Chapter 343 Stray Dog

"What?"

Charles' face shifted slightly, and for a moment, he wondered if he had misheard.

"It happened this afternoon. I've already sent people to track it down. But this is too unusual. If it were an enemy of the Percy Group, the risk would be too high. And it's your personal account."

Nolan's expression darkened, but he stayed calm. Now, they could only trace the IP address through the transaction.

"Investigate thoroughly. I want to see who has the guts to hack my account."

Charles looked up, his eyes cold. This behavior was undoubtedly a provocation.

"Yes, Mr. Percy!" Nolan responded respectfully.

Outside the Percy Mansion, Benjamin crouched in a corner, working on his tablet for a long time.

Lines of code scrolled across the screen.

With the last keystroke, Benjamin let out a long breath, wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, and put away the tablet.

"Finally done."

After meeting Nolan today, Benjamin had come up with a brilliant plan.

He and Diana had been living outside for so long, and Charles hadn't given them a dime, yet he had the nerve to buy luxury goods for others.

Three hundred million dollars? Consider it living expenses.

But Charles' team wasn't incompetent either. Benjamin had to leave the hotel and set his IP address to the Percy Mansion.

He wondered how Charles would feel when he found out the IP was from his own home.

Thinking of this, Benjamin couldn't help but laugh.

He was about to stand up, but his legs had gone numb from squatting for too long.

His legs tingled, and Benjamin stumbled and fell hard.

Suddenly, a silver dog appeared out of nowhere, sniffing him and barking excitedly.

Benjamin was startled and tried to get up, but his numb legs made him cry out in pain.

The dog seemed to sense his difficulty, licking his hand and nudging it with its head, then crawling under his arm to help him up.

Benjamin's eyes widened, realizing the dog was trying to help him. His initial fear dissipated, replaced by excitement.

The dog continued to nudge his arm, and Benjamin sat up, shaking his head.

"My legs are numb. I'll be able to walk in a bit. You look so majestic! What's your name?"

The dog tilted its head, not understanding his words, and licked Benjamin's face.

Benjamin laughed heartily, amused by the dog.

After playing with the dog for a while, he examined it closely.

It didn't seem like a common breed, and he hadn't seen it abroad either.

There was no collar around its neck.

Could it be a stray?

Benjamin frowned, speaking softly, "Where's your home? Are you a stray?"

The dog responded with a bark.

"This is a wealthy area. You should have an owner. It's getting late; I need to go home. You should go home too. Thanks for helping me up."

Benjamin patted the dog's head, enjoying the soft, fluffy feel.

The dog enjoyed the attention, closing its eyes. As Benjamin picked up his backpack and turned to leave, the dog followed him without hesitation.

Benjamin stopped and turned to see the dog.

"Go home. Don't follow me."

He said sternly, but after a moment's hesitation, he took out his unfinished hot dog from his bag and threw it far away.

The dog, smelling the food, ran after it, tongue lolling.

Seeing this, Benjamin sighed in relief and quickly ran off.

His ride was almost there, and he needed to lose the dog.

But he was still young and soon ran out of energy.

Looking back, he couldn't see the dog anymore, and he felt a bit more at ease.

Thinking of the dog's soft fur, he clenched his fist slightly, murmuring to himself, "When I get back, I'll ask Mommy to buy me one too."

As he fantasized about having a dog, a car pulled up in front of him.

The driver rolled down the window and asked, "Hey, are you the one who called for a ride?"

Benjamin nodded and was about to get in when the driver continued, "You didn't mention bringing a dog. The dog can't ride in the car, and it's not on a leash. What if it bites?"

Benjamin was puzzled and turned to see the silver dog sitting behind him.

Maybe because it was so well-behaved, the driver hadn't realized it wasn't his dog.

Just as Benjamin was about to explain, the dog jumped into the car, surprising the driver.

Seeing the dog's intelligence, the driver laughed, "Alright, the dog seems smart, but you'll have to pay an extra ten dollars. If it makes a mess, it'll be fifty."

Benjamin's expression was odd, standing still. The dog grabbed his coat and pulled him into the car.

The driver reminded him, "Extra charge, kid."

Whether it was the dog's enthusiasm or Benjamin's desire for a pet, he didn't explain further. Instead, he took out a hundred-dollar bill from his bag.

"Here you go. Just take us to our destination."

The driver's eyes lit up, and he became more enthusiastic, "Sure thing."

As the car started, Benjamin looked at the dog beside him, which was also looking at him, tongue out.

The scene was a bit comical.

Benjamin tugged on the dog's ear, and it obediently lowered its head.

The soft, thick fur felt nice, and Benjamin leaned in, whispering, "Did you follow me because you want to choose me as your owner? You have good taste. I'm super rich. But I'm leaving soon. Can you fly with me?"

The dog didn't understand what he was saying, but its ears felt a bit ticklish. It shook its head and barked excitedly, then burrowed its head into Benjamin's arms.

Benjamin laughed, feeling much better.

When they arrived at the hotel, the receptionist was surprised to see the dog. Benjamin hadn't had a dog before.

But the hotel was pet-friendly, so they just reminded him to put a collar and leash on the dog to prevent any incidents.

Back in the room, Benjamin ordered some pet supplies online.

After everything was done, he looked at the dog and said, "You need a name."

The dog tilted its head, as if waiting for its name.

Benjamin frowned in thought.

Suddenly, his eyes lit up, and he said, "Silver! How about Silver?"

The dog barked in response, as if agreeing.

Benjamin called out again, and Silver barked.

He proudly put his hands on his hips, "Not bad, Silver. Looks like you like the name. From now on, you'll live a good life with me! No more wandering."

Silver barked twice more.

Late at night, Charles finished his work and prepared to rest at the office.

Since Diana left, he rarely went home. But when he felt overwhelmed, sleeping in her room calmed him.

He didn't want to become hysterical again, so he avoided going back, reducing his dependence on those memories.

His phone suddenly rang, and Charles answered, "Jacob, what's up?"

Jacob's voice was anxious, "Mr. Percy, Snowy is missing."
