Chapter 251 Call Him

Diana didn't wake up until three in the afternoon.

The blackout curtains in the room were doing their job, making it so dark she couldn't tell if it was day or night.

When she opened her eyes, she was still a bit groggy. Once she got her bearings, she immediately hurled the pillow behind her across the room.

"Jerk!"

Diana hadn't been drinking the night before, so she woke up clear-headed, but the chaotic and lewd scenes from last night kept replaying in her mind.

She frowned, holding her head, and when she looked down, she saw various kiss marks all over her body, which made her even angrier.

Right now, Diana was the only one in the room. She had nowhere to vent her anger, so she took it out on the blanket, punching it as if it were Charles.

Her stomach growled. Diana hadn't eaten all day and was on the verge of passing out from hunger.

She took a deep breath to calm herself and muttered, "Forget it, just think of it as being bitten by a dog."

Although she hadn't been willing last night, she had to admit she enjoyed it later on.

Charles, that jerk, at least had some decency to clean her up afterward.

Though her body ached a bit, she felt relatively refreshed.

But here she was, with no food and the door locked. Were they trying to starve her to death?

Grumbling and cursing, she opened the tablet on the bedside table and quickly ordered room service.

Before long, there was a knock on the door.

"Room service!"

"Come in." Diana had already dressed and was sitting on the couch, responding loudly.

The room had a keypad lock, which she had tried and failed to open last night.

She had to wait for the staff to come in.

With the beep of the keypad, two attendants pushed a food cart into the room.

The food was abundant and steaming hot.

The two attendants, without looking around, smiled at Diana as soon as they saw her.

"Did you sleep well? Mr. Percy specifically asked us to prepare this for you."

As they spoke, they set the food out one by one.

One of them took a phone out of her pocket and handed it to Diana, saying, "Mr. Percy asked us to give this to you. He said you should call him when you wake up."

Diana frowned as she took the phone. No wonder she couldn't find it earlier; it had been taken to the front desk.

"You can leave now."

Her tone was cold, and she didn't respond further.

But the two attendants exchanged glances and continued, "Please, Ms. Spencer, call him. It's Mr. Percy's request. If you don't cooperate, it will be difficult for us."

"He's not here, is he? What difference does it make if I call or not?"

Diana's expression grew more impatient. She was already annoyed, and now he wanted to control her even when he wasn't around? Dream on!

One of the attendants sighed and replied, "Ms. Spencer, Mr. Percy said if you don't call, he'll come here to see you tonight."

Diana fell silent, holding a sandwich in mid-air, unsure whether to eat it or not.

She hadn't expected Charles to anticipate this. Under the pleading eyes of the attendants, Diana finally gave in.

She took out the phone, scrolled through her contacts, and dialed a number labeled "Lunatic."

At the Percy Group, in the conference room.

Project manager, Eldon Soto, was reporting on the latest project progress, but his expression was grim.

Their team's work had been progressing slowly.

Now, with Charles calling a meeting, there wasn't much to report.

The worst part was, their team had recently made a mistake and had just been scolded.

Having a meeting now was like adding insult to injury.

Eldon silently lit a candle for himself, praying that Charles wouldn't get so angry that he'd fire him.

Not only was he nervous, but the other employees were also on edge.

Today, Charles was acting a bit off.

In previous meetings, he would always ask key questions and oversee the results.

But today, he sat there, staring intently at the document in his hand, as if trying to burn a hole through it with his eyes.

His level of focus was so intense that even when Eldon stumbled over his words three times, it didn't make him look up.

"That's all I have to say. Please, Mr. Percy, give us your guidance."

Eldon finally finished his report, wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, and stood there nervously, awaiting judgment.

But for a long time, no one spoke.

In the conference room, everyone's eyes were on Charles.

He was still staring seriously at that document.

But on closer inspection, it seemed like he was daydreaming?

Everyone was shocked.

Charles, as the boss, was known for his diligence, no less than any regular employee.

People secretly called him a "workaholic."

But today, he was daydreaming in a meeting! This was clearly unusual!

Nolan quickly picked up on this and cleared his throat, taking the initiative to speak.

"Mr. Percy's point is that the project process needs further optimization, and the details need to be handled better."

As Charles's special assistant, Nolan often spoke on his behalf. Now that he had spoken, the others quickly nodded in agreement.

Eldon, who had been tense all day, widened his eyes in surprise at such a light comment.

He felt incredibly lucky. He had thought his career was over!

Suddenly, a piercing phone ring broke the silence in the conference room.

Everyone looked around, searching for the source of the sound.

Who was bold enough to leave their phone on during a meeting?

Under everyone's gaze, Charles finally looked up from the document and took out his phone from his pocket.

When he saw the name on the screen, a barely noticeable smile appeared on his lips.

The next second, he stood up and announced, "The meeting is over."

With that, he left the conference room with his phone.

As soon as he left, the room buzzed with conversation.

"Did Mr. Percy just smile? Am I seeing things?"

Eldon quickly nodded in agreement, "I saw it too. He smiled. My goodness, no wonder he didn't scold me today. He must be in a good mood. Thank God, I hope Mr. Percy stays happy every day."

A group of people prayed for a moment, and a curious one sidled up to Nolan, asking, "Mr. Smith, what good news did Mr. Percy get? He's so happy."

Nolan's expression was like he was constipated, hesitating before he spoke, "I don't know."

He still didn't know what had happened last night.

It couldn't possibly be because of Diana, could it?

Charles walked to his office, answering the call with an unusually gentle voice, "You're awake?"

But on the other end, Diana's tone was furious, "Charles, what do you mean by this? Are you planning to keep me locked up in this dump? Let me go!"

His expression stiffened, and his tone turned harsh, "You called just to say this? Last night we..."

"Last night never happened. I don't care about it." She quickly interrupted before he could finish.

"You told me to call, so I did. What else is there to say between us?"

Hearing Charles mention last night made her even angrier.

But after she vented, there was silence on the other end.

Charles pressed his lips together, his expression darkening, "Last night never happened? You don't care? Diana, do you think I'm that casual? Or does it not matter who it was last night?"

"What else? We don't even count as a one-night stand because there's no emotion involved. Enough, I don't want to talk anymore. You told me to call, I did. Goodbye!"

Diana didn't even care that there were others around her, her tone urgent and sharp.
