Chapter 278 Fighting
Charles gritted his teeth, his eyes practically shooting flames.
"I gave you a chance, and you blew it. Now you have the nerve to show up in front of me."
He threw another punch, but this time Billy dodged, taking some of the force off.
"It was an accident."
Even after being hit, Billy was still thinking about Diana, not wanting to escalate the conflict.
But his response only added fuel to Charles' fire.
Charles grabbed Billy by the throat, instantly robbing him of the chance to breathe.
The choking sensation made Billy's face turn red.
Charles' voice was icy, "An accident? You think seducing my woman is an accident?"
He tightened his grip. Billy, unable to fight back, kicked frantically.
The next second, Charles felt a pair of delicate hands wrap around his waist from behind.
Diana's face pressed against his back, her breathing heavy, "Stop it! Let him go!"
She had just gotten up from the ground and was terrified by what she saw.
The choking sensation was all too familiar to her, and knowing how much Charles hated Billy, she had to intervene before it was too late.
"You're defending your lover now?"
Charles sneered, her blatant protection only making him lose more control. He felt his blood boiling, screaming, "Kill him, kill him!"
Diana's voice turned sharp, "Billy is getting married. There's nothing between us, Charles. Get a grip."
Her hands tightened around his waist, pulling him back a step.
Charles hesitated, loosening his grip on Billy.
Billy seized the moment to escape, clutching his throat and coughing violently.
Diana leaned her forehead against Charles' back, her mind in chaos, just wanting him to stop hurting Billy.
But soon, Charles grabbed her hand, pulling her to face him.
He gripped her chin, their faces inches apart, his breath hot on her skin. Diana instinctively raised her hand, clutching his arm.
"Still trying to lie to me?"
Charles struggled to contain his anger, the image of them embracing still fresh in his mind.
Even when he called, Diana could lie without batting an eye.
Always deceiving him, always entangled with other men!
His grip tightened, wanting to crush her.
But when he saw tears welling up in Diana's eyes, he loosened his hold, his chest heaving with rage.
"I'm not lying!"
Diana's face hurt from his grip, and even though he had eased up, the pain was still intense. She could only manage a quick retort.
Before she could explain, Billy, having caught his breath, quickly said, "It's not what you think. We met by accident today. There was an explosion in the square, and we were helping the police investigate. The police station is right behind us. If you don't believe me, you can ask them yourself. Let Diana go, she's innocent!"
"Did I ask you to speak?"
Charles couldn't care less about his words.
"Charles! You're ignoring the truth and just venting your anger. No wonder Diana doesn't like you!"
Billy hadn't expected him to be so unreasonable and shouted in anger.
"What did you say? You're asking for it!" Charles, enraged, let go of Diana and swung his fist at Billy.
This time, Billy didn't hold back. The two men, similar in height and build, fought fiercely.
Nolan, who had been sitting in the car, saw the fight and rushed to intervene, but Diana grabbed his arm.
Her voice was raised, dripping with disdain, "Let them fight. The great CEO of the Percy Group, solving problems with his fists. The Richardson family only has one son, and Vance has some pull in politics. Nolan, if Billy dies, think about how you'll explain it to Vance."
She paused, then continued, "If Charles dies, I'll personally take care of his body. Come on, fight harder! Put some effort into it! Didn't you eat?"
"Ms. Spencer, please don't make things worse!"
Nolan pulled his hand free and stepped in to separate Billy and Charles.
In the process, someone hit his nose, sending a wave of pain through him, and a stream of blood flowed into his mouth.
The good news was they were separated; the bad news was Nolan had a bloody nose.
He didn't have time to deal with it, wiping it away haphazardly, only smearing the blood more.
"Mr. Percy, calm down. We have other ways to deal with him."
Nolan, breathing heavily, held Charles back.
Charles' face and mouth were bruised, clearly showing Billy hadn't held back.
But Billy didn't look much better, with half his face swollen and a black eye.
He spat out a mouthful of blood, struggling to stand, his voice hoarse, "I don't understand why I lost to someone like you."
Diana quietly stepped forward to support Billy, her tone gentle, advising, "You should go. This is my problem, don't get involved."
To be precise, the fewer people involved in her and Charles' issues, the better.
Since Billy had his own life, there was no need to waste time on her.
Billy's expression was sorrowful, his lips trembling, "I just don't want you with a guy like him. Even if it's not me, as long as you're happy with someone else, that's enough."
Diana frowned slightly, not agreeing with his words.
She was beautiful and wealthy; did she need a man to be happy? If it weren't for being trapped by Charles, wouldn't guys be lining up outside for a chance with her?
But she didn't voice these thoughts, instead patiently saying, "I'm fine. Since you're getting married, live your life well."
Their voices were low, and Charles couldn't hear what they were saying.
But his eyes never left Diana, wanting to devour her whole.
After saying this, Diana let go of Billy and turned to walk towards Charles.
Her face showed no fear, nor did she care about his injuries. As she passed by him, she spoke coldly, "I'm going back with you."
Under the watchful eyes of the three men, Diana opened the back door of the Maybach and got in.
Seeing this, Nolan quickly took the opportunity to persuade Charles, "Mr. Percy, Ms. Spencer is already in the car. Let's go back and talk."
But even as he said this, Billy and Charles remained at a standoff.
It wasn't until Billy, holding his head, turned to leave that Nolan managed to coax and drag Charles into the car.
As the car door closed, Diana leaned against the corner of the back seat, her eyes staring blankly ahead, showing no emotion.
Even when Charles sat beside her, she didn't react.
Charles, who had been fuming, felt a cold wave wash over him seeing her like this, leaving him feeling chilled.
So what were they, really?
He had thought their relationship had made significant progress.
But reality was mocking him.
As the president of the Percy Group and the dream lover of many women in Evergreen City, if others knew that he was pining for Diana and couldn't have her, he would be a laughingstock.
A strong sense of shame, mixed with resentment, surged in his heart.
Charles suddenly turned his head, his voice cold, "What are we now?"
