Chapter 133 Elise Sinclair
Brenda nodded, pointed to the TV behind her, and said, "We're putting it here, but there are no cameras in the restroom. Don't worry, Ms. Spencer."
"If he puts cameras in the restroom, he's a total creep," Diana said, shoving food into her mouth. With Charles not around, she could badmouth him all she wanted. "Go ahead, install it. I don't care."
"Alright, Ms. Spencer, I'll be on my way. If you need anything, just ring the bell." Brenda found Diana's words amusing but kept her laughter in check, pointing to the door.
Diana stayed focused on her food, barely acknowledging Brenda with a nod.
Percy Manor, perched halfway up the eastern hills of Evergreen City, was a sprawling estate with grand architecture.
At night, the whole place lit up like a beacon, so much so that tourists often mistook it for a landmark and snapped photos from across the river.
To protect her privacy, Elise Sinclair eventually had to send people to patrol the area and ban photography.
Right now, in the master bedroom of Percy Manor, Elise, draped in a silk robe, was curled up in a rocking chair by the floor-to-ceiling window. Her face was stunning and well-preserved.
Even at nearly 50, she looked like she was in her early thirties.
Elise lazily picked up a grape and popped it into her mouth. A knock came at the door behind her.
"Come in."
"Mrs. Percy, your phone." The butler handed her the phone with a respectful bow.
Elise took the phone and saw it was someone from the Percy Group's board of directors.
"Hello? What's up?"
A man's voice came through, low and serious. "The shareholders' meeting went on as planned today, and Charles didn't cancel it."
Elise sat up, her eyebrows arching in surprise. "He actually showed up? What did you say to him?"
"Of course, we want Mr. Percy back, but that jerk Charles just won't budge."
"You guys, always leaning on the Percy Family, are useless! Poor Zachary, he hasn't been home in years!" Elise's face tightened with frustration.
Over the years, if she wanted to see her son, she had to travel abroad to visit him.
"Mrs. Percy, please don't be upset. Charles has turned us down many times before. But I have some good news. Want to hear it?"
"Spill it!" Elise gripped the phone, urging him on.
"Charles has a kid."
"What?" Elise was so stunned she sat up straight.
Charles had never had a woman in his life. Many business partners had tried to set him up, but he always turned them down.
Juniper had even arranged a marriage for him, but everyone knew it was a disaster.
Elise thought, 'Who could Charles have a kid with? How did I not hear about this?'
"Mrs. Percy, let me explain. The kid's mom is named Diana, and she's at the Percy Group's private hospital. We got the info from someone we planted there."
"Diana?" Elise murmured, then quickly realized Diana was Charles' ex-wife.
"How could it be her? Did they get back together?"
The man paused before continuing, "We don't know. We just know she's pregnant and getting prenatal care at the Percy Group's hospital."
"How is this good news? Are you telling me that we haven't even dealt with Charles, and now there's a kid too?" Elise's voice was sharp, like nails on a chalkboard, making it hard to listen to.
Before the man could respond, she had a sudden realization. "Wait!"
Despite their past marital issues, Diana being pregnant and at the Percy Group's hospital for prenatal care meant Charles valued this child a lot.
If that was the case, why not use the situation to their advantage before the child was born? Either by doing something to the child or using it to threaten Charles?
It was Elise's oversight that allowed Charles to be born, becoming an obstacle in Zachary's path to inheriting the family business.
This time, Elise wouldn't let Charles' child be born.
Elise chuckled softly, a hint of malice flashing in her eyes. "I get it now. It is good news. Keep an eye on that woman. The plan for Charles stays the same. We need to bring Zachary back."
The man knew Elise was sharp and would quickly catch on to his meaning.
So he didn't say much more, just reminded her, "Mrs. Percy, be careful. Whatever you do, don't let Charles catch on. Mr. Percy will definitely come back."
Elise returned to her elegant and lazy demeanor. "Got it. You all keep doing your work."
With that, she hung up and pressed the bell beside her.
In no time, the butler hurried over. "Do you have any instructions, Mrs. Percy?"
"My cousin's daughter is in Evergreen City, right?"
The butler thought for a moment and nodded, "You mean Ms. Murphy? Yes, I believe so."
Claire Murphy's mother was Elise's cousin.
The two families had a good relationship in the early years, especially after Claire's father became a professor, their bond grew closer.
But Claire had a crush on Charles, which made Elise very unhappy. Fortunately, Claire's family lived in the South, so they didn't have many chances to meet.
Elise knew about Claire coming to Evergreen City because Claire's mother had mentioned it, hoping Elise could look after Claire.
Elise had agreed verbally but hadn't done anything about it.
Now, she could use this opportunity to have Claire find out some information.
"Call Claire and invite her to Percy Manor. It's been a while since we've seen each other, and I miss her." Elise glanced casually at the diamonds embedded in her nails, then sat back in the rocking chair and continued eating grapes.
"Yes, Mrs. Percy."
At the Percy Group hospital, outside the VIP ward, Evelyn was pushed into the ward by two men.
Evelyn, trembling with fear, cowered at the door, desperately banging on it to get out, but it wouldn't open.
Her actions woke Diana, who rubbed her sleepy eyes, her voice still tired. "Who is it?"
Hearing the familiar voice, Evelyn immediately stopped, her eyes filling with tears almost instantly.
Evelyn, in disbelief, called out with a sob, "Ms. Spencer!"
