Chapter 254 Evelyn's Suffering
As soon as she finished speaking, the room fell into a dead silence.
Diana's face was stern, her eyes unwavering as she stared directly at Charles.
The next second, she was forcefully pushed onto the bed.
Diana let out a startled cry, her reflexes kicking in as she raised her hand to slap Charles.
But the physical difference between them quickly became apparent. Her hands were pinned above her head, leaving her unable to struggle free.
Diana frowned, her voice sharp, "Charles, have you lost your mind?"
Charles held her down, his face dark with anger. After a moment, he spoke through gritted teeth, his breath hot on her face, "The mother of my child cannot be someone who is unfaithful."
Diana's neck stiffened as she retorted, "Do you think I want to have your child?"
Her words were like gasoline on a fire. Charles, who had barely managed to control his emotions, felt his anger surge again.
The tension in the air was palpable, his face shadowed like a beast lurking in the night.
In the next moment, he grabbed Diana's jaw, forcing her to tilt her head back.
He silenced her with a kiss, his tongue invading her mouth aggressively. Diana whimpered, her tongue aching from the force.
Charles's possessiveness was clear through the kiss, like flames engulfing her, making it hard to breathe.
Diana took a deep breath and bit down hard. The taste of blood filled her mouth, but Charles only paused for a moment before taking a deep breath and continuing the kiss, his grip on her jaw unrelenting.
Her mouth was forced open, and she had no choice but to endure another round of deep kisses. The blood was swallowed by both of them.
Diana's heart raced, not from affection but from anger. The kiss was intense and oppressive.
After what felt like an eternity, Charles finally released her swollen lips, his expression calm.
He stood up, wiped the blood from his mouth, and looked down at her, saying, "Since you won't listen to me, I'll just lock you up until you change your mind."
Diana lay on the bed, her lips swollen, clutching her chest as she gasped for air like a fish out of water. Before she could fully process his words, she was pulled up.
"What are you doing?" she demanded as Charles dragged her out, nearly causing her to stumble.
Without a word, Charles shoved her into the car. The Mirage Nights Club was too public, and with Diana pregnant, it wasn't safe for her to stay there. He needed to keep her within his sight.
He drove her back to The Percy Mansion. Diana was roughly pulled out of the car.
Jacob and Evelyn, who had been worried sick after Diana had been gone for a day and a night, rushed to the door to greet them.
Jacob's heart sank when he saw their cold expressions. They had clearly been fighting again. But this time, Charles's anger seemed different.
Charles pushed Diana towards Jacob, saying, "From now on, you'll stay home and learn some manners. No more going out."
He released her, and she stumbled into Evelyn's arms, her cheeks flushed, hair disheveled, glaring at him. "The agreement says you can't restrict my freedom!"
Charles's face remained cold, his anger barely contained. "You'll get your freedom when you learn to behave."
"You think you can keep me here?" she challenged, her head held high.
Charles took a step closer, the distance between them barely a fist's width. His voice was icy, "You can try."
He then turned to Jacob, "Since she can't follow the rules, her little maid can't stay here either..."
Before he could finish, Diana grabbed his arm, her voice urgent, "What are you planning?"
He raised an eyebrow, "Didn't you say I couldn't keep you here? Diana, pursuing freedom always comes at a cost."
He raised his voice, "Send Evelyn away!"
Evelyn, panicked at the thought of being separated from Diana, immediately pleaded, "Mr. Percy, please don't send me away. I won't eat a bite of the Percy family's food or spend a penny. I'll sleep outside the mansion if I have to. Please don't send me away."
She wasn't worried about herself but about Diana, who was pregnant and had no family left. The emotional well-being of a pregnant woman was crucial, and being alone in The Percy Mansion would drive Diana crazy.
Seeing Charles's cold expression, Evelyn bowed deeply, continuing to beg.
Diana, feeling a pang in her heart, bit her lip and pulled Evelyn up.
"Don't send her away. I'll do as you say!" she shouted, her voice sharp and almost hysterical.
Charles didn't respond, so Diana continued, "If you dare hurt her, I'll die with the child in my womb."
Charles's expression remained aloof. He wanted Diana to stay home and be a good wife and mother. Pushing her too far would backfire.
"As long as you behave, she won't be harmed. Jacob, move Evelyn's room to the small attic in the back. She can only see Diana twice a day. If Diana misbehaves, cancel their meetings."
"Mr. Percy, Ms. Spencer is pregnant. Evelyn knows her needs better. She should stay with Ms. Spencer," Jacob tried to reason.
"Jacob, I'm the master of this house. Are you too old to manage things properly?" Charles's tone was harsh.
Jacob immediately lowered his head, apologizing repeatedly, not daring to speak up for Diana again.
"Ms. Spencer, don't be afraid. I'm still in The Percy Mansion. We may not see each other, but we can still talk. I'll be with you, so don't do anything rash," Evelyn reassured Diana, knowing her strong-willed nature.
As she was dragged away by other servants, Evelyn kept repeating, "Everything will be okay."
Diana bit her lip, glaring at Charles with hatred, wishing she could tear a piece of flesh from him.
The two maids, Tessa and Bronte, who had been assigned to her, finally had their chance to serve her closely. They were secretly pleased but didn't show it.
They supported Diana from both sides, leading her back to the living room.
"Ms. Spencer, it's okay. Evelyn is just in the attic. You'll still have chances to see her," Bronte tried to comfort her, though she didn't mention the attic's poor condition, with no heating and howling winds at night.
Diana said nothing, shaking off Tessa and Bronte. She wanted to be alone upstairs. But Charles's voice stopped her. "Come and eat."
