Chapter 507 Ice Cream

Charles instinctively picked up his pace as he walked over.

When they finally stood face to face, an awkward silence settled between them.

Diana broke the silence first. "Why didn't you wait for us in the visitor area?"

Charles seemed to snap out of his daze, his eyelashes fluttering as he explained, "Too many people. I don't like crowds."

As he spoke, he reached out to take her hand.

But the sensation was strange—small, soft, and a bit damp.

Wait, Diana's hand wasn't this small!

Charles instinctively pulled his hand back, but it was held even tighter.

Looking down, he saw Benjamin's mischievous grin. The boy seemed oblivious to how annoying he looked at that moment.

Holding both their hands, Benjamin said, "You guys need to stick close to me. The amusement park is crowded, so don't get lost!"

With that, he sped up, pulling them along.

Charles tugged him back with a firm grip. "Slow down."

"Yeah, slow down. If you run too fast now, you'll be tired before we even start playing," Diana added.

After speaking, she realized she had just teamed up with Charles to scold a child, like real parents.

Benjamin, with his back to them, smiled slyly before obediently slowing his pace. The three of them walked forward together.

Once inside the park, Benjamin's excitement was palpable. The restraint he had shown earlier vanished.

His little hand pointed at the carousel one moment and the roller coaster the next, his screams of delight filling the air.

He couldn't decide what to ride first.

After some internal debate, Benjamin chose the nearby swing ride.

Each person sat alone on this ride, and once enough people were seated, it would start.

Each seat was connected to the main machine by a steel cable, and once it started, the machine would spin, lifting the seats into the air.

Diana heard Benjamin's excited shouts. After the first round ended, he wanted to go again, so he lined up for a second ride.

This time, the two of them didn't accompany him but stood by the railing, watching him.

Diana took out her phone, opened the video recording interface, and aimed it at Benjamin.

Charles watched silently from the side.

As the machine started again, Diana spoke up, "Why didn't you just book the whole place? I thought you didn't like these kinds of places."

Charles's eyes flickered at her words. After a moment, he replied, "I thought you guys would like this. If you don't, I'll book the whole place next time."

Diana kept her eyes on the screen. Hearing his serious promise, she turned to look at him.

After confirming he wasn't joking, she explained, "No, this is good. An amusement park needs this kind of atmosphere. If Benjamin were the only one playing, he'd get bored."

After speaking, silence fell between them again.

Diana paused, then looked away.

She had been puzzled when she saw Charles in the corner earlier, but seeing him in a suit, she realized he wasn't comfortable in such settings.

He had probably been stared at with strange looks, which made him retreat to the corner, waiting for them like a bird waiting for its mother to return to the nest.

This wasn't just Diana's imagination. She had clearly felt the gazes of many passersby on them as they waited by the railing.

A wave of inexplicable sadness washed over Diana.

She turned off her phone and suddenly said, "Give me your jacket. It's too hot."

Charles, taken aback by her request, instinctively raised his arm. The next second, Diana had his suit jacket in her arms.

She said, "Come closer."

Charles raised an eyebrow, puzzled, but complied, moving closer.

Diana took the opportunity to loosen his tie. As he looked at her in surprise, she unbuttoned the top two buttons of his shirt.

After finishing, Diana looked him up and down.

Much better.

She then tried to step back, but Charles grabbed her hand.

His thumb gently stroked her wrist, feeling the faint pulse beneath her skin.

"Did my outfit make you feel embarrassed?" Charles asked, his gaze dropping.

He had asked because he thought it might be true, but he feared Diana felt the same.

He had been stared at by many people today.

He wasn't afraid of being looked at, but their gazes felt like they were watching a circus monkey, which made him very uncomfortable.

Eventually, as more people gathered, Charles had retreated to the corner, lowering his head.

"No, you just looked too handsome. Too many people were staring at you, and it made me uncomfortable," Diana quickly replied.

Realizing the ambiguity in her words, she waved her hands to clarify, "I mean, walking together, I didn't want to be stared at..."

But no matter how she explained, it didn't seem right.

Fortunately, Benjamin finished his ride and ran over, saving Diana.

"Let's go ride something else!"

He grabbed Diana's hand and pulled her forward, his attention on the nearby carousel, not noticing that Diana's hand was still in Charles's.

The three of them walked in a line, from smallest to tallest. Even without his suit, Charles's striking appearance still drew glances.

But when people saw the beautiful woman and adorable child with him, their gazes softened with admiration and blessings.

What a perfect family.

Under Benjamin's lead, they tried most of the attractions in that area.

Diana felt her energy dwindling, but when she turned to look at them, they were still full of life and had no signs of fatigue.

Especially Benjamin, who was chattering away and running around—children really do have an incredible amount of energy!

She glanced at the strollers other families were pushing and thought she needed an adult-sized one.

"I can't go on. Let's take a break. I'm exhausted," Diana said, plopping down on a bench and fanning herself.

Benjamin, though eager to move on, saw Diana's state and obediently stayed by her side. "Okay, let's rest for a bit."

But he soon started looking around, clearly not one to sit still for long.

Charles sat next to Diana, noticing many people around them holding park snacks. He asked, "Do you want some ice cream?"

"Yes! I want ice cream! And a hot dog!"

Benjamin immediately replied, his eyes sparkling with excitement.

"I'll have some too. Vanilla, please," Diana said after a moment's hesitation, seeing Charles's serious expression.

"I want chocolate!"

Benjamin added, raising his hand.

Charles noted their orders and headed toward the ice cream cart.
