Chapter 486 Check whereabouts
The engagement was called off because Diana came back with a kid.
A healthy boy, who would be the future heir to the Percy Group.
How could she compete with Diana now? Charles wouldn't even look at her.
"Hey, chill out. It's just my guess."
Claire's words snapped Stella out of her thoughts, her emotions all over the place.
"What are you guessing about? If it's his biological son, why would he say it's his brother's kid?"
"Don't freak out. I'm pretty sure I'm right. Because his brother's mom, my aunt, doesn't acknowledge this grandson."
Claire watched Stella's anxiety with a smirk and then dropped another bombshell.
"Your aunt is Elise Sinclair?"
Stella's eyes widened in shock. No wonder Claire had been by Charles's side for years without any progress in their relationship. It seemed her identity played a part.
She suddenly became serious and voiced her suspicion,
"You mean this kid is currently using Zachary's son's identity, and Charles doesn't know. So, our collaboration involves Elise, right?"
Claire was surprised at Stella's sudden insight. It seemed the famous actress wasn't so dumb after all.
Since they were to collaborate, they shared common interests. Elise cherished her reputation and wanted to use Claire to get things done. Similarly, Claire didn't want to get her hands dirty, making Stella the perfect candidate.
"Exactly. So this is a collaboration among the three of us. We hold each other's secrets. If anyone betrays, no one will have a good time."
Seeing Claire's sinister look, Stella swallowed hard,
"What do you plan to do?"
"Better to kill by mistake than to let go. Since she likes to fake her death, let's send her to hell for real."
Claire's gentle face spoke the most venomous words, her ruthlessness shocking Stella.
Stella remained silent for a while.
Claire raised an eyebrow and stood up,
"If you're too scared, there's nothing more to discuss. Ms. White, go back to your room and continue crying. I'm leaving."
With that, Claire picked up her bag and walked away, her high heels clicking on the wooden floor, each step echoing in Stella's heart.
"I agree."
Just as Claire's hand touched the doorknob, she heard the expected response from behind.
She smiled and turned around,
"I believe our collaboration will be very pleasant."
Percy Group Building.
After lunch, Eugene was unceremoniously kicked out by Charles.
But instead of returning to the company, he headed to the Percy Mansion, as he was now a male nanny.
With Eugene gone, the office became much quieter.
As Charles finished dealing with the documents, he glanced at the time.
It was already 4 PM, and Diana hadn't returned yet.
Feeling irritated, he loosened his tie and picked up his phone to call Diana.
The phone rang several times before she answered slowly.
"What is it?"
Her voice was official and cold.
Charles frowned and said in a deep voice,
"When are you coming back? It's been a long time. Who are you with now?"
After lunch with Isolde and a few others, Diana had visited Cecil's kindergarten and was now having afternoon tea at a café. The call disrupted the atmosphere, making her uncomfortable.
"What do you want? I told you, I'm with friends. Isolde Porter, you've met her."
"You saw her this morning, and you're still with her this afternoon? Where are you? Send me your location and a photo."
Charles ignored her explanation and kept pressing for her whereabouts.
Diana, not caring that Evelyn and Isolde were sitting across from her, rolled her eyes and lowered her voice to curse,
"What's your problem? Your people monitor me 24/7. Don't you know who I'm with? If you keep this up, I'll beat you when I get home!"
Her voice grew louder, catching Isolde and Evelyn's attention.
After a moment, Charles chuckled, feeling much better after her scolding,
"I'm exercising my right as a husband to know. In exchange, I can send you my whereabouts too."
Without waiting for Diana's response, he hung up.
Several messages quickly followed.
Two of them were photos.
One showed his desk, with the clock prominently displayed to prove it was just taken.
The other was a selfie, or rather a half-body shot. Charles only showed his upper body. His white shirt clung to his muscular frame, his arm crossed over his chest, with a Patek Philippe watch on his wrist. The backlight made the photo a bit dark, but his muscle contours were faintly visible.
Charles: [Your turn.]
At that moment, Isolde leaned over,
"What are you looking at? So engrossed."
The screen still displayed the photo. As a single woman, Isolde's favorite pastime was admiring beautiful male bodies.
Her eyes lit up, and she patted Diana's arm with a knowing look,
"Diana, next time we go out, I'll get you a few male models with this body type. But for now, with Evelyn and me here, control yourself a bit."
She then touched her chin and commented,
"But do you like this type? All covered up, not very generous. But those pecs are pretty big, makes you want to..."
"Isolde, that's Charles."
Seeing Isolde about to let loose, Diana spoke softly, nearly choking her.
Isolde stammered, trying to explain,
"I mean, it makes me want to punch him! Seducing people in broad daylight."
Feeling the awkwardness, Isolde quickly changed the subject,
"Why did he send you this?"
"To check my whereabouts."
Diana replied weakly, taking a photo of the table and herself, following Charles's format. Unlike Charles's reserved selfie, she smiled and flipped the bird.
She sent the photos.
Diana: [Is this good enough, Mr. Percy?]
Charles replied quickly, no longer aggressive, returning to his usual demeanor.
Charles: [Good, come back soon.]
Looking at Diana's smiling face on the screen, Charles unconsciously rubbed his fingers and then saved the photo with a serious expression.
They didn't have many photos together. They should take more in the future.
After Diana finished, Isolde curiously asked,
"Doesn't he have people watching you? Why check your whereabouts?"
She glanced at the bodyguard at the door, who was also looking at her. She quickly turned away, pretending to drink juice.
Evelyn, who had been silent, spoke softly,
"Maybe he's afraid Ms. Spencer will secretly meet Mr. Richardson."
Charles had been jealous of Billy before, and even after five years, he still had a psychological shadow.
