Chapter 122 Vance's Warning
Diana clenched her fists, her teeth grinding. She wasn't scared of Charles; she could fight him if she had to.
But she had too much to lose now. Any move could ruin the lives of those she cared about.
"Hey, come out for dinner in an hour. If you wanna starve, that's on you, but don't let my kid go hungry," Charles said, glancing at his watch.
It had been a hell of a day. He hadn't eaten a thing, and Diana was just as famished.
Diana's stomach was empty, but she had zero appetite. She just looked at Charles without moving. "I'm not hungry. I need to rest."
"Don't make me repeat myself. Even if you're not hungry, you need to eat," Charles said sternly, then turned and left the room.
Diana clutched the blanket, her knuckles turning white. She couldn't let herself be controlled like this. If this kept up, she'd be nothing more than a breeding tool.
But for now, she had no choice but to comply.
It was late at night, but the Richardson Mansion was lit up like a Christmas tree.
A bunch of servants were bustling around, occasionally glancing at Billy, who was kneeling at the door.
Since Charles brought Billy back today, Vance had found out the whole story. In his rage, he not only beat Billy but also made him kneel at the door, not caring about his dignity.
The servants walked back and forth, watching Billy in his miserable state.
The butler cautiously approached Billy, his tone gentle. "Mr. Billy Richardson, why don't you apologize to Mr. Vance Richardson? You're already hurt; if you keep kneeling, your body won't hold up."
Billy didn't even lift an eyelid at his words.
Vance had joined the military when he was young and was very skilled. After this beating, Billy found it painful even to breathe.
But this wasn't the first time. Billy gritted his teeth and endured it without making a sound.
In the study, Vance was furious, sweeping all the documents off the table for the first time. His eyes were red, and he was breathing heavily. "That bastard! How dare he provoke Charles!"
An assistant carefully picked up the documents from the floor, choosing his words cautiously. "Mr. Billy Richardson is young and impulsive. It's natural for him to be attracted to a pretty girl."
"He's my son! For a woman, he's going against the Percy Group! The company's development is now at a standstill. How can I trust him with the Richardson Group?" Vance sat back in his chair and slammed his cup on the table.
The assistant flinched but mustered the courage to speak, "The issue lies with that woman. Why not just get rid of..."
"Absolutely not," Vance interrupted before he could finish, "That's Charles' woman. Do you want to mess with her? Do you think the Richardson Group hasn't suffered enough?"
The assistant wisely kept quiet, listening as Vance continued, "Billy is not young anymore. His mother passed away early. As his father, I should see him married soon. Get me some profiles of suitable girls, and I'll take a look."
"Should we let Mr. Billy Richardson know?" The assistant asked softly.
"No need. Do as I say!" Vance snorted coldly, then remembered Billy kneeling downstairs. He changed his tone. "Is he still kneeling downstairs?"
"Yes."
"Let him get up. The point was to teach him a lesson, not to make me look cruel."
The assistant nodded and respectfully left. As he went downstairs, he saw the butler handing Billy some water.
Seeing the assistant, the butler almost spilled the water in his nervousness and quickly explained, "I took it upon myself to give Mr. Billy Richardson some water. He hasn't had a sip!"
In the past, servants who felt sorry for Billy would help him when he was punished. But Vance hated such behavior and often added to the punishment.
"It's fine. Mr. Vance Richardson sent me down," the assistant said, waving at the butler to calm him down.
He turned to Billy. "Mr. Billy Richardson, you can get up now. Please don't anger Mr. Vance Richardson again. There are plenty of women out there. With your status, you can have anyone you want. Why be fixated on one?"
Billy stood up with the butler's help, his expression icy. "You people who only care about benefits know nothing about feelings. Don't use my father to lecture me. I want to see how long he can control me."
Billy's last words clearly wished for Vance's death, shocking the butler and assistant.
"Mr. Billy Richardson, you mustn't say that. Mr. Vance Richardson is doing this for your own good," the butler said anxiously, worried someone might overhear.
Billy pulled his arm away from the butler and said coldly, "If you think his controlling nature is good for me, then whoever wants to be his son can go ahead."
With that, Billy straightened up and limped towards the door.
It was already very late, and the butler couldn't help but call out, "Mr. Billy Richardson, why don't you stay at the Richardson Mansion tonight?"
Billy didn't look back. He would rather crawl out of the Richardson estate than spend another suffocating moment there.
At the Percy Mansion, Charles and Diana were dining at the same table, which was a rare occurrence. The servants had mixed expressions, unsure of how to treat Diana.
Especially those who had targeted Diana before, they all shrank to the edges, afraid of being noticed by her.
The butler had said that Diana was now pregnant, and her status had changed. Even if they didn't respect her, they had to respect the kid in her womb.
The food in front of them was all specially prepared by a nutritionist. It looked very healthy but wasn't very appetizing. Diana, lacking interest, put down her utensils after a few bites.
Seeing Diana eat so little, Charles felt a surge of displeasure. "Eat more. Are you trying to get my attention by starving yourself?"
"Don't worry, I value my life more than you think. Mr. Percy, don't you find this food unbearable?" Diana spoke honestly.
She was used to Evelyn's cooking, feeling the nutritionist's food was truly unappetizing.
Charles paused at her words, his gaze falling on Jacob. "Jacob, replace the nutritionist."
Jacob didn't expect Charles to actually change the nutritionist for Diana's taste. He felt a surge of warmth. 'Charles is finally learning to care for someone. Maybe the two might reconcile in the future.'
"Alright, I'll find someone new later. Ms. Spencer, please bear with this for now. Or if there's something else you'd like, I can have it brought to you," Jacob said.
Diana had only meant to complain and didn't want to trouble the servants, so she waved it off. "No need. I'll just eat a little."
With that, Diana picked up her utensils and started eating again.
Charles' eyes darkened, not understanding why Diana was so unpredictable.
After dinner, it was already 8 PM. Diana was exhausted and didn't interact much with Charles. She quickly washed up and went to her room.
Once she was sure no one would disturb her, Diana logged onto the Dark Web.
Diana's current predicament was entirely due to Nathan and his group. Now that Diana had lost her freedom, she needed to get some payback from them.
