Chapter 306 Coaxing

Diana's heart was pounding like crazy. She felt an arm wrap around her waist, and her mind went blank as Charles helped her to her feet.

He moved quickly, making sure she was steady before pulling his hand back, his expression cold.

"So, you can throw yourself at someone you hate? You're really something else."

Diana's excitement was doused with a bucket of cold water, and her expression turned icy.

She had clearly been startled and lost her balance. What did he mean by saying she did it on purpose?

But remembering her current situation, she bit her lip and suppressed her emotions, explaining, "Sorry, I just lost my balance. It wasn't intentional."

Charles knew the real reason, but her explanation only made him angrier.

He walked around her with a cold expression, taking off his coat.

Diana was stunned by his complete disregard for her.

The next second, she cautiously approached him, trying to make small talk.

"How was work today?"

"Are you tired?"

"Did you eat?"

She chattered on, but Charles remained silent.

Out of her sight, a fleeting smile appeared on his lips before he quickly suppressed it, his tone indifferent.

"Do you need something?"

Diana hesitated, then said, "I want my phone. I'm so bored here."

So, in the end, she just wanted to contact someone else. When he first came back, she was like a kitten, her eyes full of him, rubbing against him.

Now she couldn't keep up the act and revealed her true nature.

Charles averted his gaze and continued to loosen his tie.

"There's nothing left to say between us. You have no right to make demands."

With that, he turned and headed to the bathroom, not giving Diana a chance to continue.

The bathroom door closed, separating them. Diana couldn't keep up the pretense any longer and made a face at the door.

'Damn it, if it weren't for the bigger picture, I'd really want to have a fight with Charles,' she thought to herself.

If he died, she'd win.

If she died, she'd be free.

It wouldn't be as frustrating as this.

Despite her anger, Diana held it in. When Charles came out of the shower, he saw her holding a glass of water with both hands, offering it to him.

He raised an eyebrow and took the glass, sipping it slightly.

Seeing him accept it, Diana continued to curry favor, massaging his shoulders and back like a dutiful little wife.

After a while, Charles felt a stir in his heart and pulled her into his lap from behind.

Diana fell into his arms, her expression dazed for a moment before she skillfully wrapped her arms around his neck, her voice sweet.

"I was wrong. I won't see him again. I won't go out. At least let me out of the room, okay? There's only a TV here, it's so boring."

She even pressed her red lips to his cheek, leaving a kiss.

Charles' Adam's apple bobbed, the spot where she kissed him feeling hot.

But he didn't give in. He knew Diana was only doing this to cause trouble.

If he agreed, she'd go back to doing things that drove him crazy.

Now that the Richardson Group had announced Billy's engagement, and Vance had, rather diplomatically, sent him an invitation.

No matter the reason for her last meeting with Billy, he wouldn't let Diana out before Billy's engagement.

So, despite Diana's efforts, Charles remained as composed as a monk, unmoved.

He pried her hands off his neck and moved her aside, his face showing a hint of arrogance.

"Don't even think about it."

With that, he got up and went to his desk to continue working.

Diana was left stunned by his coldness.

What? Was she really that unattractive now? Who was he pretending for? It was like he wasn't the one who had pinned her to the bed and made love to her before.

Fuming, she slapped the bed and cranked up the TV volume to the max.

The room was filled with loud noise.

'Wasn't he going to work? Let's see how he works now!'

Charles' hand shook as he held the mouse. He had only come to the desk to put on a show.

He didn't expect Diana to lose her temper so quickly and reveal her true nature.

But she overlooked the fact that the desk was far from the TV. Charles could hear it, but it was still bearable.

On the other hand, Diana couldn't watch or sleep with the noise.

She didn't last long before she turned off the TV and climbed into bed, wrapping herself in the covers.

The room fell silent, with only the sound of Charles clicking the mouse.

But he didn't keep up the act for long. He shut down the computer and walked to the bed.

Diana wasn't asleep yet. Seeing him approach, she peeked out from under the covers.

Charles ignored her gaze and lifted the covers to lie down on the edge of the bed.

Unlike their previous intimate sleeping arrangements, there was now enough space between them for two people.

He closed his eyes, pretending to sleep.

Beside him, Diana slowly moved closer, wrapping her arms around his.

Charles found it amusing but didn't show it. He opened his eyes and turned to face her, both lying on their sides.

"What are you doing? Accidentally getting close again?"

His voice was low and serious.

Diana, startled, shrank back and whispered, "This time, it's on purpose."

From Charles' angle, her cheek was slightly squished, making her look adorable. But he kept his face stern.

"So?"

"Is there really no room for negotiation? You can't keep me locked up forever."

Diana's eyes were determined. She knew Charles was angry now, but if she could appease him, she might have a chance to get out.

Charles took in her expression, his eyes deep.

If he wanted, he could keep her locked up forever.

But if Diana knew his thoughts, she'd probably cause a huge scene, possibly even threatening to take her own life.

Thinking this, he lowered his lashes, his gaze falling on her pink lips.

"Please me, make me happy, and I'll let you out."

Diana froze. His eyes were full of suggestion, clear to anyone.

She fumed inside. Just now, he was pretending to be a monk, and now he couldn't hold back his true nature.

'Pervert! Lecher!' She cursed him silently, letting go of his hand.

She quickly put distance between them, turning her back to him, refusing to beg.

She'd rather die, jump out of here, than please him!

Charles remained calm, closing his eyes to rest.

He had all the time in the world to wait her out.

For two days, Diana was confined to the room like a prisoner.

Only at night, when Charles returned, could she talk to someone.

But Charles' attitude remained unchanged. He was serious about this "punishment" and had no intention of forgiving Diana easily.

On the third day, Charles opened the door as usual.

To his surprise, the room was pitch black. Diana, who usually watched TV waiting for him, was nowhere to be seen.

He frowned. Tessa had said everything was normal today, so Diana should still be in the room.

As he thought this, Charles took a few steps forward, reaching for the light switch.

Suddenly, someone grabbed his arm, and a soft body pressed against him.

Before he could react, his lips were captured in a sweet kiss.
