Chapter 173 Then I Won't Stand on Ceremony
"We're not signing that!" Dorian swatted the contract Diana handed over, his voice dripping with disdain.
"Losses on a company project are normal. You think you can threaten us with this? How naive!"
Papers flew everywhere, and even the usually calm Robert clenched his fists in anger.
Bianca had busted her butt to keep the Spencer Group afloat. And now, they were getting played by people like this. Just thinking about how Diana, with no real backing, was tormented by the Percy Group made his blood boil.
Two ungrateful jerks, no punishment would ever be enough!
"Ms. Spencer, did you call me here today just to settle scores?" Silas's voice was deep and resonant, with a hint of anger.
Diana looked up, meeting his gaze without a hint of fear. "I've made it very clear. Return the shares, and I'll let this go."
Silas squinted, his gaze sharp, "You haven't cared about the Spencer Group for years, and you don't understand company management. Some losses are just part of the game, like Dorian said."
The old Diana might have been scared by his threat. But the new Diana just smiled, pulled out another document, and slid it across the table.
"If you had sold the shares back then, we wouldn't be here today. But you got greedy. Since you don't want to cooperate, I won't be polite."
Silas glanced at the document, and his eyes widened.
The previous document only detailed some project losses, but this one listed the details of embezzled funds.
Not only were the times clear, but even the account names where the funds were transferred.
These account names included Silas and Dorian. The others Diana didn't recognize, but she could guess they were other members of the Walker family.
Robert chimed in at the right moment, "Please transfer the funds listed in this document back to the Spencer Group account within a week. If you refuse, this document will be handed over to the police."
Since they didn't appreciate the kindness, they should return the money.
"How could this be..." Dorian looked at his name on the document, muttering to himself.
These were old matters, and the money had changed hands several times. How did Diana find out?
And the total amount on the document was in the billions. Even if the Walker family went bankrupt, they couldn't pay it back.
"Diana, you must be joking, right?" Silas forced a stiff smile, trying to ease the tension, "Let's talk this over. These old matters should be left in the past."
Diana raised an eyebrow. Now they wanted to play nice? Just like Clara.
"Silas, we could have let this go, but you didn't want to cooperate. Now, as you wish."
"No! We will cooperate! It's just a share transfer, right? Dorian, pick up the contract!" Silas slapped Dorian, urging him to pick up the scattered papers.
Dorian stood rigid, his face full of reluctance, but he had no choice but to obey Silas.
He bent down and picked up the papers one by one.
One sheet had drifted under the table. The table was low, and to reach it, Dorian had to kneel and stretch his hand. He was naturally unwilling to make such a humiliating move, so he called out, "Waiter!"
But the next second, Diana interrupted him slowly, "Dorian, you knocked it to the ground yourself. How can you trouble others?"
She looked at Dorian with a half-smile, and the room fell into an awkward silence.
"Dorian, pick it up!" Silas urged from the side.
Diana was clearly messing with them.
A smart man knew when to swallow his pride. Picking up a piece of paper was no big deal.
Dorian gritted his teeth and knelt on the ground. From Diana's perspective, he looked like a dog on all fours.
She covered her mouth and chuckled. Hearing her laugh, Dorian's face turned even redder. He finally grabbed the document from under the table.
He slapped the papers back on the table, "Alright! Can we sign now?"
Diana glanced at the messy papers and raised an eyebrow, "They're all mixed up. Robert, bring out a new one."
Robert nodded and pulled a fresh share transfer agreement from his bag.
"You had a backup and still made me pick them up! Are you messing with me?" Dorian gritted his teeth and glared at Diana.
"I didn't make you pick them up. You should ask your grandfather." Diana looked indifferent. Important documents always had backups. Who knew Silas would ask him to pick up the ones on the floor?
Dorian shouted, "You!"
"Enough, Dorian. Bring the document over, I need to sign it." Silas cut off the furious Dorian, his tone flat, "May I borrow a pen?"
Diana raised an eyebrow and signaled to Robert.
The next second, Robert handed him a pen.
Silas quickly scanned the document, confirmed it was correct, and signed his name at the end.
As the pen moved across the paper, Dorian couldn't help but speak, "Grandpa..."
"Enough, shut up!" Silas snapped and handed the signed share transfer agreement to Diana.
Robert took the document, confirmed the signature, and put the contract back in his bag.
"Now that the shares have been transferred, this debt should be written off." Silas clenched his right hand, which had just signed, his tone restrained.
"Who said signing the document would write off the debt? These shares aren't worth billions. Silas, you're too naive." Diana laughed mockingly.
Silas and Dorian had panicked at the sight of the evidence and signed the contract before negotiating the terms. They had no one to blame but themselves.
Silas's heart sank, his expression changing. He had thought Diana was just a little girl not worth mentioning, only lucky enough to hold these documents to threaten him.
But now, he felt Diana was unfathomably terrifying, "Diana, you can't be so ruthless. We need to get along in the future. I've already signed, and you still want to push us over the edge."
Silas gritted his teeth, wishing he could slap Diana.
"Sorry, I like to be thorough. What's the saying? To eliminate the threat completely, we must address the root cause." Diana looked calm, clearly not taking him seriously.
Dorian, who had been holding back, stood up. He wasn't strong, but he was taller than Diana.
He stared at Diana, the shadow of his figure enveloping her.
The atmosphere was tense, and Robert, sensing something was wrong, shouted, "What are you doing?"
"You forced me!" Dorian roared, raising his hand to strangle Diana.
However, a bodyguard hidden behind the sofa quickly restrained Dorian's arms, twisting them behind his back.
With the sound of bones moving, Dorian let out a scream. "Let go!"
"Dorian, you forced me." Diana looked at the bent and struggling Dorian, repeating his words.
It sounded especially ironic.
