Chapter 518 Resurrected Brother
Although it couldn't quite compare to the Percy Group, it had already far surpassed other companies of its size, and it was still growing.
For a moment, everyone looked at Diana with admiration.
Even Nolan's eyes widened in surprise, clearly not expecting Diana to achieve such heights.
He remembered that the Spencer Group had been acquired by a foreign company. How was Diana still in charge?
But then he recalled that Diana had seemingly come back from the dead, and his initial shock was quickly suppressed.
Nolan lightly tapped the table.
"Alright, settle down."
He then gestured for Diana to continue.
"I think we can wrap up the meeting here. If anyone has work to hand over, please give it to the secretary, and I'll handle it. Any objections?"
Diana was eager to end the meeting and avoid further entanglement with this group.
However, Elise wasn't about to give her that chance.
"Ms. Spencer, are you in such a hurry that you're not going to let the other shareholders speak?"
She lifted her chin, and soon a shareholder chimed in.
"Yeah, we haven't finished talking. So what if you can manage another company? The Percy Group isn't a place for you to play house."
"Better step aside and let someone who knows what they're doing take over."
"A woman's place is at home, taking care of her family."
All sorts of derogatory comments filled the room, even making Nolan frown.
'Diana is a woman, but isn't Elise a woman too?' he thought.
He tapped the table again, reminding them, "Everyone, please watch your language."
The shareholders quieted down, and Elise smiled, then said mysteriously, "Actually, I think Ms. Spencer has a point. I haven't been in the business world for a long time."
"But I have someone in mind who is more suitable to manage the company than anyone here."
Everyone exchanged puzzled glances, unsure of whom she was referring to.
The next second, the conference room door opened.
A slender man stepped in.
He wore a navy suit, his face as handsome as a Greek sculpture.
But he had a pair of fox-like eyes, which were now smiling mischievously, making him look even more sinister.
As he entered, the shareholders seemed to freeze, staring at him in shock.
He casually sat next to Elise, and they exchanged a familiar handshake.
Then, he turned to Diana and spoke, "Diana, it's been a long time. How's my brother doing lately?"
Someone in the crowd gasped, "Mr. Zachary Percy?"
"Mr. Zachary Percy? Is it really you? You're alive?"
The shocks of the day kept coming, with one resurrection after another.
Someone pinched themselves to make sure they weren't dreaming, but they still couldn't accept the reality.
Diana frowned slightly, thinking to herself, 'So this is Charles's brother, Zachary?'
She barely remembered him; they had probably only met once, back when the original Diana had visited the company.
At that time, Zachary had been sent abroad by Charles because he couldn't compete with him.
Zachary had tried to return several times but was always thwarted.
It was said he had died in Horizonia, and there was even a press conference to handle his affairs.
It was at that press conference that her identity had been exposed.
Now he was back, and the situation felt all too familiar to Diana.
After all, she had also faked her death to escape.
"Everyone, it really is me. It's been a long time."
Zachary rested a hand on the table, tapping it lightly, then continued, "I know my return is surprising to many, but with my dear brother in trouble, I have to take responsibility."
"As for how I survived, it's a long story. If you're interested, you can ask me privately."
He winked and turned to Diana.
"Diana, how's my brother doing in the hospital? Is he still alive? I heard it was an explosion, so he must be unrecognizable by now."
There was no concern in his voice, only schadenfreude.
"That's none of your business, and we're not close."
Diana shot him a glare, but Zachary wasn't offended. Instead, he smiled even more brightly.
"Diana, don't say that. After all, we're family. If my brother dies, I'll have to take care of you."
He emphasized the word "family," looking at Diana with a mocking gaze.
Nolan's brow furrowed deeply; this scene was clearly unexpected.
But he quickly connected the dots, realizing that the specifics of Charles's injury hadn't been disclosed. How could Zachary be so sure it was an explosion?
Unless he had orchestrated it.
Before Nolan could think further, Diana spoke up.
"Today's shareholders' meeting is to discuss who will manage the company next, not for you to spout nonsense."
She paused for a moment, then asked Elise, "Is this your best candidate?"
"Of course. My son is alive and has experience managing the company. He's a Percy family member, which is more than some people can say."
Elise sneered, having waited a long time for this day.
The shareholders exchanged hesitant glances, then began whispering among themselves.
At Elise's signal, someone said, "Mr. Zachary Percy is Mr. Charles Percy's brother and knows the company. I think he's the best choice to manage it."
But before Diana could respond, an elderly shareholder with graying hair spoke up, "Although Mr. Zachary Percy is a Percy family member, he was declared dead. Legally, his inheritance rights need to be reestablished."
"Mr. Davis is right," a middle-aged woman agreed. "And Charles has a wife..."
"Wife?" Zachary smirked.
"Speaking of which, the company was my father's legacy. My mother was his wife too. Doesn't that mean my mother has more right than Diana?"
The discussion circled back to the starting point.
The conference room buzzed with chatter. Diana clenched her fists, glanced at Zachary, and then spoke, "Everyone."
Her voice wasn't loud, but it silenced the room.
"My marriage to Charles is well-known. A few years ago, I was injured in an accident and secretly recuperated abroad until now."
"Our marriage was sanctioned by Mrs. Juniper Percy herself. Whether I have the right or belong to the Percy family, you all know the answer."
"As for concerns about my ability to manage the Percy Group, there's no need to worry. I have an MBA from Celestial University and worked as an investment banking analyst on Financial Street."
"While I haven't directly managed the Percy Group, Charles discussed company decisions with me every night."
She looked each shareholder in the eye.
"I know Mr. Davis's shipping division's profit margin dropped by 3% last year, and Mr. Russell's tech subsidiary is preparing for an IPO."
"Do I need to continue?"
