Chapter 466 Taking Care of the Child

Once Stella left, the café's atmosphere lightened up a bit.

Robert glanced at Diana cautiously, making sure she seemed calm before asking, "What's the deal? Do you know her?"

Diana let out a sarcastic laugh, unsure if she was mocking herself or Stella. "Don't worry about her. She's just a sad case who's obsessed with Charles."

Despite her words, Diana felt a bit annoyed.

Stella's way of doing things was so arbitrary. No matter how much Diana explained, Stella would only act based on her own assumptions.

Forget it, people like her have their own logic. In simple terms, they're selfish. Getting angry with her is a waste of time.

With that thought, Diana took a sip of her coffee, feeling a bit more at ease.

Robert suddenly smiled and waved his hand. "Let's not talk about her. Let's discuss something else. Are you going back to live at your mom's place? I've had someone take care of the house, so you can move back anytime you want."

Talking about this seemed to open up a floodgate of topics for Robert.

He not only mentioned the house and the company but also updated her on the lives of her old friends.

Evelyn was still taking care of Isolde's son, Cecil, who was almost seven and had started school. He was a well-behaved kid.

Isolde was still the same, running the Porter Group well, but she had picked up a new hobby—flirting with handsome men.

As for the Glenn family, Robert didn't mention anything, and Diana didn't ask. If fate allowed, they might meet again someday.

"I'm not going back, Robert. Just keep things as they are," Diana replied casually, her face showing no emotion.

Knowing that everyone was doing well was enough for her.

She wasn't suited to get entangled with the past anymore. She was leaving anyway.

Robert noticed her thoughts and couldn't help but smile wryly.

But he still said, "Alright, I don't know exactly what happened five years ago, but I still want to say, welcome back. Take some time to visit your mom's grave."

Diana's fingers twitched slightly. She smiled in response to Robert's concern. "Okay."

At the Percy Group.

In the elevator, Nolan and Eugene stood one behind the other, silent.

Just ten minutes ago, Nolan had run into Eugene downstairs after seeing Diana off.

Eugene was usually the type to enjoy himself, often inviting Charles out for drinks, singing, and playing cards.

But today, he showed up during the day, which was unusual. Maybe something important had come up.

With that thought, Nolan straightened up and looked at Eugene's back with a hint of respect.

As the elevator dinged, they arrived at the CEO's office.

From around the corner, Abigail and Claire looked up.

Seeing the attention on him, Eugene perked up and threw a flirtatious wink at the two women. "Hello, beautiful ladies, good morning."

Almost simultaneously, Abigail and Claire lowered their heads to focus on their work, pretending not to see him.

Eugene smirked but didn't bother with the two uninterested women. He pushed open the door to the CEO's office.

Inside, Charles was leaning back in his chair, his right hand lazily moving the mouse.

Seeing Eugene enter without knocking, Charles frowned and muttered, "No manners."

Eugene acted like he owned the place, flopping onto the sofa and crossing his legs. "Mr. Percy, what's the good news you called me for?"

Charles gave him a sideways glance, a smile that didn't reach his eyes. "It is indeed good news."

"Oh?"

It wasn't the first time Charles had asked him for a favor, but it was rare for him to be summoned like this.

The more important the matter, the more formal the approach.

Eugene rubbed his hands together, eager to be entrusted with something significant.

"I'm swamped with work. I need you to take care of Benjamin. He's still young and not ready for school."

Charles spoke slowly and deliberately, but what he said left Eugene utterly astonished.

Eugene raised an eyebrow and laughed incredulously, pointing at himself. "You want me to babysit?"

"Yes."

"Haha, I'm the vice president of the Bailey Group. Do you think I have time to babysit?"

"I'll give you the Southside project."

"Babysitting? Of course, leave it to me. I raised my nephew myself. Charles, don't worry, I'll take good care of the kid."

Faced with Charles' offer, Eugene quickly changed his tune, his face now full of flattery.

Babysitting was practically his wish come true.

And considering the child's special status, the fact that Charles was entrusting him with this task showed how much he trusted him.

Feeling touched, Eugene stood up and opened his arms to hug Charles, only to be stopped by a sharp glare.

"The servants will handle the care. You just need to play with him."

Eugene was best at having fun, so playing with Benjamin shouldn't be a problem.

But to his surprise, Eugene's expression turned troubled.

He couldn't take the kid to those entertainment spots, could he?

Seeing his hesitation, Charles added, "Don't take him to those places. If you spoil him, you're dead."

"Okay, but why not have Diana take care of Benjamin? She's a woman, more suited for the job."

Eugene was puzzled.

Though he was reluctant, the project was too tempting to pass up.

Babysitting couldn't be that hard, right?

"Anyone can take care of a child, regardless of gender. Benjamin is a bit mischievous and needs someone with a good temperament to guide him."

Charles' tone was flat. If he weren't so serious, he could have taken care of Benjamin himself.

Meanwhile, at the Percy Mansion, Benjamin had no idea he was being assigned a new caretaker.

He was lying on the floor with a pen and paper, drawing something.

A servant, seeing him sneeze, quickly tried to help him up. "Benjamin, the floor is cold. Please get up."

Benjamin rubbed his nose nonchalantly. "No, go away. Don't bother me while I'm drawing."

The servant tried to help him, but Benjamin rolled on the floor and continued drawing.

He had just recovered from an illness, and now he was lying on the floor again. If he got sick again, Charles would surely blame them for not taking good care of him.

But Benjamin was particularly clever. As soon as Jacob wasn't around, he would start causing trouble.

It wasn't that Benjamin particularly listened to Jacob; he had just been taught to respect his elders. Those in the middle age group didn't matter to him.

The servants were run ragged by him, needing at least two people to take turns watching him every day.

They couldn't help but miss the days when "Ms. Wipere" was around.

Back then, they only needed to do their jobs, and those two would take care of themselves.

"Benjamin, if you don't get up, I'll have to call Mr. Hearst."

The servant took a deep breath, trying to look more serious.

Benjamin swung his legs lazily. "Go ahead, call him. I'll get up when he comes."
