Chapter 260 New Requirements

Diana's hand was cold, barely gripping Charles' fingers, the chill making him frown slightly.

But what really upset him were Diana's words.

Diana had always been clingy, so why was she suddenly so obedient?

Was it just because he had spared Billy?

Thinking of this, Charles pulled his hand back, his tone icy.

"Leave Evergreen City? With who? Billy?"

Diana was taken aback. She had just said it to placate him, not expecting him to take it so seriously. "I didn't..."

She was cut off before she could finish.

"You'd kill yourself for him, wouldn't you? Is your love for him that deep?"

Charles' brows furrowed, his face darkening. He suppressed his anger, his voice hoarse.

The room was eerily quiet, and Diana didn't say a word for a long time.

She looked at Charles with wide eyes, puzzled, and asked, "Charles, do you like me?"

Before Charles could respond, Diana regretted it.

She slapped her mouth twice and apologized, looking down, "I talked too much."

They were already divorced, and knowing Charles, he might misunderstand that she still had feelings for him.

But his recent actions made her overthink anyway.

Charles looked down at her, his jaw trembling slightly with suppressed emotions.

Hearing Diana's words, his heart raced, almost as if it would leap out of his throat.

He swallowed hard, wanting to say something, but nothing came out.

He wanted to say something. To say he liked her?

But Diana's deep affection for Billy wouldn't allow his pride to share a woman with another man.

A woman like Diana, so hard to control, would probably become even more arrogant if she knew.

Finally, Charles unclenched his fist, frowning as he changed the subject, "Since you're bandaged up, get up. Don't take up medical resources."

"Okay." Diana responded softly, standing up obediently, avoiding his gaze.

On the way back, they were silent.

But Diana could deeply feel the resentment emanating from Charles.

She shrank into the corner of the car, distancing herself from him.

Seeing her like this, Charles felt a surge of frustration.

Remembering the doctor's words, he chose to hold back.

When they arrived at The Percy Mansion, Charles went upstairs first, leaving the servants with an angry back.

Jacob looked puzzled. 'What happened? Everything was fine before they left.'

But when he saw the bandage on Diana's neck, he immediately understood.

No need to guess; this injury was definitely related to Charles.

Evelyn was in the attic, unaware of Diana's condition.

If she found out, there would be another uproar.

"Ms. Spencer, I'll call Dr. Ramos to check on you." Jacob lowered his head, feeling deeply apologetic.

Charles, whom he had watched grow up, had become so violent.

Diana saw his misunderstanding and waved her hand, explaining, "No need, Jacob. I'm fine. This has nothing to do with Charles. I hurt myself accidentally."

Hearing this, Jacob was still skeptical.

After a moment, he said, "Ms. Spencer, Mr. Percy does care about you. His attitude has softened a lot recently. In a relationship, tolerance is more important than arguments. Mr. Percy lost his mother at a young age and needs someone to guide him, to teach him how to love."

He spoke a long paragraph, and Diana was slightly stunned.

Her attitude wasn't as aggressive as before.

After a while, she slowly said, "Someone will be willing to tolerate him," Diana said, her voice firm.

In other words, it had nothing to do with her.

If the old Diana heard this, she would probably cry and follow Charles again.

But she didn't like Charles. Why should she be the one to tolerate him?

Jacob pressed his lips into a thin line, lowering his head without saying more.

Charles' path to love was indeed difficult.

Diana didn't stay downstairs long before she felt sleepy.

She yawned and went upstairs to her room.

But as soon as she entered, she saw Charles sitting at the desk, a computer in front of him, seemingly working.

Diana blinked, thinking she was seeing things.

Wasn't he sulking? Why was he in her room?

As if to confirm her thoughts, from the moment she entered, Charles didn't spare her a glance, focused on his work.

Diana raised an eyebrow, thinking to herself, 'Silent treatment?'

But this tactic didn't work on her. She wished Charles would ignore her completely, treating her like air.

So Diana didn't say much, grabbing her pajamas and heading to the bathroom.

When she came out, Charles had changed his demeanor.

He sat on the couch, arms crossed, visibly radiating displeasure.

Diana, puzzled, circled the couch and got into bed.

As she snuggled into the covers, drifting off to sleep, Charles, who had been pretending to be aloof, lost control of his emotions.

He had been sulking all night, yet received no comfort.

Diana, the very cause of his frustration, just left him hanging and went to sleep. How was that even fair?

Charles, furious, couldn't tell who was giving the silent treatment.

He strode to the bed.

Diana had just fallen asleep, her hair covering part of her face. From Charles' angle, he could only see her delicate nose and full lips.

His gaze slid down to the annoying bandage, a constant reminder of what happened at the restaurant.

What was Billy doing now?

Probably feeling relieved, ready to compete with him for Diana again.

Thinking of this, a surge of anger filled Charles.

He roughly brushed the hair from her face, pinching her earlobe with his thumb, applying slight pressure.

In her sleep, Diana frowned at the sudden sensation.

The next second, without opening her eyes, she slapped Charles' hand away.

She even naturally buried her head in the covers, continuing to sleep.

Charles' hand, slapped, turned slightly red.

His fingers curled, looking at the lump on the bed, feeling a sense of helplessness.

After a moment, he left the room, heading downstairs.

It was late, and Jacob and the servants were checking the villa's appliances. Seeing Charles come down, they were surprised and quickly asked, "Is there anything you need, Mr. Percy?"

Charles nodded slightly, signaling Jacob to come closer.

Jacob approached, and Charles cleared his throat, saying, "Starting tomorrow, have Diana do some tasks with the servants."

Jacob blinked, not understanding at first, and asked, "Work with the servants?"

"Not work, just keep her busy."

Keeping her occupied would prevent her from seeking out other men.

Jacob frowned, nodding slowly, but couldn't help suggesting, "Mr. Percy, you could let Ms. Spencer work at the company."

After all, someone as educated as Diana would be more effective in the workplace than as a housewife.

Hearing this, Charles remained silent for a moment, contemplating, before finally shaking his head.
