Chapter 51 Slap

In the Percy Group's President's Office, Charles quickly skimmed through the proposal in his hand. If one of his employees had handed him this, he would've fired them on the spot. But this document came from Diana, who was standing a few feet away, looking a bit nervous.

Diana had planned to head straight home today, but after getting Isolde's document, she remembered the awkward scene at Mirage Nights Club a few days ago.

With Isolde now running the Porter Group, it was clear they'd have to work with the Percy Group sooner or later. So, she figured it was better to use this proposal to create a win-win situation now.

Diana shared her idea with Isolde, who was on board right away. The proposal was originally aimed at collaborating with the Spencer Group, and Isolde wanted to revise it.

But Diana insisted there was no need; Charles only cared about results. If he didn't like it, it wouldn't matter how polished it was. So, Diana made a few tweaks, even highlighting some parts.

Even though it was a bit rough, Charles could tell the proposal was solid. He glanced at Diana, finding her hard to read. "Did you make this proposal?"

Diana had never done this kind of work before. If she had, Charles would have to see her in a new light.

But Diana shook her head. "No, I'm just the middleman this time." Her response surprised everyone, even Nolan beside her.

The old Diana would've jumped at the chance to take credit and get closer to Charles. But now, she had a determined look in her eyes, no hidden agenda, and spoke calmly and respectfully.

"Mr. Percy, about that night at the bar. Ms. Porter and I ruined your evening, and we're truly sorry. As I mentioned then, once Ms. Porter took over the Porter Group, she would be willing to continue the unfinished collaboration with the Percy Group. So this is her proposal. If you're interested, the Porter Group is open to discussing further cooperation with the Percy Group." Diana's words were formal, making her sound like a representative of the Porter Group.

Charles tossed the document onto the table, looking unimpressed. "What makes you so sure I'd want to collaborate with your friend? There are plenty of people out there begging to work with me. Do you think I'd be interested in a proposal like this from the Porter Group?"

Diana had come to deliver the proposal to help Isolde. If it worked out, great for the Porter Group; if not, at least it would show she hadn't followed him to Mirage Nights Club that day. So, whether the collaboration succeeded or not, Diana had nothing to lose.

Seeing Charles's reluctance, Diana stayed calm. If he wasn't interested, she had nothing more to say. She stepped forward and extended her hand. "Since Mr. Percy isn't interested, I apologize for my presumptuousness. Please return the document to me."

Charles's expression froze for a moment, not expecting Diana to accept it so easily. Nolan could see that Charles was just being stubborn. If he really didn't want to collaborate, he would've told Diana to leave.

So Nolan found a way to smooth things over. "Mr. Percy, the Porter Group may not be as robust as us, but they're really keen on teaming up. Maybe we should give it a shot, considering their enthusiasm."

Diana was puzzled. 'Since when does Nolan talk so much? And dare to tell Charles what to do?'

But Charles, hearing this, actually picked up the document again, looking Diana straight in the eyes. "Since you all are so eager for my collaboration, I will reluctantly accept. Head back, fine-tune this proposal, and submit it to me as soon as possible."

Nolan, seeing Charles say this, knew that Charles was no longer angry. He breathed a sigh of relief; the company really couldn't do without him.

Diana was utterly baffled. 'When had I ever begged him? If he didn't want to collaborate, then don't!' she thought.

But she didn't say any of this out loud, only looking at Charles and Nolan with an indescribable expression.

Nolan continued, "Ms. Spencer, not just anyone can collaborate with the Percy Group. You should cherish this opportunity."

Both of them were staring at Diana, as if she wouldn't be able to leave the room today if she didn't agree.

Fortunately, Diana knew that Charles was a capricious man. So she showed no extra emotion, stepped forward to take back the proposal, and said very politely, "Alright, if there's nothing else, I'll be leaving now. Goodbye, Mr. Percy."

Diana quickly left the President's Office, not wanting to stay any longer, but she unexpectedly ran into Clara at the corner, whom she hadn't seen in a long time.

Clara was very angry, having rushed over from the Spencer Group, ready to complain to Charles, but unexpectedly ran into Diana here.

Seeing the President's Office not far away, Clara suddenly understood. So this bitch Diana had been so mysterious all the time because she was sneaking over to the Percy Group to seduce Charles while she wasn't around!

Clara was furious and stepped forward to slap Diana. Diana didn't react in time and couldn't dodge, taking a solid slap that made her face hurt. But she wasn't one to suffer losses, so she slapped back, even harder than Clara.

Clara's meticulously styled hair was disheveled, messily sticking to the side of her face. "Bitch! How dare you hit me!" Clara's voice was sharp, not expecting Diana to fight back.

She lunged at Diana, trying to strangle her, but Diana grabbed her hair, feeling like her scalp was being torn off.

Diana frowned and threw her aside. "I should be the one saying that. How dare you hit me?"

The memory of those slaps during the divorce resurfaced. It seemed that Clara had come today to let her take revenge.

So Diana took two steps forward, grabbed Clara's neck, her voice chilling, "Is this what you want? I've warned you countless times, don't test me, or I'll make you regret it a hundredfold, a thousandfold." With that, Diana slapped her again, her hand going numb, but her mood was exceptionally good.

Clara was no match for her in strength, kicking and struggling desperately. "Let go of me, this is the Percy Group!"

Hearing this, Diana became even more excited. She pinned Clara to the ground. Putting her full weight on her, she slapped her left and right, one after another, her tone full of malice. "Scream! Keep screaming! Aren't you so tough? Clara! Even if this were your home, in front of your parents, I would still beat you up."

Clara was beaten so badly by Diana that she couldn't fight back, initially cursing. But it hurt so much that she could only cry.

But Diana had no time for pity. When she was beaten back then, Clara should have known this day would come for her too.

Diana's violent emotions surged, and she raised her hand to slap again, but it was caught in mid-air. The scent of wood filled her nostrils.

Charles looked at Diana with a dark expression, gripping her hand as if he was going to break her wrist. "Diana, what do you think the Percy Group is!"
