Chapter 163 Charles is Back

Evelyn, feeling the tension, hesitated despite Diana's words. "Ms. Spencer, I..."

Diana raised an eyebrow and placed a piece of chicken leg in Evelyn's bowl. "You're not listening to me? I pay your salary, what does it have to do with the Percy family?" Her voice was loud enough for everyone in the dining room to hear.

Evelyn then remembered that she was hired by Diana. When she went out with Bronte and Tessa, they kept telling her how hard it was to be a servant at The Percy Mansion and how many rules there were. They made Evelyn so anxious that she ended up wearing the uniform and blending in with the crowd.

Now that Diana had spoken, she felt more confident and smiled, "I'll definitely listen to you, Ms. Spencer!"

Diana nodded in satisfaction. That was more like it. The two sat at the dining table, just like before at The Spencer Villa. But even after they finished, the faces of the nearby servants were still sour.

After Diana and Evelyn went upstairs, Bronte approached Jacob, complaining, "Jacob, won't this cause chaos? If everyone just gets close to Ms. Spencer, won't they all ignore the Percy family's arrangements?"

"Exactly," Tessa chimed in.

"Enough! You were all hired by the Percy family. She's different from you," Jacob, annoyed by the noise, raised his voice.

"What's different?" Suddenly, a deep, cold voice came from behind, startling the three of them. Turning around, they saw Charles standing at the door with Nolan.

"Mr. Percy, why are you back?" Jacob, snapping out of it, was a bit surprised. Charles, being a workaholic, rarely came home. What was going on today?

Charles glanced coldly at them without speaking. Nolan stepped forward and said, "Jacob, please get some people to move things outside."

Jacob nodded and led a few strong male servants out the door. But when he saw what was outside, Jacob was shocked.

Dozens of boxes were piled at the door, with a pink baby bottle logo on them. He stepped forward and peeked through the gaps in the boxes, discovering they were all baby supplies. Charles actually bought these things?

Unlike Jacob's shock, Nolan had gotten used to Charles's drastic change in behavior today. Now, even if Charles sang a lullaby in front of him, he wouldn't be surprised. No one knew that he hadn't even had lunch and was called by Charles to buy these baby supplies.

Strollers, cribs, all sorts of things were piled together. It seemed Charles was on his way to becoming a super dad.

As he was thinking, Charles walked past Nolan and turned to go upstairs. Seeing Nolan still standing there, Charles paused and said, "Go supervise them moving the things."

With that, he left, not giving Nolan a chance to respond. Nolan's expression froze. After working all afternoon, now he had to be a supervisor? What trouble had he gotten himself into?

Upstairs, Diana and Evelyn were in the room, sorting the baby supplies they had bought with Isolde.

They had bought a ton of stuff, but it was all small items.

Evelyn picked up a baby onesie and said cheerfully, "Ms. Spencer, check this out."

Diana looked over. The onesie was designed to look like a bear, with two brown ears on the hood and a honey pot pattern on the chest.

"So cute. It can be worn by either a boy or a girl," Evelyn said as she put the onesie away.

Diana stared at the onesie, unconsciously imagining the little one in her belly wearing it. As the onesie was covered, Diana's eyes flickered, and she collected her thoughts.

She said to Evelyn, "Since you like it, you can decide on the decoration of the nursery."

"Ms. Spencer, you're the baby's mother! Of course, you should do it. Imagine how happy your child will be when they grow up and learn that you personally designed their room," Evelyn firmly persuaded.

Diana tugged at the corner of her mouth, wanting to say that the child might not stay there. But seeing the expectation in Evelyn's eyes, she took a deep breath and compromised. "Okay."

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Evelyn muttered as she stood up to open the door, "It should be Jacob. Has the nursery been cleared out?"

But when she opened the door, she was startled to see Charles standing there. She stiffened and said, "Mr. Percy."

Diana, who had been fiddling with a set of children's toys, looked up in confusion when she heard Evelyn.

They were sitting directly on the carpet, facing the door. Diana was only wearing a set of pajamas, and her long hair was casually tied up. From Charles' angle, she looked very relaxed and at home.

The two of them exchanged a glance, and Diana immediately stood up, pulling the stiff Evelyn behind her, and said in an unfriendly tone, "Mr. Percy, what do you want?"

Charles snapped out of it and frowned slightly, "I didn't do anything. Why are you acting like this?"

Diana looked up without speaking, but her expression revealed her thoughts, 'Why do I act this way? Don't you know?'

Charles paused, not getting angry with her, but his tone remained cold and unyielding, "Jacob has already cleared out the nursery. Go decorate the room."

With that, he turned and left. Diana and Evelyn exchanged a glance, both speaking at the same time, "What's with him?"

Evelyn shook her head first, hesitantly saying, "Ms. Spencer, do we have to decorate now? I'm a bit scared."

"Weren't you looking forward to it just now?" Diana found it amusing and couldn't help but poke her face, "Why are you scared now?"

Evelyn sighed, "Mr. Percy is back. I just want to decorate with you."

But since Charles had spoken, they had to decorate the nursery today, whether they wanted to or not.

Diana held Evelyn's hand and comforted her, "It's okay, we're together. Charles is a person, not a monster, nothing to be afraid of."

Evelyn smiled bitterly. If he were a monster, at least they could use a charm to ward him off.

But for Diana's sake, she quickly collected herself and said firmly, "Ms. Spencer, I'm with you!"

Diana smiled, feeling much better. "Let's go to the nursery."

Although they didn't know the exact location of the nursery, the noise from moving things was too loud. From a distance, Diana saw Nolan standing at the door, supervising with a blank expression.

From their angle, they could see Charles at the door. Whatever he said to Nolan, not only did the moving team speed up, but Nolan also joined in.
