Chapter 357 Fake Uncle
Dean had never felt this anxious before.
Even during the toughest missions with Sword of Damocles, his emotions had never been this chaotic.
He had lost track of Benjamin, who had run off to the Rainbow Federation.
Now, Benjamin was in Charles' hands.
Ever since Diana returned to Sword of Damocles, they had avoided talking about the Rainbow Federation.
But as Benjamin grew older, he would often ask curiously, "Where did my daddy go?"
Initially, Dean didn't plan to tell him, but Diana calmly said, "He has the right to know who his father is."
So, through Dean and Diana's accounts, Benjamin learned about Charles for the first time.
Later, he started searching online for information about him.
Eventually, Benjamin discovered that Charles was neither a good husband nor a good father, and he began to resent him.
Dean was scared.
He feared that Charles would recognize Benjamin, and if they reunited, it would mean Diana would be exposed too.
She had managed to escape Charles' control with great difficulty and couldn't go through that again.
He also feared that if Benjamin met Charles, he might lose control of his emotions, provoke him, and end up being imprisoned by Charles.
The more Dean thought about it, the more terrified he became. He couldn't sleep on the plane.
And to make matters worse, the next flight was delayed.
No matter how skilled he was, he couldn't teleport like Superman.
Dean suppressed his anxiety, took out his phone, and activated Plan B.
Even if he couldn't personally go to the Rainbow Federation, he had to get Benjamin out of there and away from Charles.
At the Percy Mansion, Benjamin was leisurely snacking.
He was still sitting on the stairs, but Jacob had placed a cushion under him, making it much more comfortable.
His watch suddenly vibrated. Benjamin raised his hand to check it, and his eyes lit up.
It was a message from Dean!
Dean: [Benjamin, I'm in Verdantis right now. My flight was delayed, so I can't come to get you personally. But I'll have a friend in the Rainbow Federation pick you up. When you meet him, don't give anything away. I've bought you a ticket to Verdantis. We'll meet at the airport tonight and go home together.]
Benjamin felt a bit tense at first, but after reading the message, he relaxed.
It didn't matter, as long as he could go home.
Seeing how concerned Dean was, Benjamin felt a bit guilty. It was his fault for running off, and now Dean was worried sick.
He thought about it while replying to the message.
Benjamin: [Okay, Dean. I love you.]
Far away in Verdantis, Dean received the message and felt a warmth in his heart, easing his tension.
He clenched his fist and thought, 'Little rascal, when we get home, I'll teach you a lesson.'
Knowing Dean couldn't come personally, Benjamin lost the urge to wait.
He stood up, stretched, and decided to wait inside.
Around noon, a taxi pulled up in front of the Percy Mansion.
The security guard had been informed that someone was coming to pick the kid up and immediately let them through.
"Benjamin, your uncle is here to get you."
Jacob called from the door.
"Coming," Benjamin responded leisurely, got up from the couch, put on his shoes, and walked to the door.
He no longer looked as eager as he had in the morning.
What was going on with Benjamin? Wasn't he homesick earlier?
Jacob was suspicious, his eyes fixed on the taxi, wanting to see what Benjamin's uncle looked like.
As the back door opened, a chubby young man stepped out, startled by everyone's gaze.
He quickly smiled and scanned the area, his eyes landing on Benjamin.
It seemed this was the person he was here to pick up.
"Benjamin, I'm here to get you!"
He opened his arms in a welcoming gesture.
Benjamin blinked and immediately got into character, launching himself into the man's arms like a missile.
"Uncle Dean, you're finally here. I missed you so much."
Benjamin said while rubbing his head against the man's belly.
'The fake uncle's belly is much softer than Dean's, so comfortable,' he thought to himself.
Behind him, Jacob stepped forward, scrutinizing their faces, his brows furrowing.
"You're Benjamin's uncle? You don't look alike at all."
Most nephews resemble their uncles, even if only a little. But these two had no resemblance whatsoever.
Jacob was very suspicious of the man's identity.
The man picked up Benjamin, still smiling, and pulled out some papers from his bag, handing them to Jacob.
"Here's the proof you asked for. These are photos of Benjamin taken at home, and some of us together. Is that enough?"
He added, "But honestly, you guys are something else. My kid gets lost, he recognizes me, calls me uncle, and I still have to provide proof. Isn't that a bit ridiculous?"
Jacob took the papers, which included various photos of Benjamin, even from his baby years. But there were no photos with his mother.
"It's enough proof."
After he finished looking, the chubby man took them back.
"Since it's enough, we'll be leaving. I hope next time, Mr. Percy doesn't get too charitable. Otherwise, I won't know if it's sheltering or kidnapping."
Though he looked friendly, his words were sharp.
Even Jacob's face turned sour, but since the man was Benjamin's uncle, he held back, only turning to Benjamin and saying, "Benjamin, be good and listen when you get home. Don't run off again."
Benjamin nodded obediently. Despite disliking the Percy family, he was quite fond of Jacob.
"Goodbye, Mr. Hearst. Goodbye, Snowy."
The Percy Mansion witnessed a farewell.
Benjamin got into the car, still waving his little hand.
Once they left the Percy Mansion, he pulled his hand back and closed the window.
The chubby man spoke with interest, "What? You don't want to leave?"
Benjamin shook his head, "No, if I didn't want to leave, I wouldn't have asked Dean to come get me. Thank you for today, sir."
"You're welcome. Dean is my best friend. Anything he asks, I'll do. My name is Tristan Knight."
Tristan had heard from Dean about Benjamin being forcibly detained and was furious.
To prove their relationship, Dean had even fabricated photos of Tristan and Benjamin together.
After receiving the photos, Tristan rushed to the Percy Mansion.
Now that the task was complete, he felt very satisfied.
Beside him, Benjamin called out sweetly, "Mr. Knight!"
Tristan patted his head, "Now I'll take you to the airport. Once you're on the plane, you'll be home."
"Okay!"
Benjamin was excited.
At the airport, there were still two hours before the flight.
It was past lunchtime, and Benjamin's stomach was empty. He couldn't help but say, "Mr. Knight, I'm hungry."
"Let's go get a burger."
But Benjamin shook his head, fidgeting, "But I need to pee first. You go order a kids' meal, so we don't have to wait in line. I'll be out soon."
Tristan glanced at the nearby fast-food place and agreed, "Alright, but hurry up."
"Okay."
With that, Benjamin dashed to the restroom, finally able to relieve himself.
As the toilet flushed, Benjamin pulled up his pants. Suddenly, someone knocked on his stall door.
Benjamin was focused on fastening his suspenders, thinking it was just someone needing the restroom, and responded casually, "Occupied."
The knocking continued.
