Chapter 71 Spice Haven Bistro
Isolde looked at Diana with a straight face and said, "Neither. The restaurant I wanted to go to is fully booked, so we gotta pick another spot."
Diana, who had been super tense, felt both amused and annoyed. She playfully slapped Isolde on the back. "You scared me half to death!"
Isolde burst out laughing, hooked her arm around Diana's, and said, "Just trying to lighten the mood."
They left the company, joking around, and Isolde drove them to the restaurant. As soon as they walked in, Diana could tell this place was something special. Even the waitstaff were in uniform and, on closer look, pretty attractive.
The head waiter, seeing Isolde, immediately took their stuff. He led them to a private room, his voice smooth and calming, "Ms. Porter, good evening. Welcome to Spice Haven Bistro. Your private room is number 6. Let me show you the way."
Isolde nodded and followed the waiter with Diana tagging along. It was Diana's first time at a place like this, and she found it pretty cool. Once they were seated, Isolde signaled the waiter to leave. There was an electronic menu in the private room, and she wanted some alone time with Diana.
Isolde said, "Go ahead and order. The food here is amazing. I used to come here a lot before I had kids."
Diana, now starving, quickly picked a few dishes and handed the menu to Isolde. Diana teased, "Now Cecil is practically my kid. Evelyn is supposed to take care of me, but you're the one benefiting!"
Isolde added a couple more dishes, smiling. "You know, Evelyn is great with kids. I almost want to hire her as my nanny."
"Don't even think about it!" Diana shot back, remembering Isolde's attempts to bribe Evelyn, and decided to give her a raise when she got back.
Talking about kids made Isolde think about Diana's pregnancy, and she looked a bit worried. "Diana, what are you planning to do about the baby?"
Diana paused, her hand unconsciously moving to her belly. She didn't feel anything special. If it weren't for people constantly reminding her, she would almost forget she was pregnant. Diana replied, "I haven't decided yet, but I definitely don't want to keep it. You saw Charles today; he's very manipulative. I don't want to have his child."
Isolde thought about Charles's appearance today. Objectively, he was tall and handsome with good genes. Plus, he was the heir to the Percy Group, with a fortune that could last a lifetime. But from what Diana had said, it was clear Charles didn't like her.
Isolde couldn't imagine the consequences of a woman having a child with a man she didn't love. So Isolde nodded and said, "No matter what, I'm on your side. But if you don't want to keep it, you should go to the hospital soon. The later it gets, the more harm it will do to your body."
After Isolde finished talking, Diana just sat there in silence. Isolde glanced over at her, noticing she was staring blankly at the smooth table.
After a while, Diana finally spoke, "Isolde, I'm really lost right now. Ever since my mom passed away, my dad and stepmom have their own family. I'm all alone in this world, and I feel empty inside. This child has my blood, but knowing the other half comes from Charles makes me feel sick." Diana wasn't just talking about the original Diana but also about herself.
Sophia was abandoned at a children's home at birth. She clawed her way up, joined the organization, and became someone everyone looked up to. But even the strong can feel lonely.
Isolde placed a comforting hand on Diana's shoulder. As a mother, she got where Diana was coming from. "Diana, I get it. When I first found out Finnian was cheating, I hated him so much that I even hated Cecil. He had Finnian's blood, and I couldn't believe I had a child with someone like that."
Isolde paused, then continued, "But Cecil is also my child, the one I carried for ten months. He's different from Finnian. I'll give him a good life. Who needs a father anyway? I'm rich enough. If Cecil grows up and still thinks about his father, he can figure it out himself!"
Isolde's sudden change in tone left Diana momentarily stunned. Isolde, still caught up in her own thoughts, angrily said, "That bastard Finnian hasn't even held Cecil twice since he was born. Such a father is better off gone. If I find a good man in the future, Cecil will have a father figure If not, then Cecil and I will live a good life with all this money."
Diana laughed. Divorced Isolde was more vibrant than before; she would be a good mother.
Isolde continued, "Diana, if you want to have the baby, then have it. If you can't raise it, I will. You've helped me so much; this child will be Cecil's sibling. And you're still young; there will be plenty of men who want to be the child's stepfather."
Diana was about to respond when the sound of the door handle turning interrupted her. She thought it was the waiter bringing their food, but when she looked up, she saw Billy in casual clothes. His hair was a bit longer, and he frowned slightly.
Billy, seeing the unfamiliar setting, immediately apologized, "Sorry, I was just... Diana?"
Diana stared at him blankly and raised her hand in a greeting. She wondered, 'There should have been a waiter at the door of each private room, so how did Billy end up in the wrong room?'
Isolde was initially a bit impatient, but seeing that Diana knew the guy, she turned around. It was a handsome guy. Although she had seen Charles in the morning, who was already quite handsome, Isolde was still amazed by Billy. With his rosy lips, white teeth, broad shoulders, and narrow waist, he looked young and inexperienced.
At that moment, Billy had one hand on the door and the other awkwardly pinching his ear. Isolde's gaze shifted between them, her eyes narrowing, and her expression became meaningful.
Billy hadn't expected to run into Diana here. Since their last meeting, the Richardson Family had strictly forbidden Billy from seeing Diana. They had also given him a lot of company work, leaving him no time. Billy had to ask his assistant to investigate Diana.
He found out that she had married Charles two years ago while he was abroad. However, their relationship was no secret in the industry. Almost everyone who worked with Charles knew that he and Diana didn't get along well. When they divorced, Diana left with nothing.
