Chapter 167 Invitation

Diana crashed into bed and was out like a light.

But it wasn't a restful sleep. She drifted in and out, caught in weird dreams. In one, she tried to pinch herself awake but couldn't.

It wasn't until she heard Evelyn's soft voice that she snapped out of it, drenched in sweat.

Evelyn looked worried when she saw Diana's pale face. "Ms. Spencer, are you okay? Bad dream?"

Diana shook her head and leaned back against the headboard. "I'm fine. What time is it?"

"It's 7 PM. You've been out for four hours," Evelyn said, glancing at the clock. "Oh, and Robert called an hour ago. I didn't wake you."

"Why wake me now?" Diana asked, reaching for her phone.

"Dinner, of course. Nothing's more important than eating," Evelyn said proudly. She'd cooked up a storm today.

Diana nodded. "I'll be down in a minute."

She started scrolling through messages from Robert. He mentioned the Spencer Group was in trouble and asked her to visit when she could.

Diana thought for a second and replied: [Okay.]

She'd already gotten the shares back from Charles. Once Clara was out of the company, things would be easier. She had the freedom to travel now, so a visit to the Spencer Group wouldn't hurt.

Besides Robert's message, there was a friend request on her phone. Diana clicked on it and saw a cute cartoon avatar.

The verification message read: [I am Sabrina.]

Diana raised an eyebrow, a bit surprised. They'd parted ways quickly that day, and she'd only added Noah's contact info. But they hadn't chatted at all since then, like the enthusiastic Noah she met was a different person.

She had assumed their paths wouldn't cross again, but Sabrina's persistence was unexpected. Since Sabrina was just a young girl, Diana decided to add her.

With that, Diana clicked accept, put away her phone, and headed downstairs to eat with Evelyn.

When they got to the dining room, the table was loaded with Diana's favorite dishes. Evelyn hadn't cooked in a while, and she'd really gone all out today.

Diana wasn't that hungry at first, but the sight of all the food made her stomach growl.

They sat down and started eating happily. But as they ate, Evelyn's mood seemed to dip.

They used to have meals with Robert, Isolde, Cecil, and Billy. Now, with so much food, it was just the two of them, while the other servants stood by, making it a bit awkward.

"Ms. Spencer, why don't we let them join us? I made a lot of food. We can't finish it all," Evelyn suggested, looking at Diana.

Diana glanced up. Evelyn was great in many ways, just a bit naive. She hadn't seen what some of these servants were like.

But if Evelyn wanted to, Diana wouldn't stop her. Better to let her learn on her own.

Seeing Diana nod, Evelyn smiled and waved to Jacob and Bronte. "Come on, everyone, try my cooking."

Jacob shook his head with a smile. "No, thanks. I've already eaten."

"What about you two?" Evelyn asked Bronte and Tessa.

Bronte and Tessa hesitated. As servants, they usually ate much later and had simpler meals. Watching Diana enjoy such a feast made them both envious and hungry.

Seeing their hesitation, Evelyn just pulled them over to the chairs. "Come on, dig in. Ms. Spencer won't mind."

Bronte and Tessa exchanged glances. After a moment, they looked at Diana, and seeing no objection, they finally relaxed.

"Alright, we won't say no."

They picked up their utensils and took a tentative bite. As soon as the food hit their taste buds, their faces lit up with surprise.

No wonder Diana loved it; Evelyn's cooking was amazing!

Without further hesitation, they started eating more eagerly.

After the meal, Diana didn't stick around but headed back to her room.

Her phone had several new messages, all from Sabrina.

Sabrina: [Diana, I finally got your contact! I miss you so much!]

Sabrina: [Diana, what are you doing? Let's hang out sometime.]

Sabrina: [Diana, why aren't you replying to me?]

Seeing the crying puppy emoji Sabrina sent, Diana couldn't help but smile.

Typical college student, full of energy.

Diana thought for a moment and sent a hug emoji.

Diana: [Just went to eat, didn't check my phone, wasn't ignoring you on purpose.]

Almost instantly, Sabrina replied.

Sabrina: [Diana, I knew you wouldn't ignore me. Let's go shopping tomorrow.]

Sabrina lay on her bed, her legs swinging, eyes sparkling as she stared at her phone, eagerly waiting for Diana's reply.

She was now in college, but since she commuted from home, she had little time to hang out with classmates and roommates outside of class, so she didn't have many friends.

Today, Sabrina had begged Noah to go out with her, but he suggested she reach out to Diana instead.

Diana: [Sorry, I have something to do tomorrow.]

It wasn't an excuse; Sabrina's timing was just off.

But the next second, Sabrina fired back.

Sabrina: [What about the day after tomorrow? Next week? When are you free?]

Seeing the string of questions, Diana felt a bit troubled but couldn't resist Sabrina's pleading.

In the end, she gave in.

Diana: [I'll set aside a day next week to hang out with you.]

Seeing this, Sabrina cheered on her bed.

As if remembering something, she quickly got out of bed, put on her slippers, and ran to the study.

At that moment, Garry was chatting with Noah in the study.

Hearing her knock, Noah went to open the door.

Looking down, he saw Sabrina's face filled with barely contained excitement.

"What's up?" he started to ask but was pulled out of the study by Sabrina.

"Noah, I won't be your date for next week's party."

Noah raised an eyebrow. What was up with Sabrina today?

"Then what am I supposed to do? Find a date now?"

Sabrina smugly stroked her chin. "I think we've been hanging out too much; it's getting boring. This time, I want to go solo. But don't worry, I've already found you a date."

"Diana?" Noah guessed almost immediately.

"How did you know?"

"Just a hunch." Noah couldn't help but smile at her surprised expression.

Sabrina had a small social circle and a bit of a temper, which most of her peers couldn't tolerate.

Thinking it over, only Diana seemed like a possibility.

Recalling their first meeting, Noah felt a hint of anticipation.

"But I invited her in my name, Noah, so don't spill the beans," Sabrina warned, looking up at Noah.

Noah replied, "Alright, I promise to keep it under wraps."
