing it further.

Calliope, seeing Dwayne's setback, almost laughed out loud and secretly gave Coralie a thumbs-up. Their team was already small, and now with two people gone, only three were left.

Calliope didn't know how the company rumors started, but she had seen Diana's dedication to her work. No matter what, she believed Diana could lead the team to success.

Diana wasn't idle in her office either; she reviewed all the accumulated contracts. She consulted Robert on a few contract-related issues and then finally had time to rest.

She suddenly felt she needed an assistant like Nolan. Otherwise, she'd be exhausted from reviewing documents every day. Just as Diana was daydreaming about hiring a handsome assistant, her phone vibrated in her pocket, almost making her drop it.

It was a call from Isolde. But it seemed something was wrong. Isolde, usually cheerful, spoke with a sobbing tone, "Diana, what should I do? Cecil has been kidnapped!"
