Chapter 241 Exposure

As Charles finished speaking, everyone in the room turned to him.

Diana sensed trouble brewing, and her heart sank.

Noah, still supporting her, turned around, puzzled, and asked, "Mr. Percy, is there something you need?"

Charles' eyes were locked on Diana, who had her head down, looking like she wanted to disappear.

He found it somewhat amusing. Now she was scared?

The sound of his leather shoes tapping on the floor echoed as he slowly walked up to Diana, bent down slightly, and said, "Aren't you going to introduce us?"

His tone was calm, but his eyes were filled with anger.

Diana swallowed hard, meeting his gaze with a sense of resignation. Just as she was about to speak, Noah stepped in first.

"Mr. Percy, this is my friend Diana. She's a bit shy and not very good with people." He shifted nervously, half shielding Diana behind him.

Noah could sense that Charles' mood was off; his words were intended to protect Diana. Diana was brought by Sabrina, so he felt responsible for her.

But to Charles, this action was a challenge.

"Is she shy?" he repeated with a smirk.

Noah's protective stance only made Charles more irritated. He had underestimated Diana's charm; these men were all smitten by her.

With that thought, Charles no longer hid his anger. He grabbed Diana's arm and yanked her towards him.

Diana, already nursing a twisted ankle, didn't dare resist too much for fear of further injury. She stumbled and fell into Charles' arms.

The suddenness of it all left her disoriented. All she could hear was the strong heartbeat in her ear and the gasps of the others.

Sabrina was the first to react, her voice rising, "Charles, what are you doing?"

Diana's injury could be worsened by such rough handling. Sabrina saw her as a sister-in-law, and she was clearly unhappy with Charles' actions.

But Noah quickly pulled Sabrina aside, covering her mouth before she could say more.

Though he didn't fully understand the situation, he sensed something was off between Charles and Diana.

His expression turned serious as he said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Percy. Sabrina is young and spoiled by us."

He paused, his voice lowering, "I didn't know there was a special relationship between you and Ms. Spencer. If we've offended you, I sincerely apologize."

Charles smiled, his hands gripping Diana's shoulders as he turned her to face the others.

Leaning close to her ear, he whispered, "Do you still want to keep lying? Will you tell them, or should I?"

His breath on her ear made Diana's hair stand on end, like an insect suddenly exposed. She felt momentarily helpless.

Her gaze focused on Noah's stiff expression, Sabrina's wide eyes, and Billy's concerned and puzzled look from a distance. Nolan, silently prayed Diana would say something to calm Charles down.

But things were not going to go as he hoped.

Diana frowned, piecing together the situation; she and Sabrina had come to a birthday party, only to be caught by Charles.

But she was free to go out and see her friends. What was he making a fuss about?

As she struggled to understand, Charles' voice came again, cold and harsh, "I really underestimated you. You were using other men to sneak into this kind of event. Diana, don't forget your place!"

His voice was so low only Diana could hear, but it infuriated her. She took a deep breath, breaking free from his grip, and raised her voice, "Mr. Percy, don't you dislike me flaunting the title of your ex-wife? Why are you making me say it now?"

Her words left the room in dead silence.

Chloe forgot her pain, eyes wide as she processed what was happening. Charles being divorced wasn't a secret in Evergreen City's high society. He rarely brought Diana to events, so Chloe had no impression of her.

Now, the divorced couple was arguing in front of her because of two other men. It was so dramatic she wanted to grab a seat and watch.

Noah and Sabrina were stunned when they realized that Diana was Charles' ex-wife. Noah regretted not doing more research on Diana.

Regardless of Charles' current feelings for Diana, Noah knew he couldn't pursue her.

As Noah stood there in shock, Sabrina screamed, "What? Diana, you're Charles' ex-wife?"

Among them, Diana only felt guilty towards Sabrina, who was always sincere and sweet. Diana's lips moved hesitantly before she finally said, "I'm sorry, Sabrina. This is a personal matter I didn't want to bring up, but now I have no choice."

If Sabrina had known from the start, she might have been hostile towards Diana. But when she found out like this, it left her at a loss.

She couldn't reconcile Diana with the infamous ex-wife of Charles. More than that, she was hurt by Diana's secrecy.

Tears welled up in Sabrina's eyes as she bit her lip, then she stomped her foot in anger and ran off, lifting her dress.

Noah quickly apologized to Charles and chased after Sabrina, ignoring the reactions of the others.

Nolan thought to himself, 'You two run off and leave this mess for others to clean up.'

Diana took a deep breath, trying to keep her tone calm, "This is all I have to say. I'll be leaving now."

She took a step, but Billy spoke up, "Let me get someone to take you home."

He had noticed Diana's injured foot earlier; Charles, in his anger, had missed.

But Charles was more sensitive to Billy's concern than anyone else. The moment Billy spoke, Charles' sharp gaze turned on her, his tone hostile, "Who said you could leave?"

Diana paused, frowning, "Charles, what do you want?"

Before he could answer, Claire, who had been waiting for Charles to return, came out of the banquet hall.

Upon seeing the standoff, she quickly assessed the situation and walked over to Charles, extending a hand to Diana, "Hi, I'm Claire."
