Chapter 75 Take Action

Thinking about those negative comments made Clara furious. "These people don't spend a dime or buy the product, so what right do they have to criticize me?" Clara fumed to herself. Then she snapped, "How do you plan to use them? Let people criticize us even more?"

Axel took a deep breath and said, "Look, our product isn't ready yet. That's why people keep complaining. We should make the development process public and let folks online help us improve it. If we humble ourselves a bit and make changes to satisfy them, these bad reviews could actually help us in the long run." He paused and added, "Even bad publicity is still publicity."

In today's internet age, the worst thing wasn't getting criticized; it was being ignored. Sure, their plan was getting slammed, but online communities are pretty forgiving. If they made even a small improvement, people would feel like they helped save the company. On the flip side, Diana's team started off too strong. Any mistake they made would get them roasted.

Clara got it and felt uneasy again. Charles thought she should quit, believing the project was doomed. But after hearing Axel, she felt there might still be a chance to turn things around.

Clara thought for a moment and made a firm decision, "Alright, go for it. Do a good job, and there's a reward; mess up, and you're out."

Axel agreed, determined to prove himself. The PR department didn't have much to do, and if Clara noticed whether he was there or not, it wouldn't make any difference. He knew he'd get fired if things continued like this. For the sake of his well-paying job, Axel decided to go all in.

Meanwhile, Diana hadn't been sitting around at home. She had planned to get an abortion, but the hospital was so busy she couldn't get an appointment. She found herself stuck on a long waiting list. After thinking it over, Diana still didn't want to keep the baby. Now wasn't the right time for her.

Over the past couple of days, she managed her company's work from home and secretly contacted Henry and a few others. Henry and Douglas were okay, but Saskia was in the most danger. Diana was most worried about her and assigned a bodyguard to protect her.

Diana told Henry, "They've targeted your daughter to threaten you. But don't worry, I've arranged for someone to protect her. I've also added more security around your home. Your family will be safe."

Henry felt a chill run down his spine. He glared at Clara's office, scaring his colleagues who thought he was about to snap.

Diana also informed Douglas, whose situation was similar to Henry's. He didn't have a daughter but had an 80-year-old mother in poor health. He just wanted her to enjoy her remaining years in peace. He didn't expect them to target an elderly woman, and for a moment, Douglas felt very frustrated. Rather than constantly hiding, he thought it might be better to confront them head-on.

As for Saskia, Diana had even more to say. After all, she was to be the bait. Saskia's eyes were resolute. She would never forget that when she was scammed and destitute, it was Bianca who helped her. Now it was her turn to repay the favor, especially since Diana repeatedly assured her she'd be safe and protected. So naturally, there was nothing to worry about.

The three of them trusted Diana completely and got everything ready, waiting for Nathan to take the bait. It wasn't until the afternoon of the third day that things kicked off. Saskia was heading home from work, and as she walked through a quiet alley, someone grabbed her, covering her mouth and nose, and dragged her away. That was when everyone knew the plan was in motion.

Saskia was thrown into a van and taken to an abandoned factory. They tied her to a chair, and she couldn't break free. Even though her eyes were covered, she could feel the creepy stares from the group.

She was scared but managed to ask, "Who are you? This is kidnapping! It's illegal." The kidnappers exchanged looks and burst out laughing. The sound echoed off the walls, almost deafening.

One of them stepped forward and patted her face. "Someone paid a hundred grand for your life. They want you dead."

Saskia swallowed hard and asked, "Who? Who wants to kill me? I've always been honest and never done anything wrong!"

Another round of laughter followed, and a different guy spoke, "You stole the Williams Family's trade secrets, didn't you? And you want to send someone to jail. Isn't that asking for trouble? Now Mr. Williams wants you dead, and he asked us to tell you."

The group found it weird; it was their first time getting such a detailed job, having to explain why someone was going to be killed. Usually, they'd just get it over with. But the client was a freak and wanted a video recording, or they wouldn't get paid. So, they had no choice but to play along.

Saskia's expression changed, and she followed their lead, saying, "It's Nathan, isn't it! I didn't steal any trade secrets; it was him! He was caught embezzling funds and wanted me to take the fall. How could my measly salary cover millions in embezzlement?" Saskia's tone was indignant, and she was telling the truth.

At the time, the Percy Group only needed to look a little closer to see the discrepancies in the accounts. Nathan, feeling the heat, hinted over the phone that he wanted Saskia to take the blame. She overheard and fled with the evidence, but they kept chasing her.

The gang members raised their eyebrows, realizing their client was a real piece of work. But it also showed Saskia wasn't just some nobody; holding such evidence, no wonder she was a target.

One of them said, "I feel for you, but we need to make money too. You just had bad luck, crossed the wrong person. Mr. Williams is very generous; we'll even get a bonus after this."

Someone urged, "Why are you wasting time? Do it already!"

He replied, "We're recording a video, alright, alright, farewell."

Saskia couldn't see their faces, but their conversation made her extremely nervous. At that critical moment, several bodyguards burst in, first kicking away the guy holding the knife. Then, with a few electric batons, they had the gang members writhing on the ground.

"Stay still! Don't move!" The bodyguards shouted at the gang members. One of them tried to run but collapsed under the strong electric current. The kidnappers were completely subdued, squatting on the ground, not daring to speak. 'Where did these people come from?' they wondered.

They had been watching for days, and Saskia seemed like an ordinary middle-aged woman with no special abilities, so they hadn't brought guns. Seeing Saskia being helped away by the bodyguards, the kidnappers realized they had been set up.

Diana had originally planned to have just one person guard Saskia, but she couldn't shake off the uneasy feeling, so she decided to bring in a few more. Turned out, it was a good call, and she felt a bit more at ease.

"Ms. Spencer, should we take these guys to the police?" one of the bodyguards asked, looking at the tied-up kidnappers on the ground.

Diana, holding her phone in one hand, stared blankly at her fingers. "Nah, just keep them hidden for now. They're dangerous, but just make sure they don't starve." As she said this, Robert walked in and caught the tail end of the conversation. Seeing him, Diana gave a few more instructions and then hung up.
