Chapter 137 Do I have a chance?

Claire had her hair half-up, and her eyes were stunning. Her cute little nose and slightly smiling lips made her look super gentle and soft.

Unlike everyone else in their black, white, and gray outfits, Claire rocked a yellow dress, making her look full of energy.

People passing by started whispering to each other, "Her skin is amazing."

"Yeah, do you think she's here to see Mr. Percy? She's holding food."

One colleague eyed the lunch box in her hand, looking pretty eager.

The receptionist, who had seen all kinds of beauties, found Claire's gentle and elegant vibe rare, and her voice softened. "Miss, do you have an appointment with Mr. Percy?"

Claire smiled shyly and raised the lunch box. "No, I came back suddenly this time, and he doesn't know yet. I wanted to surprise him."

The receptionist looked a bit troubled hearing this.

According to the rules, no appointment meant no entry, but Claire's classy demeanor was different from those who usually caused trouble.

If she really had something to do with Charles and they didn't let her in, it could be a big problem.

Claire seemed to notice their hesitation and took out her phone, saying, "I don't know if Charles is busy now. I'll call Nolan."

The receptionist immediately nodded, more convinced she knew Charles, and took out the registration form. "Miss, may I have your name? We need to register you."

"My name is Claire."

Nolan hurriedly knocked on the door of the CEO's office.

"Come in," Charles stopped what he was doing and looked up at Nolan. "What's up?"

"Ms. Murphy is here to see you." Nolan lowered his head. He was a bit surprised when he got Claire's call.

Hearing she was downstairs, he was even more surprised and rushed to tell Charles, not wanting to waste any time.

Sure, Charles had no shortage of women, but he lacked women who could actually talk to him. Most of the women he met were either crazy about him or his money. Few were genuine.

And Claire wasn't just Charles' college classmate; she was one of the few who could actually talk to him.

So Nolan remembered Claire well, but she had always been in the South. He had no idea why she suddenly showed up at the company today.

"Claire?" Charles listened to Nolan and didn't immediately remember who she was.

Nolan helpfully reminded him, "Mr. Murphy's daughter."

Charles then remembered her, his voice deepening, still unsure why Claire was looking for him. "Let her come up."

"Okay."

Downstairs, after calling Nolan, Claire felt anxious, worried that Charles might have forgotten her and would have her kicked out.

But Claire didn't show it on her face, just looked around curiously.

It wasn't until Nolan called back and told her to come up that Claire finally felt relieved.

The receptionist also breathed a sigh of relief, glad they didn't just kick her out.

"Do you think she might become Mrs. Percy?" The receptionist on the left watched Claire walk away and whispered to her colleague.

The receptionist on the right shook her head. "Not necessarily. Look at those wealthy families, which one is completely clean after a divorce? I think Mr. Percy's ex-wife still has a chance."

"I think you have a point, but that lady hasn't been here for a long time. More beauties in the company would at least be pleasant to look at." The receptionist on the left propped her chin on the desk.

Hearing this, the receptionist on the right replied irritably, "Then you handle it, and get exhausted."

Meanwhile, Claire had already reached the door of the CEO's office.

It wasn't her first time at the Percy Group, and luckily the layout hadn't changed, or she would have gotten lost.

With Claire's knock, Charles' deep voice came from the office. "Come in."

Hearing the familiar voice, Claire was instantly very nervous, her expression a bit dazed.

But she remembered her purpose and immediately adjusted her expression, showing a standard smile. "Charles, have you eaten? I brought you lunch."

Nolan, standing beside Charles, found Claire pleasing to the eye.

But Charles frowned slightly, and his words were not pleasant. "Claire? What are you doing here?"

They hadn't seen each other for at least three years, and she suddenly came to bring him food. Who knew what she was up to?

Besides being Quincy Murphy's daughter, Claire had another identity worth noting: she was Elise's niece. Elise was not easy to deal with, and maybe Claire was sent by her.

"Charles, it's been a long time, and this is how you treat me?" Claire pouted, her eyes slightly glaring at Charles, but her hands didn't stop, opening the lunch box and placing the food in front of him.

Each dish looked delicious and tempting.

Seeing Charles not moving, Claire sat down by herself.

"Don't be so stern. It's my dad! He wants me to get married early, but I want to focus on my career. You know, once a woman has a family, it's easy to get distracted. After thinking it over, you're the most successful friend I have, so I came to seek your help." Claire's expression was sincere, not like she was lying.

Because she was once Charles' classmate, her words carried a sense of familiarity, without the flattery of others.

Claire understood that Charles was used to others' flattery. Instead of trying to please him indirectly, it was better to be straightforward.

Sure enough, Charles' expression relaxed a bit after hearing this. "Why don't you go to her?"

Claire quickly realized who "her" referred to and looked a bit angry. "Elise and I are not close. My mom asked her to take care of me, but she didn't help at all. In this vast Evergreen City, you're the only one I know."

After saying that, Claire put on a pitiful expression,

"Mr. Percy, can you give me a job? Even if it's just doing some chores by your side, I'm willing." Claire's exaggerated tone had a bit of playfulness, making Nolan smile.

"Ms. Murphy, do you want to be Mr. Percy's secretary? That's a high requirement."

Seeing Nolan speak, Claire immediately took out her resume from her bag and said, "A resume almost identical to Mr. Percy's. Do I have a chance?"

Seeing Claire well-prepared, Charles didn't rush to answer but slowly tasted the food in front of him. It was delicious.
