Chapter 400 Slap

"Can't you even support your own daughter as her father?"

Charles' eyes turned icy at Oliver's guilt trip, and he responded with a mocking smile.

The White family had bounced back thanks to Stella, and now they didn't even want to support her?

"If I remember right, it's the 21st century. Stella and I just dated for a bit. We don't have a kid together, and there's no other baggage. She can find someone else after me."

Charles nodded slightly, speaking calmly.

"I thought you might say something that'd move me, but I gave you too much credit. If you don't want to sign, then don't."

With that, he stood up, ignoring Oliver's expression, and turned to leave.

"Wait! Mr. Percy, I have more to say! Give me another chance!"

Oliver shouted after him, throwing his pride out the window.

Nolan, who had been waiting outside, quickly came in to stop Oliver.

"Mr. White, it's smart to leave some room for future dealings. Mr. Percy has already been more than fair. Pushing this further won't help."

Oliver hesitated, thinking of the White family, and his expression became uncertain.

Everyone said Charles was ruthless and decisive. It was rare to have a calm face-to-face conversation with him today.

If he brought up the engagement again, Charles might get angry, and the White Group would suffer.

"Sorry, Mr. Percy, I overstepped."

After weighing the pros and cons, Oliver finally bowed his head and apologized.

Charles didn't stop walking, heading straight out.

He stood by the door for a moment, and then Nolan came out with the documents.

"Mr. Percy, it's signed."

After much hesitation, Oliver finally caved and signed the contract.

In Nolan's view, every clause in the contract was beneficial to the White family.

If others in Evergreen City knew that breaking up with Charles could get such a large settlement, straight men might turn gay just to date him.

"Alright, go find her. It's time to go home."

Charles didn't react much to Oliver's behavior. He glanced at his watch and looked around, but didn't see the familiar figure, growing a bit impatient.

How long had it been? Where had Diana gone?

The security guards were at the door, and if Diana had left, he would have been notified immediately.

Given the situation, Diana was probably still in the villa, just wandering around.

Nolan understood his meaning and soon spotted a maid cleaning in the corner.

After a brief conversation, Nolan returned to report.

"Mr. Percy, I asked around. The maid said there's a party in the garden today. Ms. Wipere is likely there."

"Oh? She knows how to enjoy herself."

Charles smiled briefly, but his face showed irritation rather than happiness.

"The person who should be attending to me is at some pointless party? Ridiculous."

Nolan's expression didn't change at Charles' sudden outburst, but he was silently complaining in his mind.

'Weren't you the one who had her dressed up? It would be a shame if she didn't attend the party looking so elegant and beautiful.'

"Mr. Percy, shall I go get her?"

Nolan asked respectfully, waiting for Charles' response.

"No need, I'll find her myself."

Charles snorted, but after taking a few steps, he turned back.

"Where's the garden?"

Nolan pressed his lips together, maintaining a serious expression, and pointed in the direction the maid had indicated.

"This way, Mr. Percy."

In the garden, Diana and Eugene sat in silence by the poolside chairs, facing each other but avoiding eye contact.

Diana propped her head on her hand, staring off into space.

Eugene swirled his wine glass, occasionally greeting passing women.

After the umpteenth person, Diana turned her head, annoyed.

"Mr. Bailey, since so many people know you, why don't you go enjoy yourself? You're bothering me."

"I haven't even said anything," Eugene replied innocently, taking a sip of his drink.

"That's the sixth woman to give me a hostile look. Do you think I'll make it to the end of the party safely?"

Diana glared at the flamboyant Eugene, wondering how Charles could be friends with him.

Eugene smiled.

"My charm is just too much to handle."

He even winked at a passing woman as he spoke.

Diana rubbed her forehead in exasperation, checked the time, and decided not to stay any longer. Charles was probably done with his meeting.

Just as she stood up, Eugene spoke, "Where are you going?"

"Back, of course."

"Charles isn't here yet. Why the rush? Sit down and have a drink."

Eugene kindly handed her a glass of champagne.

Diana, however, was not in the mood and said bluntly, "Mr. Bailey, even if I have to wait here, please stay away from me. People might think I'm your date."

"Wouldn't that be great? A handsome man and a beautiful woman, we make a perfect pair."

Eugene's thick skin showed as he spoke lightly, with Charles absent.

Diana wasn't having it and sneered.

"My taste isn't that bad."

With that, she turned to leave.

Eugene watched her go, a playful smile on his face.

It seemed she didn't know why she was at the party.

But with Charles not here yet, he probably didn't want to deal with the White family anymore.

Losing the fun of watching the drama, Eugene felt a bit disappointed.

Diana had only taken a few steps when she suddenly felt dizzy.

She slowed her pace, rubbing her temples. The alcohol was starting to take effect.

But she hadn't drunk much, so after a moment, she shook her head and continued walking.

"Ms. White! Ms. White is here."

"She's probably here to make an announcement. Finally, I've been waiting forever."

"She doesn't look too happy, though."

The crowd grew noisy, and Diana looked up to see Stella at the entrance, looking around angrily.

Diana blinked, indifferent. It had nothing to do with her.

But since Stella had come from the living room, their negotiations were likely over.

With that thought, Diana continued towards the exit.

This time, her eyes met Stella's.

The sound of high heels on the stone path grew louder as Stella suddenly stormed over to Diana and slapped her hard before anyone could react.

The crisp sound echoed through the garden, and the crowd fell silent, stunned by the sudden scene.

"You bitch!"

Stella's angry shout shocked everyone, and they began to scrutinize Diana.
