Chapter 13 Beating Up Matthew
"Alright, alright, alright." Matthew was lounging on the couch, too far from the door to catch what was being said.
Matthew figured Charles had instructed Diana to wait on him.
Diana stumbled a few steps after Charles shoved her, and Matthew caught her.
"What's your name?" Matthew's big hand gripped Diana's shoulder, his face full of lust.
Diana's scalp tingled as she felt Matthew sniffing her from behind. It was utterly disgusting.
The door to the private room closed, and the men in black backed off.
Now, it was just the two of them, and a fierce glint flashed in Diana's eyes.
Diana twisted her shoulder and wriggled free from Matthew's grip. She didn't stop and slowly sat back on the couch.
"Come closer, and I'll tell you," Diana said.
Matthew's face lit up at her words, and he hurried towards Diana.
But the next second, Diana grabbed a bottle and smashed it over his head several times.
Matthew's body froze as sharp pain shot through his head. His vision blurred, and he collapsed to the ground, wailing in agony.
The air reeked of blood.
Diana threw the bottle to the ground, relishing the sound of shattering glass mixed with Matthew's painful cries.
As the bottle shattered, Matthew clutched his head and fainted.
Diana stepped over him with big strides, pushed open the door of the private room, and found no one outside.
Charles must've thought Diana wouldn't escape from Matthew, so he didn't leave anyone to guard her.
Diana casually called over a passing waiter, "Get your duty manager here, there's an issue in room 19."
The customers here were either rich or powerful, so the waiter didn't dare delay and quickly called the duty manager.
When the manager arrived, he was shocked by the scene and immediately ordered someone to call an ambulance.
Even though Matthew's company was failing, he was still not someone they could afford to offend.
But Diana, standing beside him, seemed indifferent, calmly watching the busy bodyguards.
The duty manager was puzzled. Since Diana dared to hit Matthew so harshly, could her background be even more formidable?
The duty manager didn't dare make a direct judgment and had the bodyguards detain Diana while reporting the situation to his superiors.
Meanwhile, Charles got news of Matthew's injury and told Nolan to destroy the contract.
Nolan knew well that the Percy Group never engaged in deals that sustained losses.
Charles had come to this drinking session specifically to give Diana trouble.
Soon, the club's general manager arrived at the private room along with Charles and Nolan. The duty manager, seeing another big shot arrive, was so scared he could barely speak, "Mr. Percy!"
Charles glanced at the mess on the floor.
It seemed Diana hadn't tangled much with Matthew and had directly smashed his head.
Charles raised an eyebrow, somewhat surprised.
If it were the old Diana, she would probably be crying and saying she never wanted to like him again.
But now, Diana sat quietly in the room.
The dim light made her features gentle, and she looked very obedient.
If she hadn't admitted to hitting Matthew, no one would have thought this seemingly fragile girl had such great strength.
Charles looked at Diana on the couch, a cold smile on his lips. "She's with me. Are you sure she was the one who injured Mr. Moore?"
The duty manager, hearing Charles speak, got all flustered.
He'd already asked the waiter and found out Diana was brought by Charles, which made him nervous and unsure of what to do.
Both Matthew and Charles were big shots.
But the Percy Group's business covered two-thirds of the country, with a family history of commerce. In Evergreen City and beyond, they were considered untouchable.
The duty manager had already suspected that Diana's identity wasn't simple.
Charles's arrival confirmed his suspicions.
The duty manager couldn't help but grumble inwardly, 'Why do you big shots have to fight here? Now Charles is here to back Diana, but Matthew was the one who got hurt. What should I do?'
The duty manager was anxious, carefully considering how to explain the situation. He cautiously spoke, "Mr. Percy, the lady you brought hit Mr. Moore with a bottle. We've already sent Mr. Moore to the hospital promptly. But..."
"Since that's the case, the one who made the mistake should be punished. Let her kneel and apologize to Mr. Moore." Charles cut him off before he could finish.
Charles had come back to see how Diana would handle the situation. Since she seemed indifferent, he didn't mind helping her find a solution.
The duty manager didn't expect Charles to say that, but he was secretly pleased. At least this way, the club's business wouldn't be affected.
After speaking, Charles turned and left, leaving Nolan to handle the aftermath.
Nolan looked at the motionless Diana and said to the man in black beside him, "Follow Mr. Percy's orders and have Ms. Spencer accompany Mr. Moore."
Diana had anticipated the consequences before acting. She stood up slowly, her expression calm.
A bodyguard reached out to grab her, but she dodged. "I can walk myself."
Seeing Diana being taken away, Nolan told the duty manager, "The Percy Group will cover today's losses, but make sure everyone's clear on what to spill and what to zip."
With that, Nolan turned and left.
The manager and duty manager nodded respectfully, relieved to see Charles leave.
Diana was taken to the hospital by a group of bodyguards. Matthew, lying in a VIP room, had his head bandaged, looking quite miserable.
At Charles's command, the bodyguards forced Diana to kneel, giving her nothing but water.
Matthew stayed in the VIP room, and during his coma, only doctors, nurses, and his employees visited him.
They were puzzled to see Diana kneeling but didn't dare ask questions, intimidated by the burly bodyguards.
Diana knelt for three days, her knees numb and unable to feel.
The bodyguards took turns watching her, lifting her up if she collapsed.
At first, Diana resisted, but she couldn't match the four well-trained bodyguards.
Gradually, she stopped resisting, closed her eyes and bowed her head, kneeling by the bed like a statue.
Charles intended to torment Diana, and now she was too weak due to hunger.
Matthew finally woke up after three days.
One bodyguard left to inform Nolan, leaving Diana and another guard.
Diana's hand subtly moved along her skirt.
Suddenly, she collapsed as if fainting.
The bodyguard, used to this, bent down to lift her.
But Diana moved swiftly, and the guard saw only a blur and then lost consciousness, collapsing to the ground.
Diana slowly stood up, supporting herself on the bed, only to meet Matthew's terrified gaze.
