Chapter 347 Be Taken to The Percy Mansion
"Snowy, you dumb dog," Charles muttered under his breath.
Snowy barked in response, clearly recognizing Charles as its owner but showing a preference for Benjamin.
Because he carried a familiar, warm scent.
Benjamin, with a determined look, quickly stepped in front of Snowy. "Don't you dare insult it. Silver, let's go!"
He reached out to put the leash back on the dog.
Charles frowned deeply, took two steps forward, and grabbed the dog by the scruff of its neck, pulling it back.
Seeing Charles trying to take Snowy, Benjamin bent down and hugged the dog tightly, shouting, "Help! Kidnapping!"
A few men in black suits rushed over to lift him up. One of them tried to cover his mouth but got bitten instead.
The man yelped in pain and instinctively let go. Benjamin stood back on the ground, his eyes blazing with anger, like a little porcupine with its quills raised.
The hotel receptionist, who had initially decided not to intervene, saw the men using force on Benjamin and quickly stepped in to stop them.
"What are you doing? Picking on a kid, you big bullies!" She stood in front of Benjamin, her voice stern despite her own fear. "If you don't leave, I'll call security."
Nolan, no longer polite, stepped forward and warned, "This kid stole our boss' dog. Even if you call the police, we're in the right."
The receptionist's confidence wavered under his intimidation.
She crouched down and spoke to Benjamin, "Sweetie, where are your parents? Do you know their phone number? I can call them for you."
Benjamin shook his head. Diana wouldn't come here, and as for his real dad, he was standing right in front of him.
"Thank you, but it's okay. I can handle this myself."
The receptionist continued to try to persuade him, while Charles watched Benjamin's actions closely.
He turned to Nolan and said, "Find out who this kid is."
Nolan's expression changed slightly, and after a moment, he nodded respectfully. "Yes, Mr. Percy."
Benjamin had no idea what they were planning and continued to refuse the receptionist's help.
Charles, tired of wasting time, took a step forward and said, "Alright, let's settle this fairly. Let's go to the police station."
Benjamin's face tightened. "Fine."
Seeing him agree, Charles nodded slightly. "Let's go."
After causing a scene in the hotel, they finally left.
Since Benjamin didn't want to be separated from Snowy, he sat in the back seat of Charles' car with the dog, while Nolan drove.
The dog sat between them, thrilled to be with two of its favorite people. It alternated between licking one and then the other.
Charles, annoyed, pushed the dog's head away. "Too dumb to know who its owner is."
Benjamin huffed, covering the dog's ears to block out the harsh words.
The two of them sat in silence for a while until Charles finally spoke. "What's your name? Who are your parents? What do they do?"
Benjamin stared straight ahead, answering dismissively. "Sir, I don't have to tell you anything. Stop asking."
"I just think you look familiar," Charles said slowly, his gaze almost piercing through Benjamin.
"Really? Maybe we just look alike," Benjamin replied, his tone flat.
Charles' curiosity was piqued, and he pressed further. "How so?"
"Two eyes, one nose, one mouth. Satisfied? When are we getting to the police station? I have things to do."
Benjamin was getting impatient. The longer he stayed with Charles, the more likely things would go wrong.
"Soon," Charles replied curtly.
Seeing that Benjamin didn't want to talk, Charles leaned back in his seat and closed his eyes to rest.
Benjamin focused on the scenery outside, trying to spot the police station among the buildings.
But as the car drove on, it veered away from the city center.
A sense of unease washed over Benjamin. When he recognized the familiar road, he spoke up urgently, "Where are you taking me? This isn't the way to the police station."
He had passed this way in the taxi yesterday. Charles wasn't taking him to the police station; he was heading to The Percy Mansion.
Seeing that Benjamin had figured it out, Charles smirked. "You recognize this place? You took my dog from here yesterday, didn't you?"
Caught off guard, Benjamin stammered, "I don't know what you're talking about, but we're getting farther from the city center. This isn't the way to the police station. This is kidnapping!"
Charles found his righteous indignation amusing. "It's just us here. No need to pretend. I just want to take you back to show you how I take care of Snowy."
He paused for a moment before continuing, "Kidnapping you doesn't benefit me. You can call the police right now if you want."
Charles handed over his phone, even opening the dial screen for him.
Benjamin looked at the screen, but his mind was elsewhere.
He had only wandered around outside The Percy Mansion yesterday and hadn't been inside. That was where Diana used to live. He was curious about the environment Diana had lived in.
With that thought, Benjamin handed the phone back. "Alright, I'll trust you this time."
His wristwatch was more useful than calling the police. If he was in danger, he just had to press a button, and the Sword of Damocles would get his real-time location.
Then the members of the Rainbow Federation would come to his rescue, much more reliable than the police.
For once, they were in agreement, and the atmosphere in the back seat became a bit more harmonious.
As the Maybach drove into The Percy Mansion, Jacob anxiously greeted them at the door. "Mr. Percy, did you find Snowy..."
Before he could finish, the car door opened. A little boy got out, holding Snowy's leash.
He paused when he saw Jacob, then politely said, "Hello."
Charles raised an eyebrow, surprised to see the mischievous kid being so polite.
Jacob's wrinkled face froze, his eyes glued to Benjamin. After a moment, he asked in a trembling voice, "Mr. Percy, who is this?"
The boy looked so much like Charles when he was young, almost like father and son. But Charles' child had been gone for a long time.
Jacob's heart raced with excitement as he looked at Charles.
Charles replied coolly, "I don't know him. He took Snowy. He doesn't believe Snowy is mine. Prove it to him."
Jacob felt a pang of disappointment. He turned to Benjamin with a kind smile.
"Kid, this dog belongs to Mr. Percy. It ran away yesterday. Thank you for taking care of it. Now that it's home, would you like to see its room?"
Benjamin stared at him without blinking. So this was the Jacob that Diana had mentioned, a very kind old man.
It was true that a person's thoughts could affect their appearance. Jacob looked extremely friendly.
'Anyone who's good to Mommy is a good person.'
With that in mind, Benjamin's eyes sparkled with a smile, and he nodded. "Sure."
Charles watched their interaction closely. So this kid's wariness of strangers was only limited to him?
