Chapter 9 Kidnapped
When Diana finally rolled out of bed, it was already the afternoon.
She'd had a rough sleep, tossing and turning, and even got hit with a nightmare.
In that dream, someone kept calling her name, but it was pitch black, and she couldn't see a thing.
Waking up in a panic, Diana knew there was no way she was getting back to sleep.
She got herself together and headed downstairs, just in time to see Robert waiting for her.
Robert had a stack of papers next to him. He greeted Diana and slid the documents over to her.
Diana flipped through them. "Robert, what's all this?"
"These are the Spencer Group's equity transfer papers, property handover forms, and the title deed for this house," Robert explained, sorting the documents neatly.
"Ms. Spencer, the Spencer Group is all yours now. But I checked some of the financials and found..."
Before Robert could finish, the door was kicked open with a bang.
A bunch of burly guys in black suits and shades stormed in.
Two of them grabbed Diana and lifted her off the ground. "Ms. Spencer, you're coming with us."
Robert freaked out and yelled, "What the hell are you doing? This is trespassing and kidnapping!"
But Robert was no match for these guys. One of them knocked him out cold with a single punch.
Diana's eyes went wide. She couldn't believe this was happening.
"Who are you? Let me go!" Diana struggled, but these guys were pros.
They dragged her out of the Spencer Villa.
Diana saw a familiar face just as she was shoved into a car.
The guy in the passenger seat had a stern look. Seeing her, he said, "Ms. Spencer, Mr. Percy wants to see you."
"Nolan? What the hell are you doing here? I already divorced your boss. Is this how you operate, kidnapping people?" Diana tried to open the car door, but it was locked tight.
Nolan's expression didn't change. He made a call, "We've got her. Be ready; we're on our way."
Diana was confused, not getting what they wanted.
Her past run-ins with Charles had been nasty, and she didn't want to see him again. Not until she had the power to take him down; the farther away, the better.
She yelled, "What do you want? Open the door, I want out!"
Diana hated being ignored. She lunged for the driver's seat, trying to open the door herself.
But Nolan blocked her with his long arm. "Ms. Spencer, calm down. Mr. Percy wants to see you. No matter how far you run, he'll bring you back."
Diana sneered, "When I left the Percy Mansion, he told me to get lost. Now he wants to see me? What, did he suddenly fall in love with me after the divorce?"
Nolan frowned and warned, "Ms. Spencer, you know Mr. Percy's temper. Don't provoke him; you'll regret it."
Diana snorted, crossed her arms, and stayed silent.
Charles, that jerk, wanted her gone and now wanted her back. She still remembered the choking feeling around her neck.
Diana thought, 'He wants to see me all of a sudden, so it can't be anything good. Is he still not satisfied and wants to beat me again?'
As Diana was lost in thought, the car sped through the city and stopped in front of a fancy house.
Nolan didn't bother getting out of the car; he had other stuff to handle. He told the men in black to take Diana out and reminded her, "Ms. Spencer, someone will come to get you soon. If you don't want any trouble, just go along with it."
The men in black tried to lift Diana again, but she shook them off. "Hands off; I can walk myself."
Diana stepped out of the car and looked up, realizing she'd been here before.
Two years ago, Juniper had insisted Charles marry Diana. The two families had a quickie ceremony here and got hitched in a daze.
But besides being a wedding spot, this place was known for its styling services. High-society ladies loved coming here for makeovers.
Now Diana was seriously puzzled about what Charles was up to.
Soon, her stylist showed up. "Hello, Ms. Spencer. I'm your makeup artist for today, Amelia Martinez. Please follow me."
Diana didn't say a word, just stared at Amelia, trying to figure out what was going on. When the two bodyguards saw her not moving, they raised their hands to push her, but Diana quickly followed Amelia.
Amelia led Diana to a seat in the makeup room. In front of her were makeup products and a big oval mirror with lights around it, making even her pores visible.
Diana's emotions had been all over the place lately, and she hadn't slept well. She had dark circles under her eyes, and her lips were a bit chapped.
Compared to the perfectly groomed Amelia, who looked flawless even down to her hair, Diana looked a bit rough.
Amelia was super professional and started applying skincare products to Diana.
Her touch was gentle, making Diana feel at ease. With a mask on her face, Diana asked, "Who do you usually style?"
Amelia paused for a moment and replied, "People who want to look good."
Such a vague answer. Diana wanted to dig deeper, but Amelia was clearly not easy to crack.
So Diana asked straight up, "Why did Mr. Percy ask you to style me? What's he planning?"
Knowing Diana would find out sooner or later, Amelia didn't hide it. "Mr. Percy wants to take you to a party," she replied.
Diana found it laughable. When they were married, Charles thought she was an embarrassment and rarely took her out. Now that they were divorced, he didn't mind her anymore. Did Charles have a screw loose?
"What party? Does someone as busy as him even have time for parties?" Diana was confused.
Amelia went silent.
The room grew quiet. Diana knew Amelia didn't want to talk, so she didn't push it.
Amelia meticulously applied makeup to Diana, who was contemplating whether to wash it off later, leaving Charles to take her to the party looking plain; after all, he would be the one embarrassed.
But as much as she thought about it, Diana didn't dare to actually do it.
If she pissed off Charles, he might say, "She's too ugly. Get rid of her."
That would be the end of Diana's life.
Diana watched in the mirror as Amelia's skilled hands concealed all her flaws. Her complexion improved significantly, and she couldn't help but marvel at the magic of makeup.
Amelia's makeup was actually very light. Diana was already very beautiful. With makeup, her red lips became alluring, and her eyes seductive, adding a touch of charm to her usual look.
Once Diana's makeup and hair were done, a man in black opened the door and announced, "It's almost time. Take her to change clothes."
