Chapter 68 Live Broadcast

Right now, Charles's anger seemed pretty real. Clara hesitated for a sec, then quickly shifted the blame. "Sorry, Mr. Percy, it's my bad. I thought I could trust my team, so I went with their plan. Didn't expect you'd find such a big flaw. Totally my fault."

Charles just pressed his lips together, looking pissed, but didn't say anything.

Clara added, "Mr. Percy, I'm worried Diana might be in the same boat as me. I'm not too confident in her either. How about we go check it out together, just to minimize any potential losses?" She looked all concerned and tried to steer the conversation towards Diana.

To anyone who didn't know better, it might seem like they were super close. Clara couldn't even handle her own stuff and was already stressing about Diana.

Charles was swayed by her words, remembering Diana's confident vibe earlier. He thought about checking out her product launch.

If it was as bad as Clara's, then the Spencer Group was in deep trouble, and it might be better to shut down sooner rather than later. But then his phone buzzed; it was a message from Nolan with a live stream link.

Nolan: [Mr. Percy, Ms. Spencer's product launch is killing it. They've already sold 100,000 units.]

Charles clicked the link, and there was Diana on the screen. She had makeup on, looking different from her usual cool self. In the video, she seemed more playful and cute, way more approachable, and her voice was sweeter than usual. "Thank you all for your support. We'll pick a lucky viewer to get a snack gift pack from us."

It was a pretty standard line, but when Diana said it, it made people want to join in. The comments were full of compliments on her looks and purchase records.

The audience was all in for buying stuff from Diana. Not only were others shocked, but even Diana's team was surprised. Still, they kept their cool and worked perfectly together. In no time, the live stream audience shot up to 100,000, and the stock was flying off the shelves.

Originally, half of Clara's team had gone to help with the promo event, while the rest stayed at the company. These folks weren't slacking off either. As soon as they saw Diana's team was live streaming, they quickly tuned in.

At first, there were only a few hundred people watching, but it stayed at the top of the recommendation list. More and more people got curious and joined the stream, some sticking around just for Diana's looks.

After answering some questions, Diana connected with a pre-arranged internet celeb, bringing even more traffic to the stream. More and more people got curious about the Spencer Group, and as Diana started unboxing and tasting the products, sales in the live stream went through the roof. The products were selling so fast they had trouble keeping up with restocking.

Clara's team was floored by how a simple strategy boosted not only the Spencer Group's reputation but also its sales. Axel stared at the live stream data, desperately looking for a loophole.

Axel thought, 'How could there be so many viewers? Could it be fake traffic? But traffic can be faked, can the sales records be fake too?' Of course not. If Diana spent her own money to buy 100,000 orders, what would be the point other than saving face?

Suddenly, a phone rang; it was Clara calling. Axel took a deep breath and answered, trying to sound calm, "Hello, Ms. Williams."

On the other end, Clara's voice was low but still sounded super angry. "What the hell is going on? How are they promoting by live streaming sales?"

"We're not sure either, Ms. Williams. Their team is very tight-lipped. And for some reason, their first live stream had such high traffic," Axel replied honestly. The live stream itself wasn't the issue; it was the unusually high flow behind it.

Clara caught the key point and pressed on, "Are you saying they might be cheating?"

Axel didn't directly accuse them of cheating, but he implied it. "From what I've observed," he said, "their live streams, regardless of actual popularity, always top the charts with exceptionally high traffic, which in turn attracts even more viewers."

Clara didn't respond and just hung up. She knew it; there had to be something fishy behind Diana's sudden success! Hearing Axel's words, Clara felt a bit relieved. If Diana was cheating, it all made sense.

She hurried back to Charles, looking worried. "Mr. Percy, I asked around, and they said there might be a problem with the platform on Diana's side. It's been pushing her stream, and there might be some conspiracy behind it."

Charles was holding his phone, still watching Diana's live stream. Hearing Clara's words, he guessed that Diana might have bought fake followers. This kind of opportunistic approach wasn't a good solution.

But then, a fancy special effect suddenly took over the entire screen. Even Diana was stunned as the scrolling message prompt appeared.

Diana thanked, "Thank you to the viewer named 'Mr. Richardson' for the gift."

But just as she finished thanking, this "Mr. Richardson" sent another gift. Diana blinked and continued to express her gratitude. Everyone was drawn to this mysterious "Mr. Richardson." They were all curious about who this person was.

But Diana had a strong feeling that this person was Billy. So she politely smiled and said to the screen, "Thank you, Mr. Richardson, for the gift. Please message me later to receive a beautiful gift pack prepared by the Spencer Group."

However, Billy didn't stop, continuously sending gifts, dazzling everyone. But at this moment, Diana started waving goodbye to the screen, ending the live stream without any hesitation.

Calliope, beside her, felt it was a pity. "Diana, why didn't you stream a bit longer? I was really enjoying it. This Mr. Richardson is really generous, spending so much in one stream…"

Calliope paused, calculating how much Billy had spent. She found it was over $800,000, and everyone was shocked.

"Oh my god, is this the world of the rich?"

Diana calmly drank a glass of water, unfazed by it. "In future sales live streams, turn off the gift feature. It distracts from other consumers' purchases."

Everyone suddenly realized and checked the data, finding it to be true. They genuinely admired Diana, who remained calm and composed.

Selling products was not entertainment; it should consider other customers. Relying on one person's gifts was not enough, especially since this was the Spencer Group's corporate account.

"Diana! What the hell are you doing? Work is not for cheating!" Suddenly, there was a commotion outside, and Clara's scolding voice came through. "Where are you? Diana, come out here!"
