Chapter 329 Kidnapping

Diana finally snapped out of it after Charles' words. She blinked, no longer crying, and whispered, "Don't ask again."

Seeing her calm down, Charles sighed in relief and softly agreed, "Okay."

Diana was like a fragile creature now, untouchable and unscoldable. The slightest thing would break her.

Despite the pain in his lower abdomen, he pretended it didn't exist and held her to ease his desire.

Once Diana regained her composure, she realized they had both abruptly left the party without saying goodbye. It might have been rude.

She pushed against Charles' chest to create some distance and said, "We left without a word. What about the party?"

Charles frowned and replied in a low voice, "What about it? It's their engagement, not ours. Besides, I left. Are they going to drag me back?"

Honestly, just showing up at the party was a huge sign of respect for the Richardson family.

If he had to stay the whole time, fake-smiling and giving blessings, he wouldn't be Charles.

But since the topic came up, he looked down at her again and said, "Once we get off the ship, let's get remarried, okay?"

His tone was part pleading, but mostly firm.

Diana, still in his arms with red eyes, fell into deep thought at his words.

"It's a simple question. Just say 'yes,'" Charles urged when she didn't respond.

Diana looked up, her lashes still wet with tears, and said softly, "Can I say no?"

Charles gritted his teeth and pinched her cheek lightly, "No."

Even if she didn't want to, they could deal with it after the remarriage. Right now, being divorced made him feel like every man was eyeing her.

If she still had the same heart for him as before, it wouldn't matter.

But now, the passion was gone, and with the loss of their child, their only connection was severed. It made him feel incredibly insecure.

He needed to remarry her, to have that legal bond to feel even a bit at ease.

Perhaps because of his insistence, Diana removed his hand from her cheek and whispered, "Okay."

Her voice was so soft that Charles couldn't hear clearly. He asked, "What did you say?"

Diana frowned and raised her voice, "I said okay. Are you deaf?"

She turned her head, trying to get out of his embrace.

This time, Charles heard her clearly. His heart raced, and a smile broke out on his usually cold face.

'She agreed. Does this mean she's close to forgiving me?'

Thinking this, he pulled Diana back into his arms and kissed her hard.

His eyes burned with intensity, almost scorching holes into her, "Great. I'll give you another wedding. What kind do you want? Domestic or abroad? Traditional or destination?"

"What color dress? Pink? White? We need wedding photos too. Do you like ships? We can have an even grander one."

Diana, held tightly, listened to Charles' rambling.

He didn't seem to care if she answered, just kept talking. It was the first time Diana realized Charles could be so talkative.

Annoyed, she pushed him away, "You're so annoying. I'm starving. I need food."

Charles paused, remembering she hadn't eaten anything at the party. It made sense she was hungry now.

He got out of bed, giving her a quick kiss on the lips before leaving, "I'll get you something to eat. Stay here and be good."

Diana wiped her mouth in disgust and rolled her eyes, ignoring his affection.

Anyone could see she was annoyed, but Charles found it cute. He chuckled, patted her head, and left the room.

As soon as he left, the phone by the bed rang.

Diana picked it up and saw it was Dean. Instantly, her heart was filled with alarm.

Dean was usually calm and waited for her to contact him. He wouldn't call like this unless it was urgent.

Her eyes narrowed as she glanced at the closed door.

She locked the door and answered, "What's wrong?"

Dean's voice was urgent, "Run! She's right outside!"

As he spoke, the door lock clicked.

Diana forced herself to stay calm, "It's okay. I can handle it. Don't worry."

Her voice trembled, unsure if she was reassuring Dean or herself.

"Sophia, stall her. Block the door with something heavy. I'll be there soon."

Dean didn't dare follow their plan. Today's situation was unexpected.

If they made one wrong move, it could mean the end for both Diana and the baby.

"Dean! Don't come! That's an order! Do as I say."

Dean took a deep breath, trying to calm himself.

"Okay, we'll do it your way."

Diana held the door handle, trying to slow Clara's entry.

They exchanged a few hurried words before ending the call, and Diana slipped her phone into her pocket.

She let go of the handle and sat on the couch.

When Clara entered, she saw Diana sitting there, a fiery red dress making her look fierce.

Her hair cascaded down her back, and her eyes were proud, as if she had expected Clara.

Clara felt a pang of guilt but quickly remembered her purpose and glared.

"Diana, surprised to see me?"

She held a knife, its blade glinting menacingly.

Diana frowned, not out of fear, but because she felt that if she kept talking to Clara, Charles would be back soon.

She looked at Clara disdainfully, "Who are you trying to scare with that knife? Charles will be back any minute. You should leave."

Clara, reminded of the urgency, grew angrier. She tried to grab Diana's dress but ended up grabbing her arm.

The knife pressed against Diana's neck. She remained calm, not resisting, "You dare kidnap me? Charles won't let you get away with this!"

Clara, blinded by rage, didn't notice Diana's lack of struggle and dragged her out.

The hallway was empty as everyone was at the party.

Diana was yanked a couple of times, nearly stumbling, and had to negotiate, "Let go. I'll go with you."
