Chapter 38 Clara's Assistant

When Diana showed up at the company, Coralie and her crew were already hanging around. There wasn't any real work to do today; they were just there to greet the new boss. So, the second Diana walked in, everyone turned their heads to see what the fuss was about.

Coralie was taken aback by how stunning Remy's assistant was. Even though Diana's clothes and hairstyle were pretty basic, and she wasn't wearing any makeup, she still looked amazing. With her hair tied back and a backpack slung over her shoulder, Diana looked like she just stepped out of a campus drama.

Coralie couldn't help but say, "Are there appearance standards for being Ms. Wipere's assistants? You're so beautiful, it's a shame you're not a star."

Diana smiled politely and said, "Thank you," then followed Coralie to the office. Since she was an internal referral, Diana didn't have to go through any of the usual onboarding stuff.

Coralie clapped her hands to get everyone's attention. "Alright, everyone, take a break from your work and welcome our new colleague. One of the new managers is on a business trip, so Diana here will handle some work records until she gets back."

Coralie paused and then said, "Go introduce yourself."

Diana stepped up and introduced herself, "Hey everyone, I'm Diana from the Percy Group. Looking forward to working with you all."

Everyone clapped and cheered. Some even complimented Diana on her looks and offered to help if she needed anything. Diana nodded and smiled at each of them before quietly taking her seat.

As things settled down, their private work chat group buzzed with activity.

Calliope: [This intern is too beautiful; I thought she was a celebrity. How did they find such a pretty intern?]

Coralie: [Since she got into the Percy Group, she must be really capable. Everyone, watch what you say.]

Axel: [She looks so young. Just graduated and already in the Percy Group. Mr. Percy must be living the dream.]

After Axel sent that message, a few male colleagues exchanged knowing glances. In the workplace, overly beautiful women were always under scrutiny. The only thing that could shut them up was solid competence.

Coralie warned them again in the group, but she couldn't help feeling a bit disdainful herself.

Although Diana should have been working, she was just waiting for Clara, taking a gamble on whether Clara would expose her identity, as only Clara knew her here.

If Clara exposed her, all her efforts would be wasted. But knowing Clara, if she saw Diana pretending to be an intern, she'd definitely take the chance to step on her. So Diana decided to wait downstairs.

It was her first time waiting for Clara to come and mock her, so Diana found it kind of amusing. She waited downstairs for almost two hours before she finally saw Clara step out of a luxury car. Clara's outfit was the complete opposite of Diana's.

Clara had her hair curled and wore a burgundy mermaid dress with a black shawl, looking super elegant. Her makeup was as elaborate as if she were attending a gala.

As soon as Clara got out of the car, she spotted the unmade-up Diana and strutted over in her high heels to mock her. "Diana, you look more like a college student than a boss today. But we all know you've never really put in a day's work, so it's no surprise you don't get workplace attire."

Diana put on an annoyed face. "What do you know? The book says bosses should start from the bottom. I gotta kick it off as an intern to really get the hang of running this place."

Clara smirked inwardly, 'Diana is such a fool, still following the book even after entering the workplace. Blending in with the employees? Ridiculous.'

But since Diana wanted to play pretend, Clara would let her. So Clara said, "Diana, you're amazing, willing to start from the bottom. Unlike me, born to be a boss."

Diana clenched her fists, clearly provoked. "Just you wait and see!" she snapped before storming off, making Clara even more pleased.

But Clara didn't notice Diana's smirk as she walked away, thinking, 'Got her.'

When Clara strutted in, she immediately started putting on airs. Everyone flocked around her, showering her with compliments, making it way livelier than when Diana arrived.

Clara kept up her gentle facade. "Thank you, everyone. The Spencer Group wouldn't be where it is today without your hard work. Keep giving it your all!"

Then, looking troubled, Clara said, "Although my dad used to run the company, I'm still not very familiar with it. Coralie, can you assign me an assistant?"

Axel, standing nearby, jumped at the chance. "Ms. Williams, hello, I'm Axel. I've been with the company for two years and know the business inside out. Let me be your assistant."

Clara already had someone in mind, so she naturally wouldn't agree. She pointed in a direction, and everyone followed her finger. It was Diana, who was busy with something and not paying attention to the commotion.

Seeing Clara point to a newcomer, Axel stepped forward again. "Ms. Williams, she's new too. She doesn't know the company; let me do it!"

Clara ignored him, and everyone stared at Diana. Diana didn't even stand up; she just turned around. "Ms. Williams, the company sent me to record work, not to be your assistant."

Diana's tone was full of resistance, which only made Clara more excited. 'Diana, you want to start from the bottom, right? Then enjoy being bullied,' Clara thought.

"Since the company sent you, you have to listen to me. Otherwise, I don't mind calling your boss over," Clara warned. Her meaning was clear: if Diana didn't listen, she wouldn't hesitate to expose her identity.

Diana made an impatient face but had to agree, "Sorry, Ms. Williams. I understand."

Axel, seeing his ideal position taken by Diana, was unhappy. 'What else does Diana have besides her looks? She must have gotten into the Percy Group because of her looks, maybe even seducing the female boss,' Axel cursed inwardly.

He admitted he was also attracted to Diana's looks, but he cared more about his future than women. So, with Clara's instigation, Diana inexplicably became Axel's target.

Clara was very satisfied with the current situation and turned to follow Coralie into her exclusive office. Although the office wasn't as big as Charles's, it was still very grand. Clara sat in the chair, enjoying her moment as the boss. She hadn't come with any plans for the company. If she had to do everything herself, what's the use of the employees?

But Clara had thought of a way to fix Diana. She turned to Coralie, who was about to leave, and said, "Call my assistant in."
