Chapter 129 If He Agrees, I'll Eat

Coralie, who was next door, didn't budge when she saw the argument brewing.

It wasn't until Clara threatened to fire Lily that Coralie finally stepped in.

As a long-time employee, Coralie's words carried weight, so when she showed up, everyone turned to her, hoping she'd diffuse the situation.

But this time, Coralie, usually the peacemaker, sided with Clara. "Ms. Williams, don't be mad. It's just an intern, let her go."

Then Coralie turned to Lily, who was standing behind Calliope, and said, "Come to my office later."

Diana's team wasn't happy hearing this.

Last time, Calliope was almost fired, and now it was Lily's turn.

Someone spoke up, "Ms. Williams, we agreed that we can't just fire members of other teams. Even if Lily is just an intern, we should follow this rule, right?"

If Diana were here, Clara might have hesitated.

But now, with Diana under Charles's control, the entire company naturally fell under Clara's authority.

"Rules can be flexible. I'm the Percy Group's rep. I can fire whoever I want. If you don't like it, let Diana come back and talk to me face to face. Or does anyone here want to leave with this intern?"

The office went silent, no one willing to risk their future.

Calliope wanted to speak, but Coralie discreetly tapped her hand and winked.

Calliope got the hint and shut her mouth.

Lily, however, stayed calm. She had thought through her words and wouldn't regret them even if she got fired.

"No need to trouble you, Ms. Williams. I'll leave on my own," Lily said, heading to Coralie's office.

Seeing this, Clara felt more at ease and warned Diana's team, "See that? That's your negative example. Mind your own business and don't try to stand out."

With that, Clara snorted and went back to her office.

Coralie, supposed to handle Lily's resignation, closed the door and sat down. She pulled out a snack from her drawer and handed it to Lily with a smile. "You young folks are so impulsive."

Lily took the snack and said, "Coralie, I get what you're saying. I just can't stand Ms. Williams. She's always bullying our team. What's wrong with Calliope fighting back? Haven't they done enough bad things?"

Lily reached out her hand to Coralie. "Coralie, do I need a resignation agreement? Don't make it hard for yourself. Just give it to me, and I'll leave. Just deposit my salary into my account."

Coralie smiled and pushed Lily's hand down. "Who said you have to leave?"

"Didn't you just say that to Ms. Williams?"

"I said that to calm her down. The usual rule is that you're under Ms. Spencer's management. I've already informed her. She'll handle it when she gets back. But for the next couple of days, don't come to the company. Consider it a vacation." Coralie had already messaged Diana when the argument started.

Hearing Coralie's words, Lily's eyes lit up, and she excitedly grabbed Coralie's hand. "Coralie, I knew you wouldn't let me go!"

Coralie patted Lily's shoulder and said, "After work, go grab a meal with Calliope and the others. They care about you too. Don't be so impulsive next time."

Lily nodded, feeling a bit embarrassed.

During her time at the company, she worked hard, learned quickly, and knew how to speak and act appropriately.

Her colleagues liked her a lot, and even Coralie had a good impression of her, so she took special care of her.

Therefore, she truly felt lucky to have encountered so many wonderful people.

Meanwhile, at the Percy Mansion, Diana lay on her bed, frowning at her phone.

She hadn't eaten anything for a day and a half, only drinking some water.

Jacob occasionally passed by her door, urging her to eat something, but Diana ignored him.

It wasn't until the afternoon that Diana saw the message from Coralie. The hunger mixed with anger made her stomach ache.

She cursed in her head, 'This Clara, so shameless, still has the nerve to return to the company and punish my employees!'

Diana stood up, deciding to drink some water to ease the stomach pain.

Since she moved in, the maids had almost always avoided her. A few occasionally passed by her door, making some noise.

Other than being a bit noisy, they didn't cause Diana any substantial harm.

As Diana reached downstairs, she smelled the aroma of food.

She frowned slightly and looked at the time on her phone, 2 PM.

Logically, lunch should have been over by now, so why was there still a smell?

When Diana reached the dining room door, she saw Charles sitting at the table with a feast in front of him.

Jacob was still helping to serve dishes, but upon closer inspection, most of the dishes were untouched.

From the moment Diana entered the dining room, both Jacob and Charles noticed her, but neither spoke to her.

Charles glanced at her out of the corner of his eye and then focused on cutting the steak in front of him.

For a moment, the only sound in the dining room was the faint clinking of cutlery against plates.

Diana pursed her lips. She could tell that the chef had been changed.

All those bland nutritional meals were replaced with various dishes, some light, some heavy.

Especially that plate of beef, which made Diana's mouth water.

Indeed, all of this was arranged by Charles. After he came back last night and found out that Diana hadn't eaten all day, he was somewhat angry, so he had Jacob change the chef overnight and prepare a feast.

And since Diana's room didn't have a water dispenser, she had to come to the dining room for water.

So Charles waited here. He didn't know why he had the patience, but he waited for over an hour for Diana to come downstairs.

Charles forked a small piece of steak into his mouth, and out of the corner of his eye, he saw Diana swallow her saliva.

A barely noticeable smile appeared at the corner of his mouth, and the steak, which he was tired of, suddenly tasted delicious.

Diana clenched her fists, her nails digging into her flesh, the pain making her a bit more clear-headed.

She thought to herself, 'No, this is definitely Charles' food trap. If I eat, I won't be able to negotiate any conditions later.'

Diana would rather starve than fall into the trap.

Diana walked past the dining table without changing her expression or looking sideways. She poured a glass of water and was about to leave the dining room.

Jacob, noticing Charles' increasingly dark expression, quickly spoke up, "Ms. Spencer, have some food, or it will go to waste."

Diana paused but didn't turn around. "Has Mr. Percy agreed to my conditions? If he agrees, I'll eat."
