Chapter 259 Breach of contract

Billy stood there, his face a mask of indifference. But upon closer look, one would notice his hand hanging by his side was tightly clenched, knuckles white and slightly trembling.

He didn't want to use his marriage as a weapon against the Percy Group, but they were a formidable opponent.

The previous skirmishes were just child's play. Once he fully engaged, the entire Richardson Group was powerless.

Facing Vance's furious outburst, he responded coolly, "Even if it means going bankrupt, I won't gamble my future."

To Billy, marriage was a significant part of life. His moral compass wouldn't allow him to have an affair after marriage, and he didn't want to marry a woman he didn't love and spend his life with her. No matter how much Vance tried to persuade him, he remained unmoved.

"You! Are you trying to drive me to my grave? You've gone mad over that woman!" Vance clutched his chest, struggling to catch his breath.

Their argument was overheard by Diana. She looked serious and spoke up, "Have you been suppressing the Richardson family? Billy hasn't done anything wrong."

Charles had been cutting his steak with elegant precision, slicing it into bite-sized pieces.

Hearing Diana's words, he paused, then switched their plates, placing the cut steak in front of her.

He was in a good mood tonight; it was their first time dining out together. Although Diana occasionally had a temper, she was relatively obedient.

But now, there was always some "pest" disrupting their moment of peace.

A cold smile played on his lips, his tone icy, "Do you care that much?"

"He's my friend. You can't treat him like this. The Richardson family isn't a threat to you." Diana's righteous indignation made it impossible for her to eat, knowing innocent people were suffering because of her.

Charles put down his knife and fork, his gaze turning dangerous.

She claimed she and Billy were just friends, but those hugs and intimate gestures were hardly platonic. What he couldn't tolerate was Billy's audacity. When Billy came to claim Charles' child, he didn't back down.

Charles scoffed, his voice sharp, "You once said the child you're carrying is his. How did you enchant your little lover so much that he'd even steal someone else's child?"

Diana was at a loss for words, Charles' words cutting deep. She and Billy weren't friends, but she couldn't worry about that now.

Pressing her lips together, she spoke, "Charles, let's talk. What do I have to do for you to leave Billy alone?"

"Leave him alone?" Seeing her willing to go to such lengths for another man, jealousy flared in Charles' heart. He retorted, "Is Evelyn not worth negotiating for?"

Diana frowned, "That's different."

To Charles, Evelyn was just a servant. But his malice towards Billy had clearly crossed a line; he intended to destroy the Richardson family.

"What's different? You can't forget him. Even if you're with me, you're still thinking about him. I should lock you up, tie you to the bed, and make sure you only see me."

His voice was urgent and quick, the thought of imprisoning her making his hair stand on end with excitement.

Diana was terrified by the madness in his eyes, her heart pounding as she forced herself to speak, "We're not together. This is just a transaction. Mr. Percy, we signed an agreement."

"Yes, we signed an agreement." He slowly repeated her words, the terms of the agreement clear in his mind. After she gave birth, she was to leave Evergreen City and never appear before him again.

Charles' face darkened, and after a long silence, he spoke, "I've changed my mind."

Diana's pupils contracted, angered by his shamelessness.

Behind him, Vance had left, leaving Billy alone at the table. His hair and chest were soaked, his eyes red and downcast, looking utterly dejected.

Diana's heart ached, and she gritted her teeth, "If you're breaking the agreement, then I have no reason to follow it either. Charles, do you think the world should revolve around you?"

Breaking the agreement, huh? Then no one would have it easy. She picked up a knife and pressed it to her neck, threatening, "The neck is the most vulnerable part of the body. Just below here is the carotid artery. The blood spray will be quite a sight. Mr. Percy, you might want to take a picture as a memento."

She pressed the knife harder, the sharp blade piercing her skin, blood oozing out and staining her sweater.

Charles' expression froze. The table kept them too far apart for him to grab the knife in time. And their corner position meant that if he called for help, Diana would likely slit her throat immediately.

She narrowed her eyes, pressing the knife harder against her skin. She had already avenged herself against the Williams family scum, though it wasn't perfect. But dying now wouldn't be a loss.

Blood soaked her collar, and as she spoke, it flowed faster. "Mr. Percy, I'm a lunatic too. Have you forgotten that because I've been too compliant? If living means being constantly restricted, then I'd rather die and spare you the trouble."

Threatening her with Evelyn, she could compromise. But using Billy to threaten her, compromising again would mean being perpetually oppressed. She wouldn't allow that.

"Stop, I agree!" Charles' voice was laced with anger, but in the end, Diana won.

But this time, she wasn't easily placated, saying, "Since you can break the agreement, there's no need for any more deals. I'll watch with my own eyes. If the Richardson Group continues to be maliciously suppressed, then say goodbye to this child."

Even a rabbit will bite when cornered, let alone Diana, who wasn't a delicate rabbit. She put down the knife, letting the blood flow.

Charles' heart pounded as he called for a waiter. The staff were shocked by the bloody scene and quickly called an ambulance.

Charles, his face cold, pressed a hand to her neck, untying his tie to use as a tourniquet, performing first aid with precision.

Billy, who had been sitting with his head down, looked up at the commotion.

But Diana was surrounded by people, and he couldn't see anything. After a moment, he left the restaurant, wiping the water from his hair.

Diana's lips were pale from blood loss, and Charles' clothes were stained with her blood, his face tense, eyes filled with a desire to imprison her forever. He held her hand tightly, afraid she'd escape.

At the hospital, Diana's wound was bandaged. The doctor sternly advised Charles to monitor her emotional and mental state during pregnancy.

Charles nodded silently, returning to the room to find Diana smiling victoriously. It infuriated him.

Charles grabbed her cheek, pulling it harshly, his tone menacing, "If you do this again, your friends will join you in death."

Diana nodded obediently. Charles was similar to her in some ways; he couldn't be pushed too far, or he'd do anything.

She took his hand, saying, "As long as you keep your word, I'll behave. After the baby is born, I'll disappear from this city."
