Chapter 377 A New Agreement

Outside the hospital room, a few people stood by the door.

Benjamin pressed his ear against it, trying to catch any sound.

Nolan pulled him back. "Hey, don't eavesdrop."

Benjamin pouted, crossing his arms in a huff.

Eugene glanced at his watch and said to Nolan, "I gotta go. When he's better, I'll take him out for a drink."

"Alright."

After Eugene left, Nolan looked at Milan and whispered, "You should head out too. Mr. Percy needs to handle some personal stuff."

Milan rolled his eyes, his tone impatient. "My assistant is in there with him. How can I just leave her? Nolan, you're really pushing my buttons!"

"Sorry, Milan. I don't like this any more than you do. But where did you find this assistant? She looks almost exactly like Mr. Percy's ex-wife."

Milan's eyes flickered with uncertainty. He wasn't familiar with the history between Diana and Charles; he was just doing a favor for Dean by bringing Diana in.

But now, it seemed very likely that Diana was indeed Charles' ex-wife.

Clearing his throat, Milan said, "Of course, she was hired. I don't want to get involved in your past issues. I just want to take my assistant and leave."

Nolan's gaze was probing, but he didn't press further. Charles would surely have him investigate later.

Nearby, Stella listened to their conversation, her expression growing darker.

First, a child who resembled Charles appeared, and now a woman who looked like Diana. Who was causing all this trouble?

She and Charles were about to get married. This was a critical moment, and nothing could go wrong.

"Mr. Smith, what's going on? I'm Charles' fiancée. You shouldn't keep things from me."

"Ms. White, this is Mr. Percy's personal matter. If you want to know, you should ask him directly."

Nolan's tone was respectful, but his words were dismissive.

Stella clenched her fists, unable to argue.

Just as she was about to ask more, Charles' voice came from the room, "Nolan, come in."

Nolan quickly opened the door and entered. "Mr. Percy, what is it?"

Charles seemed in good spirits, but Diana, standing not far from him, looked troubled.

"Take this lady to The Percy Mansion and have Jacob find her a position."

Charles' thin lips curved into a faint smile, his sickly face showing a hint of amusement.

Nolan was stunned. What was going on? She had been so resistant earlier, and now she agreed?

Even more surprising, Charles wanted this woman at his home, not just at the hospital.

Stella had been with Charles for years and had never set foot in The Percy Mansion. Who was this woman? Just because she looked like Diana?

Nolan's mind raced, and he didn't respond immediately.

"Nolan?"

Charles' voice brought him back to reality.

"Yes, I'll make the arrangements."

He stepped back and turned to Diana. "Miss, I'll need your identification for the employment paperwork."

Nolan's tone was professional, focusing on the formalities.

Charles interrupted, "No need. Just arrange for her to stay in the guest room."

Nolan fell silent again, internally screaming. 'Charles, this is too much! Stella is right outside. How am I supposed to explain this?'

"Mr. Percy, we should handle this like a regular job. I don't want any special treatment," Diana said, frowning.

She hadn't expected Charles to go this far.

Twenty minutes ago, her words had made the room tense. She thought Charles would back down, but instead, he threatened her.

"If you don't agree, that's fine. But I don't want to see your face in Evergreen City again."

"What do you mean?"

"I think I was clear."

Diana gritted her teeth. Charles, this bastard, was threatening her?

In the past, she would have walked away without looking back. But now, with Benjamin here, how could she leave without any concerns?

Charles' eyes were eerily calm as he lay in bed. He coughed lightly and smiled faintly, "Have you made up your mind?"

Diana took a deep breath, "Fine, I agree. But once you're better, I'm leaving."

She didn't know what Charles was thinking, but she figured his injuries would heal in a couple of months. By then, she would have found a way to leave with Benjamin.

This deal was worth it.

"It's not special treatment. You need to be available to take care of me," Charles said, dismissing her concerns.

He then turned to Nolan, "Take her back."

Nolan nodded respectfully and gestured for Diana to follow.

Outside, Stella glared at Diana as she exited.

Nolan didn't dare mention Diana's move to The Percy Mansion. He simply nodded politely to Stella, "Ms. White, I'll take them back. Please feel free to stay."

He then motioned to Milan and Benjamin, "Let's go."

Once they left, Stella hurried into the room.

"Charles, what's going on? Who hurt you so badly?"

Charles, having finished his business, was resting with his eyes closed. He opened them, annoyed by the interruption.

"When you're in my position, many people are watching. I'm fine. Just take care of yourself."

Not only was he under scrutiny, but Stella also faced jealousy as the future mistress of the Percy Group.

If Charles hadn't dealt with many people behind the scenes, she would have suffered too.

Stella sniffled, looking worried, "Okay, don't worry about me. The most important thing is for you to get better. Once you're healed, we can get married."

Charles' eyes snapped open at her words. He looked at the teary-eyed Stella for a moment before speaking, "Our contract ends here."

The sudden statement hit Stella like a ton of bricks. She stood frozen, unable to react.

Charles' voice was calm, his expression as indifferent as ever, as if discussing something trivial.

After a long pause, Stella's lips trembled, and she forced a smile, "Charles, what are you saying? I've cleared my schedule to stay with you. You need someone to take care of you."

"Stella." Charles' cold gaze stopped her.

Hearing her name, Stella instinctively took a step back, wanting to leave quickly, "Are you hungry? I'll check when the food will be here."

Her instincts told her not to let Charles finish his sentence.

She turned to leave, but Charles' voice followed her, "Our contract is over."

"As for the cooperation between the White Group and the Percy Group, I'll have Nolan draft a contract to extend it by five years, with a 30% profit share for the White Group. Besides that..."
