Chapter 28 Meeting Again

The two security guards exchanged a look and moved to escort Diana out.

But Diana threw a curveball that left everyone stunned. "I'm Charles's wife. Got a problem with me visiting my husband?"

Clara was taken aback and snapped, "You two are divorced. Why are you still clinging to Mr. Percy like a shameless woman?"

Diana turned to the security guards. "Did you hear that? Clara just admitted it. I'm here to discuss the divorce with Mr. Percy. It's normal for rich folks to have property disputes, right?" Her tone was light but convincing.

Seeing Clara at a loss for words, Diana continued, "Clara, I know you're Charles's secretary. But what happens between us is private. You're just an employee. Is it really your place to meddle in Mr. Percy's personal affairs?"

Clara was flustered and, noticing everyone staring at her, quickly said, "No, it's just that Mr. Percy said..."

Diana cut her off, waving her phone. "I just made an appointment with Charles five minutes ago. Clara, did he hang up and immediately tell you to kick me out?"

Clara was left speechless, watching helplessly as Diana headed to the elevator.

The security guards and receptionist didn't dare stop her, but they were shocked.

First thought: 'What! Mr. Percy is divorced!'

Second thought: 'What! Mr. Percy's wife seems to have changed.'

When Charles first got divorced, he had announced it. The high society of Evergreen City knew, but the employees were slow to catch on and only found out today.

No one dared to mess with Diana now. Whether or not she was still Charles's wife, her status was undoubtedly powerful. If they offended her, they'd be the ones to suffer.

The security guards were relieved they hadn't acted earlier and were annoyed with Clara. A secretary meddling in the boss's family affairs almost got them in trouble.

Seeing Diana heading upstairs, Clara hurried after her.

But Diana quickly pressed the close button, heading straight to the CEO's office.

Clara stomped her foot in frustration and took the adjacent elevator to catch up.

In the elevator, Diana took a few deep breaths. She had to be ready to face Charles. But she felt relatively safe today; they were in the company.

Charles wouldn't strangle her in public. Relying on her memory, she pushed open the door to the CEO's office.

Nolan was startled and wondered, 'Who dares to enter without knocking? Are they out of their mind?'

But seeing it was Diana, Nolan wasn't surprised. She had done bolder things before.

Charles looked up and saw Diana, feeling irritated again. His voice was urgent and angry. "Who let you up here? Where are the security guards?"

Clara caught up at that moment, looking anxious. She was out of breath from running.

Seeing Charles's angry face, she felt a bit pleased inside but didn't show it, speaking in a somewhat aggrieved tone, "Sorry, Mr. Percy, I couldn't stop her. Diana just said downstairs that she was your wife, so..."

Clara's gaze wandered, and her hands twisted her clothes. She bit her lower lip, looking self-condemned, but it was all an act.

Diana rolled her eyes. Sure enough, the next second, Charles roared, "Diana, who allowed you to flaunt the title of Mrs. Percy? Nolan, throw her out!"

Clara couldn't hide her smile upon hearing this.

Nolan immediately stepped forward to grab Diana's arm. He wasn't as gentle as the security guards. If he caught her, she would really be thrown out.

Charles was fuming. He knew Diana hadn't suddenly turned over a new leaf. Her words were just a ploy to grab his attention. Just yesterday, she said she regretted marrying him.

And now, here she was, flaunting the title of Mrs. Percy at his company.

'Does she really think this lame trick will get my attention? Ridiculous,' Charles thought.

In a moment, he'd have someone issue a notice to everyone in the Percy Group: He was officially divorced from Diana. From now on, no one was allowed to let Diana into the company.

Diana moved quickly, sidestepping Nolan. Facing an angry Charles, she showed no fear and stated, "Charles, why do you listen to Clara but not to me? What did I just say? The security guards and the receptionist downstairs heard it clearly. Do you have to take Clara's word for it?"

"Diana, stop making Mr. Percy angry and leave now!" Clara's voice was soft as she stepped forward to pull Diana away, but Diana shook her off.

"Clara, cut it out. Since you say I came here using the title of Mrs. Percy, then call those people up here and let's hear their side of the story,"Diana defended herself.

Clara didn't expect Diana to confront her with witnesses. 'Wouldn't that expose my lies?' she thought.

But Charles didn't want to deal with Diana any longer. He lowered his head and waved his hand, "Get her out of here, by any means necessary!"

He had a different view of Diana yesterday, but she was still the same, clinging desperately. There was no need to delay the bankruptcy liquidation of the Spencer Group. He wanted to deal with it and get Diana as far away as possible.

So Nolan reached out again, but Diana dodged him once more.

A trace of impatience flashed across Nolan's face as he warned, "Ms. Spencer, if you don't cooperate, I will use force."

Although Diana wasn't as strong as Nolan, she was confident in her agility. She dodged Nolan's grasping hands, step by step approaching Charles.

Diana moved quickly, each time Nolan was about to grab her, she would dodge.

At first, Nolan thought it was just a coincidence, but after several rounds, he couldn't even touch her clothes.

He could only watch as Diana got closer and closer to Charles.

Nolan panicked. 'What is going on with Diana? She dodges me so easily.'

As Diana got closer to the desk, she opened her phone and threw it on the desk, and a recording started playing.

Clara's face showed fear; she didn't expect Diana to have recorded it.

In the recording, Clara's voice was clear. It was completely different from the weak tone she usually used in front of Charles.

As the recording ended, the office fell silent. For a moment, the person who most wanted to run away became Clara.

Charles listened to the recording with a blank expression, not making any comments.

Diana looked at their varied expressions, amused.

She picked up her phone and continued, "I told you yesterday, I would come to see you again. But Mr. Percy, you seem really busy, I had to use some excuse to get in."

"And I told you yesterday as well, the Spencer Group is not for sale. Give up and get out. I'll ask Nolan to announce the bankruptcy liquidation soon." Charles's voice was calm, but it was clear he was suppressing his anger.

Diana was stunned. She didn't expect him to be so biased. Even with evidence in front of him, he still chose to believe someone else.

'What is so good about Clara?' Diana was confused; her lengthy defense paled in comparison to Clara's concise words.

Actually, Charles had just forgotten Clara was still there.

His mind was full of Diana's lies to get upstairs. She hadn't changed, still a habitual liar.

But in the tense atmosphere, Clara spoke up, "Mr. Percy, it's my fault. I wanted to stop her too much. But Diana is so eloquent, and I'm not good with words, so I was tricked by her."
