Chapter 191 Giving Gifts
Nolan snapped back to reality when he heard Gilbert's voice. The group had stopped in front of a door.
This must be the reception room.
Gilbert knocked, and a cold male voice from inside said, "Come in."
Charles frowned a bit. He knew this kind of scene well; it usually happened between him and his subordinates.
Nolan noticed it too, and his opinion of Dawn Innovations Group took a hit.
They invited the Percy Group to discuss a partnership, so why didn't Mike greet them personally?
But when the door opened, the scene left them all speechless.
Mike, in the reception room, looked like he was in his early twenties. He had delicate features, and with his shoulder-length hair loosely tied back, it was hard to tell his gender.
But the most striking thing wasn't his face; it was that he was sitting in a wheelchair.
Seeing them come in, Mike smiled slightly, pressed a button on his wheelchair, and rolled over to Charles, extending a hand.
"Hello, Mr. Percy, I've heard a lot about you. I'm Mike, the agent for Dawn Innovations Group. Sorry, I couldn't greet you personally because of my condition."
"No problem, but if your health is an issue, why did you still ask me to come?" Charles shook his hand indifferently, and his anger faded instantly.
Nolan and Claire behind him kept their expressions in check, not wanting to seem rude.
This was too much. The agent for Dawn Innovations Group, such an important role was given to a disabled person?
But soon, they realized that Mike, despite his physical limitations, must be extraordinary to reach this position.
As they were thinking, Gilbert walked behind Mike, pushing the wheelchair.
He explained to Charles, "Mr. Bennett had a car accident last December and has been bedridden since. But he still thought about the cooperation with the Percy Group, so when he felt a bit better, he came to work in a wheelchair."
Mike still had a gentle smile and answered Charles's question, "Mr. Percy, meeting with you is invaluable, so I naturally have to take it seriously. Mr. Percy, please have a seat. I specially prepared some excellent coffee for you."
Charles raised an eyebrow. He had seen many business partners. Some were confident and able to talk eloquently about their company's business. Some were humble, begging the Percy Group to cooperate with them. Some even sent women to his bed, doing whatever it took to collaborate with the Percy Group.
But using physical condition to gain sympathy, Mike was the first.
However, as Mike spoke eloquently, everyone's impression of him changed.
Contrary to his cold appearance, Mike was very humorous, and his tasteful humor kept everyone listening attentively.
After a brief introduction to the history of Dawn Innovations Group, it was time to discuss cooperation.
With a smile on his face and a warm voice, Mike said, "Mr. Percy, it is truly an honor for Dawn Innovations Group to collaborate with you. If you're looking to create a brand, we have many talented designers who can be at your service."
Charles rubbed the edge of his coffee cup, his eyes calm. He wanted to create a brand, not just to make money.
Rainbow Federation, with its rich cultural heritage, had never had an internationally renowned luxury brand.
And Charles wanted not only to open this market but also to show the world the culture embodied in jewelry.
"Thank you, Mr. Bennett, but not just anyone can be my designer." His tone was flat, not rejecting out of politeness.
"It seems, Mr. Percy, that you already have a plan. I can't wait to see what kind of magic Dawn Innovations Group and the Percy Group will create together."
Mike sipped his coffee with the boldness of someone downing a shot.
As he spoke, his eyes landed on Claire. Their gazes met, and Mike smiled brightly, saying, "Mr. Percy's secretary is from the southern Rainbow Federation, right?"
Charles's attention shifted to Claire, and he nodded lightly, confirming.
The Quincy family was from the southern Rainbow Federation and later moved to Evergreen City for better opportunities. He still remembered this.
Claire didn't expect Charles to remember her hometown and was a bit excited, her cheeks flushing.
She said, "Mr. Bennett has sharp eyes. I am indeed from the southern Rainbow Federation."
"Because my mother is also from the southern Rainbow Federation, I could tell at a glance. It seems southern girls are more petite and charming." Mike placed his cup back on the table, looking at Claire with some sentiment.
As he spoke, he seemed to remember something and exclaimed, "Mr. Percy, I prepared a gift for you. I was so excited to see you that I forgot for a moment. Seeing the beautiful lady behind you reminded me."
He signaled to Gilbert with his eyes. Gilbert immediately understood and left the reception room.
"Because of my mother, I also have a southern name." To avoid awkwardness, Mike continued his story. He smiled slightly and said slowly under everyone's gaze, "Brayden Washington, how about it? Sounds pretty good, right?"
Claire, who had just been praised, naturally complimented, "It is indeed a beautiful name."
Before they could say more, there was a knock on the door, followed by Gilbert's voice. "Mr. Bennett, it's me."
"Come in." Mike blinked. This gift was personally prepared by him. He wondered if it would suit Charles's taste.
Gilbert came in from outside, holding three exquisite gift boxes. He distributed them to the three people in order.
"Thank you, Mr. Bennett. I didn't expect to have a gift for me too." Claire took the gift box, her tone filled with a bit of joy.
"Open it and see. I hope you like it, Mr. Percy."
Following his words, Charles opened the gift box in his hand, revealing a delicate men's watch.
Unlike the minimalist designs of other brands, Dawn Innovations Group particularly liked designing luxurious items. Not only was the strap inlaid with diamonds, but the dial was also sparkling.
Nolan received a tie clip, and Claire got a pair of earrings. Both of them looked pleasantly surprised, clearly satisfied with the gifts.
However, Charles closed the box and only nodded lightly, without any extra expression.
Mike keenly caught his mood and asked, "Mr. Percy, don't you like it? If you're not satisfied with this one, we have other styles for you to choose from."
"I like it very much." Charles was sparing with words, and to prove it, he took out the watch and put it on his wrist.
Even Nolan and Claire were startled by his action.
Charles usually wasn't someone who cared about others' feelings.
The Percy family could buy any watch they wanted; why would they need to cherish one from Dawn Innovations Group?
Seeing him put it on, Mike chuckled and nodded in satisfaction.
"Being liked by Mr. Percy will make all the employees of Dawn Innovations Group proud."
The two continued discussing cooperation. The meeting lasted for more than two hours before it concluded.
