Chapter 240 Love Polygon
"Who are you?"
Charles's face twisted in shock as he finally saw Chloe's face, freezing in place.
Billy took the chance to shove him away and helped Chloe up. "Are you okay?"
"No, it hurts like hell! My knee's all scraped up; it's definitely gonna scar."
Seeing him care about her, Chloe's tears flowed even more freely as she leaned into Billy, her tears soaking his shirt.
Billy's usual good temper vanished. He had heard Charles call out for Diana.
Clearly, Chloe had been mistaken for Diana and suffered because of it.
If it had been Diana who was thrown to the ground like that, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
"Charles, what the hell are you doing? This is my house, not a place for you to go crazy!" His tone was aggressive, much more imposing than Vance's.
Charles snapped back to reality, glaring coldly at the two of them.
Although he didn't understand why Chloe was with Billy, he knew Nolan's information was never wrong.
Diana was in Homestead Sunset Valley. If Billy hadn't brought her in, then who had?
"Where's Diana? Where are you hiding her?"
Billy frowned, giving him a look that clearly said he thought Charles had lost his mind. "That's a question you should be asking yourself. Charles, we can discuss these personal matters later. But right now, you owe this innocent girl an apology!"
Charles let out a cold laugh, his eyes shifting to Chloe. He didn't recognize her and didn't care about her relationship with Billy.
"An apology? From me?"
The double question hit hard. Chloe had been furious, but upon realizing it was Charles, she didn't dare say another word.
Vincent had warned her never to provoke anyone from the Percy family.
Now, with Billy standing up for her, she was touched but didn't want him to get hurt.
Thinking of this, Chloe quickly covered Billy's mouth and said, "No need; it's all a misunderstanding. Mr. Percy, I'm fine, just a little scrape. Let's not argue."
Her voice grew softer, not daring to meet Charles's gaze.
Billy wanted to remove her hand, but noticing the plea in her eyes, he softened. Not everyone could stand up to Charles like he could.
Chloe's attitude seemed to please Charles, and he suddenly asked, "Who's your father?"
Chloe was startled, her voice trembling, "It's all a misunderstanding, Mr. Percy. This has nothing to do with my dad. If you're upset, I'm willing to compensate you."
She was the one injured, yet now she was the one apologizing.
"Sorry, I mistook you for someone else. I will compensate you double for today's trouble."
Charles didn't want to explain further, handing over a black, gold-edged business card with Nolan's number on it.
Even as an assistant to the Percy Group, many companies would love to connect with him.
In a way, Chloe was a blessing in disguise.
Blushing, she took the card, suddenly feeling her leg didn't hurt anymore, and she wasn't cold.
But to Billy, this was blatant humiliation.
There was no sincere apology, just using power to oppress.
However, he could see Chloe wasn't angry and valued the opportunity to work with the Percy Group, so he didn't say more.
He just supported Chloe, saying softly, "I'll take you to get bandaged."
As he was about to leave, Charles spoke up, "She can go, but you stay."
Billy stopped in his tracks, his voice cold, "You have no right to order me."
Chloe was frightened by his tone but didn't dare say more. She stood silently by the side.
"I'll ask one more time, where's Diana? Otherwise, Vance's birthday party won't go well." Charles suppressed his anger, asking again.
Vance had lived his life for his dignity.
So many people had come to this birthday party. If Charles ruined it, the Richardson family's reputation would be in tatters.
Billy didn't care about losing his dignity, but Vance did.
As his son, he couldn't be that selfish.
Taking a deep breath, Billy tried to stay calm and said, "I don't know. My father sent the invitations. I didn't even know you'd be here. He doesn't like Diana, so how could he invite her?"
Charles didn't have time to judge the truth of his words before Nolan arrived.
He came at just the right moment, catching Charles in his fury and getting kicked.
Nolan endured the pain, quickly bending to apologize, "I'm sorry, Mr. Percy. It's my fault. I should have checked on Ms. Spencer a day earlier."
"You said she was in Homestead Sunset Valley? Then where is she?" Charles's tone was harsh. He rarely showed such emotion.
But when it came to Diana, all his reason and composure vanished.
Nolan was stunned as he looked at Billy, realizing that the person beside him was not Diana.
He quickly realized why he had been kicked. It must have been a mistake in the information.
But the bodyguard couldn't have lied.
Who had Diana come to Homestead Sunset Valley with?
The answer to the mystery soon revealed itself.
Behind them, Sabrina was holding Diana's hand, her voice full of guilt.
"Diana, it's all my fault. That store was terrible, giving you bad shoes so you couldn't attend the party. Now Noah doesn't have a date."
Diana smiled slightly, "I'm fine. Besides, you should be with Noah."
"But Noah..." Sabrina wanted to say more but was cut off by Noah.
"Enough, Sabrina. Let's get Diana back inside. It's too cold out here."
As the three of them reached the door, they saw the scene before them.
The atmosphere instantly became awkwardly cold.
Diana was taller than Sabrina, so Sabrina couldn't support her alone. Noah and Sabrina were on either side of her, looking very close.
Sabrina was the first to react, her expression puzzled, "Charles, what are you doing? Mr. Smith, did you make him angry?"
Seeing Charles, Noah straightened up slightly and said, "Mr. Percy, what a coincidence to meet you here."
For a moment, no one responded to their words.
The cawing of crows in Homestead Sunset Valley was particularly jarring.
Diana felt so embarrassed she wanted to disappear. She hadn't figured out what was going on.
Why Charles and Billy were here?
Could the Glenn family's business partners be so powerful that they invited so many people for a birthday?
Sensing the anger in Charles's eyes, Diana didn't dare speak. Fear crawled up her spine, and she instinctively grabbed Noah's shirt.
Sabrina and Noah, being siblings, assumed the situation was normal: the others were discussing business and ignoring them.
So Noah spoke up, "Mr. Percy, we'll be going now."
With that, he started to lead Diana away.
At that moment, Sabrina let go of Diana, leaving her to Noah, and approached Charles, pointing at the two of them and whispering, "Charles, that's my sister-in-law. Isn't she beautiful?"
She giggled, her eyes full of mischief. Though she spoke softly, both Charles and Nolan heard her clearly.
Nolan felt like the world was ending. He never could have imagined Diana would be mixed up with the Glenn family!
And what was this about a sister-in-law?
Without even looking, he knew Charles was about to explode.
The next second, Charles shouted at the two of them, "Stop!"
