Chapter 166 Am I not?

Diana turned and saw him picking up a bag of parts from beside the toolbox.

Her eyes widened, and she got a bit agitated, "How is that possible? I just looked for so long."

Charles raised an eyebrow, "Maybe your eyesight isn't that great. What did you just say? Diana Percy, it does have a nice ring to it."

"You!" Diana was so flustered she bit her lip. She had looked everywhere and didn't see it. Did the parts just appear out of nowhere?

While she was in a daze, Charles took over, kneeling on the ground and installing the parts one by one.

Nolan was startled seeing his boss on the ground, working on a baby crib.

Charles kept his head down, a secret smile forming where no one could see.

Diana could search the whole house and still not find it because he had the parts all along.

He kept a straight face and said, "Diana, it's okay to be clueless, but at least try to read the room. Come over and help."

Nolan stepped forward to help but was pulled back by Jacob.

He could only watch as Diana reluctantly handed things over.

Nolan whispered, "Jacob, what are you doing? Mr. Percy needs help, I have to go."

Despite his age, Jacob's grip was strong, "Mr. Smith, you need to read the room. Can't you see Mr. Percy wants Ms. Spencer to help?"

Nolan paused, "Mr. Percy clearly dislikes Diana. He must have no choice but to ask her for help."

Jacob shook his head, "Mr. Smith, you need to find a girlfriend. Always hanging around Mr. Percy..." He trailed off, thinking, 'You're becoming an emotionally dull fool.'

But Nolan didn't get it and replied, "I want to, but I don't have time."

He saw Charles more than anyone else every day. Where would he find time to date?

Jacob ignored him, his eyes on Charles and Diana, feeling satisfied.

Even though Charles still looked stern, Jacob could tell he was happy.

Since Juniper passed away, it had been a long time since he'd seen Charles this happy.

With Charles and Diana working together, the crib was almost done, just missing the last small wooden board.

"Come over and put this on," Charles said, handing the final task to Diana.

Diana had just read the manual and knew the small wooden board was for the child's name. She pursed her lips and took the hammer to finish the job.

Diana held the screw with her right hand and the hammer with her left, hitting the screw head with precise force.

With the four screws in place, the baby crib was finally assembled. Diana's lips curved into a faint smile, her eyes filled with satisfaction.

Even though the baby wouldn't use it right away, the process was still pretty fulfilling and fun.

Applause from the side interrupted her thoughts.

Jacob pulled Nolan to clap, and Evelyn joined in.

"That's amazing. The baby will be so happy to sleep in a crib assembled by their parents."

Diana tugged at the corner of her mouth, thinking, 'Jacob's getting old and loves to talk nonsense. What would a baby understand?'

But Charles, hearing this, turned to her, his eyes slightly softened as he saw the light in her eyes.

"Ms. Spencer, leave the rest to the servants. Have some water and rest. Mr. Percy, you too."

Jacob handed them towels to wipe their sweat.

Diana took the towel and wiped the sweat from her forehead. Maybe it was because of the pregnancy, but she didn't feel tired just now. Now that everything was done, she felt particularly exhausted.

Seeing her unsteady steps, Charles frowned slightly and said, "Take her to rest."

'Poor stamina, still trying to push herself,' he thought. He picked up his clothes and walked out of the nursery, with Nolan quickly following.

Evelyn came over to support Diana. "Ms. Spencer, let's go back."

Diana pouted and muttered, "Who does he think he is, so self-righteous."

Hearing her, Jacob sighed inwardly.

Charles was difficult to get along with. When Juniper chose Diana, she hoped Diana's lively and considerate nature could help build a family with Charles.

But one wrong step led to another, and the two seemed to be at odds.

Now there was finally a glimmer of hope, but it wouldn't be resolved overnight.

Jacob felt a mix of emotions. If only Charles could always be like today.

So he said, "Ms. Spencer, Mr. Percy actually cares about you, he just doesn't know how to express it. He lost his mother at a young age..."

"Lost his mother? And I didn't?" Jacob's words ignited Diana's anger instantly.

Charles's mother died early, but so did Bianca.

When Juniper arranged the engagement between Charles and Diana, Bianca was also hoping they would take care of Diana after her death. And how did Charles treat her?

He almost strangled her several times. Was that care?

It was ridiculous!

If killing Diana would make the Percy Group better, Charles would do it without hesitation.

Jacob hesitated, wanting to defend Charles, but seeing Diana's agitation, he changed his words, "Ms. Spencer, I spoke out of turn. Please go rest."

Diana realized her tone had been sharp, and after a moment of silence, she said coldly, "Sorry, Jacob, I didn't mean to target you."

"Ms. Spencer, I understand. No need to apologize," Jacob said. Then he turned to Evelyn, "Evelyn, take Ms. Spencer to rest."

"Ms. Spencer, let's go back," Evelyn said softly.

Seeing both of them urging her to leave, Diana didn't say more and went back to her room with Evelyn.

At the villa entrance, Nolan and Charles were sitting in the Maybach.

Charles had postponed a meeting to come home today, and now that he was done, he had to get back to work.

In the back seat, Charles reached into his pocket and felt the corner of an invitation.

He remembered he had planned to give her the Richardson Group's invitation. But he got busy with the nursery and forgot.

Charles rubbed the corner of the invitation, thinking to himself, 'It doesn't matter if I give it to her or not, she'll have to come with me anyway.'
