Chapter 121 Consideration
Diana lay curled up on the bed, her hair a mess, face pale, clutching her belly in obvious pain.
"Ms. Spencer, what's going on? Is your stomach hurting?" Jacob rushed over, looking lost.
Brenda jumped into action and started treating Diana. In just over ten minutes, the pain began to ease.
Brenda asked, "Ms. Spencer, feeling any better?"
Seeing some color return to Diana's face, Jacob let out a sigh of relief and turned to Brenda, "What can she eat now? I'll have the servant whip something up."
Brenda was about to answer when Diana cut in, "I don't want to eat. Instead of fussing over that, why don't you find out when Mr. Percy will be back? Don't waste my time."
Jacob fell silent at Diana's words.
Brenda sensed the tense atmosphere and, wanting to make the pregnant Diana feel more at ease, gestured for Jacob to leave. "I'll handle this. You go on."
Jacob, seeing this, didn't get angry. He quietly left, closing the door behind him.
"Ms. Spencer, your body is really weak right now. You need to get some nutrients," Brenda explained.
Diana was pregnant, and her usual diet just wasn't cutting it. She was basically a malnourished pregnant woman.
Diana, however, didn't care. She didn't want the baby in the first place. "Dr. Ramos, is there any medication that can end this pregnancy?"
Brenda froze, not expecting that. "You don't want this baby?"
Diana nodded. "Yes, can you help me terminate it?"
While respecting a pregnant woman's choice was important, Brenda worked for Charles. She gave a regretful smile. "I'm sorry, I can't do that. Mr. Percy wants me to take good care of you, which means he wants this baby."
"I can pay you, a lot of money," Diana tried to persuade her.
"Mr. Percy can pay more. Ms. Spencer, you should focus on your pregnancy." Brenda was in this job because Charles paid her a fortune. Plus, it was an easy gig with hardly any other patients.
Brenda valued her job but knew what kind of man Charles was, which made her feel a bit sorry for Diana.
So, when she reported Diana's condition, Brenda subtly mentioned that the baby's development was tied to the mother's mood.
She hoped Charles wouldn't stress Diana out.
But Charles forgot all about that advice the moment he saw Diana.
"Until this baby is born, you're staying here. Someone will take care of your daily needs." Charles said coldly, as if the baby wasn't even his.
Diana stood up, her brows knitted. "Charles, are you using me as a baby machine? If I remember right, you despise me."
"The Percy Group needs an heir," Charles said, locking eyes with Diana, his face as cold as ever.
After their divorce, he had zero plans to remarry, which meant no more kids.
The Percys acted all respectful towards Charles, but deep down, they were just waiting for something to happen to him so they could swoop in.
Charles was an illegitimate child, and everyone knew it. His mom was his dad's first love, but they split up because of family drama.
When his mother found out she was pregnant with Charles, the Percy family already had a new mistress. Shortly after, Charles had a half-brother, Zachary Percy.
Charles' mother died in a car accident when he was seven years old, and Juniper brought Charles back to the Percy family.
To the Percys, Zachary was the perfect fit to take over the Percy Group, not Charles.
But Charles was ruthless. When he took over the company, his first move was to send Zachary overseas. It looked like a promotion but was really just a way to get rid of him, and he hadn't been back in years.
Not only that, Charles also ensured that the Percys held no real power.
No matter how well the Percy Group did, these people wouldn't get any benefits.
Because of this, a lot of them resented Charles and wanted Zachary back to take over.
Back then, Juniper had arranged Charles' marriage to secure his position in the company.
As long as he was married with a kid, Zachary would have to deal with both Charles and his kid, splitting his focus.
But Charles hated Diana so much that their two-year marriage went nowhere.
This gave the Percys more ammo to push for Zachary's return.
Now, with Diana unexpectedly pregnant, the Percy Group had an heir. Those with hidden agendas had to back off.
Diana, though, couldn't care less about all this. She snapped, "We're divorced. What does the Percy Group have to do with me? There are plenty of women out there willing to give you an heir."
"Diana, I'm not asking you; I'm ordering you." Charles' voice was firm. "I'll have Nolan prepare the papers. After you give birth, you'll get a big payout. The kid will be mine, and you'll have no ties to him. You are never to show your face again."
Diana scoffed, "What makes you think I'll go along with this?"
"If you don't care about the people around you, go ahead and defy me." Charles' threat was always effective.
Sure enough, Diana's face went pale. She glared at Charles, wishing she could rip him apart.
"If you try anything to end this pregnancy, I'll make their lives a living hell." Charles' words cut deep. He wasn't messing around.
